I am an ambassador for stealth belt. I love these accessories!!! They are so great for anything you do. I am a medical provider, and I wear at work. It is discrete and doesn't really show itself unless my bag is super full. I am an avid outdoorsman and I do Crossfit. Never had a problem doing anything I want with this belt. I have 3 currently. One of them is the stealthbelt Hybrid and it has a bit more support for when I workout. It is so awesome. They are a bit expensive and takes a little time to get them, but so very worth it!!! I recommend these belts without hesitation. Thanks for all the info and videos Eric!!!

The StealthBelt is also available in a Vertical version, which helps with larger output and may be more convenient for people that usually wear their pouch in a vertical orientation. I have 2 Vertical and 2 Horizontal versions and have found that I prefer the Vertical version, but have used both depending on the situation. (Fortunately, I am having my costs covered by the VA)

Hi. Thanks for all your help. I’m almost 3 years into my ileostomy and almost always wear a stealth belt. I’m a golfer and usually wear XL. When I first ordered stealth belt they pushed me into the pro, then I ordered an XL horizontal, but I found both protruded on my belly and for both looks and got in the way of golf swing. Then I tried the vertical and found that was right for me. The bag hung below my belly and not on top of it. I can see where thin people pro might be better, but for large people they should def try the vertical. Bob

Vertical or Horizontal? Which one do you wear more often? @@VeganOstomy
@VeganOstomy
@VeganOstomy 8 ай бұрын
@@NotThatGuy48 Unless I'm wearing a tucked in shirt (i.e. dress shirt), I prefer the vertical belt. Not only because it allows me to wear my bag in the most natural position, but it also helps to give output a place to go (straight down). It also allows me to use other accessories, which are designed for vertical appliances. Since I wear a 1pc these days, I can't really switch from horizontal to vertical wear on-the-fly like I could with a 2pc.
@NotThatGuy48
@NotThatGuy48 8 ай бұрын
@@VeganOstomy thanks for replying. Do you feel that the vertical belt tends to untuck itself from your pants when being physically active (jumping/running)? Also, what accessories are you using? Are you still using the osto ez vent? Lasty, why the switch to the one piece? Thanks!
@VeganOstomy
@VeganOstomy 8 ай бұрын
I only wear the vertical belt outside of my pants and not tucked in, and I particular find it useful while active (especially while cycling or jogging). Because of how it supports the bag, it removes the weight off your wafer, so activities produce less tugging at the appliance. For accessories, I'm minimalist and don't use any unless needed temporarily. My bag doesn't have a filter and I use a 1pc mostly due to cost savings (around half the cost of a 2pc), but also because I just find that the larger surface area it provides helps to secure the appliance more than a 2pc. The one piece also makes it easier to push thicker output down and away from the stoma, where it might often get trapped on a 2pc because of the coupling ring forming a raised area. Also, my longest wear time with a 1pc is at least double the longest wear time I was getting with a 2pc. So, I only use 2pc appliances infrequently and only if the advantages of having the 2pc on makes it worthwhile.

@VeganOstomy
@VeganOstomy 3 жыл бұрын
A few ladies mentioned this on my support forum. Without there being a silicone band on the inside of the StealthBelth, this can happen. One member did suggest a spray that dancers and gymnists use to help keep their clothes from slipping. That might be worth trying. The thread is here: www.veganostomy.ca/community/ostomy-products/stealth-belt-slipping/

@@VeganOstomy I tried putting a 15 inch piece of a broken Theraband across my back under the Theraband. It works fairly well. Negative: Gets very sweaty & a little bit sticks out(aesthetic). Summer will be a challenge. There is a powdery feel to Theraband. I washed it with Dawn & a fiber pad. It worked better. I will explore other materials, like silicone.

I would like to know if you can buy these belts that are up and down instead of sideways . I would think by wearing your bag sideways that you would have much trouble with it leaking, because all the liquid is right up against the stroma and the ring . Which I am having trouble with right now . I am new to all of this . Thank you for your time .
@VeganOstomy
@VeganOstomy 6 жыл бұрын
Hi James, you can buy a vertical StealthBelt called the stingray. I haven't used it, but it should give good support. Liquid output is challenging. I tend to use gelling products to thicken up my output and that prevents leaks. Wearing my bag sideways hasn't caused any issues with leaks, and it may even have prevented them because of the additional pressure the belt applies around my stoma.
@jamesord8825
@jamesord8825 6 жыл бұрын
I want to thank you for getting back to me . I was told that I shouldn't rinse my bag out with water because it can cause your bag to leak , that also applies for my liquid that is in the bag . So I have been trying to make sure my liquid goes to the bottom of the bag . But if I can have the liquid up against my stoma without it breaking down my ring and causing leaks and burns on my skin then I would love to wear it sideways . So all I need is this gel you are talking about ? What is it called and where can I buy it ? Again thank you for your time .

Hi James. I tend to rinse my bag often (6+ times a day) and I don't notice any ill effects from doing it. I have a video on the gelling products: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eISZd6GIhtebmNU Depending on where you live, you may have access to different products, but they all tend to work the same. Sample them if you can.

Hi Eric, Update: I found rubber worked better, but sweatier. Trying to find a silicone band? Grainger Co. suggested I try foam rubber or neoprene(toxic?) Zoom oil has a special tip, makes it easier to hit the groove. I use plain old mineral oil. Old time colonoscopy & Barium Enema prep(70's). Drank with 7 Up.(gag, cough). By my name, I practiced Radiography for 41 yrs. Ironic, to be on the "receiving end". Cheap & sold everywhere. Wipe well & use sparingly or your pouch will come loose. NASTY when you are bushwhacking. I suggest ordering 2 or more inches more than Stealth Belt recommends. Easier to adjust & as you mentioned, weight gain. Last, I use your diet system to get a low output, Pouch gets full in 5-6 hrs. Empty at the gas station.

Hi Eric. I hope you are well? Got my Stealthbelt Pro in the mail today (incidentally one day earlier than they indicated!) It took about 5 days from order date > door, so very efficient. Whatever questions I had for their customer service pre-order were answered via live chat. Ok, first impressions ofnthe SBP are, well, it's great! Comfortable/fits nicely but I had to refer to your video to make sure I put it on correctly, i.e. flange tags inside or outside (I know...now!) I've one question - as the fitting is snug (good) does it increase the risk of pancaking and should a little more lube be used? Overall - much like England in the World Cup - the SBP exceeded my expectations 👍👍 Thanks for posting the video!! Phil
@VeganOstomy
@VeganOstomy 6 жыл бұрын
Hey, Phil! I'm glad you like your new StealthBelt! I do find that any product or clothing that puts pressure on the stoma (gentle or otherwise) can increase pancaking. But due to the fact that your output will no longer be able to fall to the bottom of the bag using gravity, expect thicker stool to need to be slid over from time to time. You kind of get used to it pretty quickly and this only affects output that is thick. Best of luck to you!

Hi Frank. It's best to get in touch with StealthBelt directly to see what they can offer, however, in my experience, the belt may stretch over time and if you lose any weight then a larger belt could be too large. There's a lot of adjustability with these belts, especially to make them looser. Did you follow their measuring guide when you placed your order?

It's sometimes down to personal preference. When I'm wearing it casually, I tend to keep it on the loose-but-comfortable side. But when I'm doing something that requires a lot of movement, I keep it tighter to give more support. It shouldn't be so tight as to restrict the flow of output.

@VeganOstomy

Hi John, I usually tend to advise against wearing the bag sideways if you have liquid output (regardless of the ostomy type). With liquid output from an ileostomy, we can use gelling products to thicken things up, but those gelling products do not work with urine, so there's a greater chance of leaks. That said, I have heard from urostomates who use the belt and say it hasn't been a problem. depending on how often you'd normally empty your bag, the belt may work just fine.

Will this work with a Stoma Shield?
@VeganOstomy
@VeganOstomy 4 жыл бұрын
No, unfortunately, the StomaShield (and most other stoma guards) are going to be too big to fit comfortably. There's also the problem of output flow: you want your output to flow sideways when wearing a horizontal belt like a StealthBelt Pro, and most guards would need to be placed vertically, which there simply isn't any room for. If you are looking for stoma protection while wearing one of these belts, I would consider going with the hybrid stealthbelt as it has a neoprene that offers protection and if you use it with a 2pc appliance, it's nearly "bulletproof" in that regard as the flange of the appliance offers a wall around your stoma.
