I get he’s on the Blazers but one of the sweetest contracts in the league is Deni Avdija’s. Descending going from 15.6mil to 11.8mil through 2028.

If PPG isn't your only metric for 6MOY , then both Tari Eason and Amen Thompson are better off the bench than Pritchard. Both are scoring about 4ppg less but are absolutely preventing way more points from opponents.

Sadly this is the NBA, defense just doesn't matter as much as it should. If it did Luka wouldn't sniff the top 10. I'm still surprised he's almost unanimously #2 even after the C's exposed the crap out of him on the D side in the Finals, which in turn tired him out and his O tanked in the 4th quarters.

Rockets aren’t good enough as a team to warrant consideration for individual awards. That’s just the reality of it. You also gotta have the narrative, and an undersized point guard with Steph’s range, who’s the most clutch guy on the defending champs, has it. If he maintains his current level of production it’s Pritchard’s award to lose.

@ Standings right now mean less than nothing. We’re not a quarter of the way done with the regular season. The media doesn’t see the Rockets as ready to contend, so the narratives won’t portray them as worthy of consideration for individual awards unless someone is head and shoulders above the competition. Eason and Thompson aren’t that. If things keep going the way they have for all parties, the votes will go to Pritchard. That’s just what happens when the media vote on the awards and not the coaches/executives (don’t get me started on players voting for awards, that would be an unmitigated disaster).
