Andrew, you're right that bigger raises steal blinds with a higher frequency. If you went all-in every hand from the button (as an extreme to illustrate the point), you would steal the blinds a higher % of the time then any other sized bet. The problem is you lose the Max when the BB wakes up w AA. The video seeks the optimal raise size, where success frequency is balanced with chip loss in a failed attempt. In the long run, the best raise size is not the largest you can make.

Hello, Thanks for the Video. I liked it alot. The math articles were good. However, I believe it would be more helpful to describe to viewers that raising 2 big blinds pre-flop to 400 is not likely to steal the blinds. If the small blind folds, the big blind is getting 3.5-1 on a call. In addition, if hero's frequency is too high, his raise is essentially a check and means nothing because he does it every time. His range can't be narrowed down. Again, thanks for the video. I just think that in addition to the math, we need to let viewers know the practical aspects of raising to 2BB. In practice, this won't work a whole lot. In addition, although raising to 3BB costs more, your fold frequency will probably go up.

the problem with this math is that you cant calculate the human element of calling your raises. sure you can list a ratio of how many hands you would need to win to break even, but in reality if you're trying to steal the blinds, depending on the crowd you're playing, a bigger raise would force their fold more often than a reduced raise which was trying to have a lower breaking point.

But what if the blinds are increased during the tournament and the current amount of chips will have less value. Would you still have to win two out of three or would ist change something?

This logic certainly makes sense, but we could use a more detailed analysis regarding the likelihood that the blinds will fold as you increase your pre-flop bet size. Anyways, these vids are proving useful in improving my long term profitability, thx. Yet another tool I'm adding to my toolbox. I'm gonna experiment with this next week at the poker tables.

I would like to know how u get the number 6000 for last example. For me I just did easy math, just tried some numbers untill both numbers hit 6000. 8x750 = 6000 15x400= 6000. Is there a way do find this out instant?

if you raise only 400 we probably will get called. then bet higher after the flop 75% the times we will get it. but if they called you get out the way you are in trouble

Its not really useful to min raise. Blinds will never fold and will pay for the cheap flop. If you wanna steal the blinds you better raise more.
