The general elevation for this map (I.e flatness) might be to compensate for size and rendering. This is a huge map, colorifically complex and just in general wildly differing. For lower grade PCs rendering is already a nightmare, less difference of elevation means it only has to render across a straight line and not at wildly differing levels.

My buddy and I refer to those creature-heavy areas as Thunderdomes. We use them for leveling our critters when we tame or breed up new ones. There's one on the Island, on the Western beach just south of the border with the snow zone, for example.

As much as people hate that rock drakes aren't on crystal isles, I'm actually kinda glad they're an aberration exclusive, aberration is such a cool map, it's got a unique feel to it that you don't really get on other maps, and if they did what they did to scorched earth and ported all the creatures to other maps than there would be much less incentive to play through it. Now if only it wasn't so damn hard to get out once you put your character in there I would play on it way more often

That crystal drake is beautiful! My name suggestion for her is Rhoda. Rhodonite is a type of pink crystal, but instead of "Rhodo" I added an "a" to make it feminine. The quetzal skeleton is a nice touch on the map! It's creepy, but I can just imagine a quetzal getting stuck in those vines. It'd be cool if other maps, like the Island, got some more of those world-building details.

The cool area you found inside the rockdrake place, you should build a base for collecting eggs and storing/hatching and raising them there. If there a good level you can kill the lower level Drake's for exp.

There was definitely another BIO, last time I played Crystal Isles before everything changed, there was a huge empty unfinished canyon type area, it was completely bare but was a canyon type area with huge hills and mountains. Just nothing there but ground. This was a few years ago though.

Just for the '''flat'' map thing, it's not flat for the most part, there's big mountains to the SW, the vulcano area around red ord is packed with mountains, the desert has a lot of cliffs and obv. the crystal drake area, snow biome is basically all mountains and that's not even mentioning the floating isles. The only kinda flat area is the pink woods Syntac was looking at to the south of floating isles. If you chose to build your base in any of those areas then a rock drake would do just fine.
