People forget that it takes years for a new character to become popular. For example...Deadpool and Harley Quin both took over 10 years to reach their Tipping Point of popularity.
@BlerdWithoutFear4 жыл бұрын
Very true! Hell, I'd dare say we saw similar with Miles Morales. He wasn't an instantaneous hit. Hell, a lot of people hated him at first. He dropped in 2011 and didn't really become a household name until 2018.
@CreativeTakeover-f4i4 жыл бұрын
@@BlerdWithoutFear my problem with Miles is that I feel like Marvel hasn't done much with him in 10 years..like establishing his own rogues gallery, separating him enough from Peter to make him stand out, put him in his own city and give him his own name...they did all of this worh Kane when they moved him to Houston, Texas. Damn...I need to need to write him. Lol

Except Spider-Man and Spawn. Spidey became so popular he got his first cartoon series 5 years after his introduction and Spawn got his own movie 5 years after his first appearance. Then he mysteriously lost his popularity.

I enjoyed this book. I even read the Pilot issue of the character that was released back in 2010. I have a character that's also named "Stealth" in a comic I'm creating. When I saw the news of this book being released, I decided to check it out to see if I'm not copying his work. When I read the first issue, I felt like I incorporated at least 10% of this book's premise into my story, so I have to go back and rework a bunch of stuff.

First off, donated! I'm not out there protesting, but I agree Ernie that we should give support any way we can to those protesting for us. Secondly, awesome video. Indeed the comic is easy to get drawn into. I look forward to the remaining issues (I believe its only a six issue miniseries). Thirdly, in regards to supporting black creators I think the biggest problem for them and their work is the marketing. I'm one of the few who complain about a lack of black characters because I honestly don't hear about any black characters. And the ones that I do hear about either tend to be in stories or genres I don't like or, in regards to more popular characters, are placed on the back burner. For example, I found out about Stealth by following the Blerd's twitter. If I wasn't following him, I'd never hear about the book. DC's Far Sector is awesome, but I was able to hear about that directly from DC, because of its heavy marketing. I know creators don't have the funds to market on the scale as big name companies, but there has to be a way to market their work to the masses otherwise they will miss out on potential buyers. Right now, my eyes are on Kevin Grevioux's Darkstorm comics. He's working on several books that almost ALL catch my attention...literally lol. I can't wait till they drop, because thats where my money's going.

I think the 3 main challenges facing new black characters (aside from racism) are: 1. They aren't usually carried by major comics like DC, Marvel, Image and Dark Horse, so it's hard to get exposure. 2. They don't exist in the same universe as beloved, established characters. 3. The writers aren't typically well known, so you don't know if you'll get a rich story and compelling characters.
@Wolframandheart4 жыл бұрын
