Had the Coof last December. Only minor cough but also constantly high fever (102-104 degrees) for almost two weeks. And one night with some muscle pain, but that could've been from staying in bed all time. Luckily no other symptoms and no aftereffects. But the fever was exhausting. I took Glycyrrhizine (basically strong liqorice) because I've read beforehand that it has some antiviral properties, didn't worked wonders, but I believe it helped. And lots of sage- and thyme tea against bacterial superinfections. All in all at least in my case different but not worse then a strong flue. And I'm in my 50's, so... Glad to hear you all did get healthy again! 👍

Had Covid a year ago July. No fever, but lost smell and still not 100% returned. Bad headaches and then 24 hrs of drop of Oxygen saturation where that little voice starts thinking about going to ER. Recovered in about 3 weeks. My best friend is in ICU fighting for his life with Covid. Life is precious, don’t take it for granted. Stay safe and healthy!! 🙏🏼

I was taking to an old colleague the other day. She had COVID about the same time you did. She was in ICU for a week and another 2 weeks in a regular room. She still needs oxygen at times. Thank your lucky stars that your family's and your experience were no worse than they were. Stay healthy, your camping trips are some of my favorite things to watch!

I got Covid back in January. Like you said it was like no sickness I've had before. Fever, couldn't eat, sever body aches, headaches, I had a really hard time breathing, and a cough that lasted a few months after getting over it. My sick time lasted about 3 weeks. My final week brought sleeplessness. I went 3 days with 6 hours of sleep. 2 hours the first night and 4 hours the second night. Never lost taste or smell although my wife did but like your wife my wife's symptoms were mostly mild. I was never hospitalized but did do breathing treatments as my doctor ordered. My brother in law got Covid right at the end of July. Went into the hospital early August as he could not breath and he was turning blue. He had double Covid pneumonia. He passed September 5th leaving my sister and their 2 little boys.

Stealth camping in Texas fields, I've learned to setup camp near cows, they keep hogs and aggressive animals away during the active hours usually around dusk and dawn. Also bring a few apples for the bull.

Luke, My wife, son and I all had Covid at the same time (last March). My son, 18, barely had any symptoms. My wife and I were quite sick..... High fever, NASTY cough and body aches for about 2 weeks. We both lost our senses of smell and taste completely. By day 18 or 19 I was pretty much recovered, whereas my wife had lingering respiratory problems for about another month. I've been bald for 20 years, so I can't tell if I lost any hair! Thankfully, Wifey still has her beautiful locks! Nice vid as always.

My wife tested positive for Covid-19, in February. She lost taste and smell. I had two negative tests, but my smell was affected and everything was salty. It was all very strange! Glad you are all doing well.

Its similar rules here in Spain on the trail, with regards to camping. i stealth camp, i leave zero trace, only cook on my stove and pitch late and pack up early. Great video!

Apparently, if you are walking from place A to place B and say a sudden storm comes in or darkness falls before you reach the destination, then it's 'legal' to camp. I've never had a problem camping in Spain but then I'm very discreet. 😁

I live in the desert southwest. Coyotes are such a familiar sight, even in our neighborhoods in the cities. I recently moved to a rural area, and I hear them a lot. I always get goosebumps when they all start yipping. What's really hair raising is the sound of a mountain lion. I've only heard that roar twice in my life, but I've never forgotten it.

My wife, 3 kids and I all had covid in November 2021. My wife, my son and I all had headaches and lost taste and smell. My 2 daughters had a cough and not much else. I also tasted only salty/bitter tastes. I'm actually still on quarantine because if good ol NY. We're all good now everybody is back to normal. I'm glad you and your family are healthy again. I had one of the scariest coyote encounters when I was camping in the North Georgia mountains. Blood-curdling howls awoke me early in morning about a mile from my car. Fortunately, they were hunting a deer. Excellent video Luke! Strength and honor.

I can relate having COVID - 19.I got it from a friend who didn't get his vaccinations. He got it from someone who travelled somewhere. I had a fever and chills and sat in the bathroom for a while. Otherwise I only had it for 14 days. awesome video you have. I love it when people walk through the woods and show the beautiful scenery. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

Glad you are feeling better. Yeah it's crazy how the "19" affects everyone so differently. I had it in January. The first 5 days were pretty normal, but on day 6 everything changed. My blood pressure sky rocketed to stroke levels and I had what they call thunder clap headaches (look it up, not fun at all). After 4 ER visits, 4 brain scans, and many many dr visits, they finally figured out that Covid had attacked the blood vessels in my brain. The blood vessels on the right side of my brain were almost completely closed causing excruciating pain, loss of memory, balance, etc. Ten months later and I am still on multiple nerve medications to combat the head pain, blood pressure issues, cognitive issues, etc, but I can't complain as I am definitely better than I was. Every day is a blessing!!

I got Pfizer and my booster last week. Also, due to a research project I am in, I get tested every 2 weeks for the virus and once a month for antibody presence. So far, I have been able to avoid it and, being a native, I LOVE the NC mountains. Not too far from you so may have to drive or ride up sometime to meet you and Susie. Be safe but LIVE.

At the end of the summer we bought a new wood burning stove for our bell tent. And a pipe kettle and new chairs. But due to covid, pneumonia and out of control diabetes - and the inconvenience of nearly dying from it- I didn’t go camping. I can’t wait. So I watch your programmes. As you talked about covid- I am a supply teacher and I caught it in school - gave it to hubby. After 10 days I gradually got worse and worse. Probably too much info- but I lost control of my bowels. I couldn’t breathe , my lungs were congested. I had pneumonia but I didn’t know at the time. Hubby said he stayed awake to keep me breathing so the next day I called an ambulance. They didn’t come and said I should make my way to the hospital. So hubby drive me - with covid himself. The doctor said I nearly died. But you see, I’m diabetic and 64. But the man in the next ward to me died. He was unvaccinated and 25 years younger than me with a young family. Very sad. But he made the decision, took the chance and paid for it. Get vaccinated folks. The reason I survived, even thought I caught it, was because I was vaccinated. It was pneumonia that nearly killed me.

I believe I contracted Covid in Cheyenne, WY, and by the time I arrived in Sacramento, I had to be admitted into VA hospital and remained there for one week. My symptoms were a low grade fever, general malaise, the sight of food made me nauseous and a sore throat. My body movements were slow and calculated. After discharge I laid in bed weak and had difficulty breathing going up and down stairs and had to use O2 to help me breathe properly. It took me six weeks to reach some sort of normalcy. At age 74 my body takes longer to recuperate and I still have an irritating hacking cough. However, I haven't let anything stop me from getting out to explore the Southwest in my van. So far I've hit southern California, Arizona and parts of Northern California.

I dose the insides of my clothing and sleeping bag with permethrin before heading out. Walking, sitting, and crawling around we collect them. Permethrin repels them, and kills the foolhardy ones that persist. I’d expect more of them around cattle. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

@@jeffmcgilvrey2497 G’day, Jeff. According to the directions, insides of pant legs, shirt sleeves, and shirt tails (entry points for ticks) are recommended. I also spray the inside of the groin area of pants, and underwear. Their target area is the groin. I turn my sleeping bag inside out and spray that too. Tops of socks too. (And tuck pant cuffs into sock tops.) Also the tent’s zippered entry areas, inside four corners, and ceiling. A couple of friends have had ticks. So far, I haven’t (knocking on wood here.) Until, say, 5-6 years ago, I never saw a tick in Michigan. Somehow, they’re here now. I figure that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. I buy mine from Walmart. Luke I had COVID over last Christmas. I lost taste and smell. Never ran a fever. Just couldn’t taste or smell. Me and my coworker contracted it at the same time. We missed 14 days of work. Got cleared by the state department to go back to work at our EMS job we had. Glad you guys are ok. I see the severe side of it every day.

Yep. Contracted Covid b back in Jan/ Feb. Had a persistent cough and terrible weakness. Couldn't walk without holding onto a wall. No fever though. After testing neg I now have anathema and carry a rescue inhaler. This thing is no joke at least for me. Really glad your family pulled through. S&H

My grandparents raised cattle. They would take calves and keep them until they were old enough to be sold to the dairy farms in the area. it would usually take about two years before they could be sold so they got used to being around people. My grandparents also kept a few cows (didn't sell them) because the older cows helped with the socialization of the calves and young cows. There is a good chance the cow and bull you encountered were thoroughly socialized and were hoping for treats. However, since you could not > know < that it was best that you kept your distance.

Yes I had covid the first two weeks High fever could not catch my breath. Every breath I took I felt like I was sucking in water. Luckley I had oxgen and a nebulizer machine with breathing meds or I would have been in the hospital. I am a 64 year old man. I also do alot over night camping. I just love it. Luke keep up the good camping and hiking, some day we just may cross paths.

Had Vivid 8/2020. My wife had what amounted to a cold for a few days. I ended up in the hospital for nine days, three in the Icu. I hand no cough. Just couldn't breath well. Was in oxygen in the hospital and a month and a half after I went home. Based on the amount of Heprin they were giving me blood clots must have been an issue. As far as taste goes sweet and salt were amplified. Todd seemed to have the texture of gravel. Good news is I made a full recovery. Thanks to all my doctors and nurses at Mercy Hospital in Canton Ohio.

Luke, I had covid back in April for 3 weeks. It was the worst illness I’ve ever had. I lost my appetite, had a sore throat, fever, chills and sweats, plus low oxygen. I had pneumonia with it and had to be on oxygen for a week. I haven’t experienced any side effects afterwards. We’ll all get through this. So glad you’re all fine.

I just went through covid too. I had similar symptoms. Headaches, chills and fever. Couldn't sleep. Mind was just racing. Lasted 1 week but didn't feel good for 3 weeks. LOL, everything did smell burnt and everything did taste very salty. Just felt blessed. Glad you and your family is better. Love your videos.

I've got something you should try doing and it works great. Take a wool blanket make a tent out of it and use a tarp over it to help with the wind and rain. Really helps hold heat in. Try it!

If you still have taste issues, take some zinc supplements. Zinc is used up when fighting infection and covid goes through it fast. A symptom of zinc deficiency is taste problems. I had covid. had a 101 temp for 2 weeks. Felt in between the flu and a cold in severity. Jaw hurt for 2 days and loss of appetite but that was it and the same was for my wife. Her mom though had it rough and needed an oxygen machine. Helps to have a bunch of nurses in the family. Better than ICU care.

I also got covid from Florida. Went to Disney world for family vacation. Wife and I are vaccinated, kids are not vaccinated and 4 & 7 yrs old. Everyone got home and tested positive for covid. Wife had a slight cough. Daughter 0 symptoms. Son slight cough. Myself, damn near death with all covid symptoms. The intense covid symptoms lasted 2 days then resided to a cough and congestion that won't go away. Covid is weird. You're the man Luke

Bought a Luminar outdoor lantern about 18 months ago with 1250 max lumen, it uses 4 D battery's has high/med/ low and dim settings .. Harbor freight has them for 19.99. I've used mine on 5 different camping trips that were 2 to 3 days each in length.. used the light for several hours each time and have yet to replace the battery's.. extremely low power consumption on the lower settings.. great light and cheap! Works for me!

Luke same with me I was sick for three weeks my wife had a rough go but not as bad as mine. Set in front of a fan constantly. I had fever weak disoriented and dizzy mouth ulcers cough had hair loss also. Crazy

With "IT' (almost a year ago) I had a head to toe welted rash, high grade fever, headache, weird smell (like ever everything was rotting), my taste was really off until in week two I lost both smell and taste, I hurt all over, then I got double lung pneumonia and ended up in the hospital. That was around day 9/10. I was released and continued until day 23 when my fever broke- THANK GOD! Now afterwards I still have fatigue and headaches. My vision is wobbly and I had hair loss for about 6 months post "c". It was the sickest I ever had been in my life. Not being able to breathe was super scary. I'm a year out now and still have very high antibodies.

Glad you're recovering. I had COVID last December and was incredibly weak and fatigued, and for months afterwards going up a single flight of stairs would skyrocket my pulse to 120+ and I'd need to sit down. Heck, the first couple weeks I didn't even have the energy to sit upright in a chair for 8 hours straight to telework. I still get short of breath and feel like I inhaled too much water every time I get post nasal drip. So glad I skipped Thanksgiving with the family last year, because with the timing of everything I just may have infected my high risk parents if I'd gone.

Hey I had covid from August 20th till September 24, spent 2 weeks in the hospital and came close to dying. Lost taste had a fever that came and went. No cough but body aches and chills, no taste or smell and had a hell of a time breathing. I still don't feel great but really getting better. Funny thing is I showed symptoms 5 days after I got my final vaccination dose.

We all had the ‘roana as well. I had symptoms similar to a severe sinus infection with headache, a one-arm rash, scalp sores, and tinnitus! My daughter in law had incredible fatigue and then a little pneumonia from sleeping on her back. My son-bad high fevers and eventually a 4 day hospitalization with discharge on oxygen. Grandson tired one day. So everyone was completely different. Son is off oxygen now except when he exerts too much. He’s impatient to get well and work. (Also is losing hair, too!) Whatever you do, stay upright and do deep breathing exercises before, during and after. Sleep on side or tummy. Muscinex worked great for us.

Finally, a question I can answer. The strong winds you experience are likely katabatic, or downslope, despite prevailing conditions. So, your aspect influences evening wind. I hike and camp, often with a paraglider.

I had it and my neighbor had it and my mother-in-law and her husband had it. A cold is all we had. I felt, for the most part, fine. A couple of days I was a little more tired than usual, had a cough, plugged nose. I could taste things fine, just not as strong and with the plugged nose, I couldn't smell. I am still waiting for my smell to come completely back. Every once in a while I'll get a whiff of a smell but not much. Never had a fever, neither did the in-laws. This happened at the end of August and I still have a cough. It only comes on a couple times a day and lasts for about 2 minutes. It's getting better. Sorry to hear you had it so bad. Glad you all are better.

I really wish that we had more forest areas to explore here in England. I'd love to walk for miles and not see a road, but it's not to be here. We have the National Parks, which offer decent trails to hike on, but almost all of them don't allow camping so any multi-day hiking trip seems to quickly get expensive when you don't have a lot of 'official' options beyond booking a stay at a hotel somewhere, which isn't camping. So you have to head for a more reasonable camping-friendly Scotland. Of course, there are the responsible wild campers out there, big respect, with any hope we'll get a 200 year old 'Act of Vagrancy' law updated to allow for wild camping when hiking.

You had a high grade fever... for *2 straight weeks* you say? Honestly dude, you should be thankful you're not dead. Not only does that sound absolutely miserable, but that sounds like you were inches away from needing a hospital bed. Glad you're feeling fine now... but boy am I glad I got vaccinated last month after so much procrastinating. All I had to deal with was a sore arm for a day.... ill take that 10/10 over a 2 week long fever.

I had covid in 2020 Feb for my bday. I'm asthmatic and my asthma was severe for 3 months afterwards. I have never been so short of breath in my life. Fever, loss of appetite and upset stomach. My Mother died on a ventilator in June 2021. I decided the Vax was for me and my husband too.

God bless you with your covid. I just got over battling lyme, covid, and pneumonia for the last 3 weeks. Well, still on antibiotics for lyme. My symptoms: 103-104 fever, not eating for a week, everything was disgustingly salty (and I love salt), coffee still tastes like oil water, sweats, I did not eat for a week, and the coughing/ phlegm. My primary care is the one who called a rescue for me because I was also dehydrated. I stayed on the couch for a week. My lasting effects so far: back pain, and major leg weakness. I go back to work in a couple days. My wif'es symptoms only lasted a couple days. But she said the same thing of everything tasting extremely salty.

Some of your covid symptoms were like my son's. He, his wife and 4 sons all caught it (3 vaccinated and 3 were not ). Just slight fevers, sore throats and coughing. Sick for 10 days. My son lost his sense of taste and smell, but woke up one night a week after getting this and he raced through his home looking for a fire, because he thought he smelled smoke. Also, he said he could only taste "salt". That is so weird. Glad to see you are better and I am so relieved that my family is well now too. Hope it stays that way. I've had 2 shots and a booster because I have Leukemia, so I have to be so, so careful. As for those cayotes , I would have climbed up a tree and sat there all night. lol Hey, you take care out there, stay safe (away from those cows) and keep making these great adventure videos. Great video! Had Covid. No sense of smell or taste for three weeks. Miserable sleeping. Sick with fever for about two weeks. Minor cough and congestion last few days of being sick. Once my fever broke, it took about another four to five days before I felt 100%. Enjoy your videos! Thanks!

As usual, great video. I stealth camp in the local forest when I can't get away to the mountains, particularly when a storm is in the forecast. I have a minimal backpacking kit that fits into my day-hiking pack, so I am disguised as a day-hiker. I use a compact 7x9 tarp, and because I like to go out during storms, I pitch it low, A-frame style, roughly waist high. The wind still blows it around during storms, but a lot less than if it was pitched high. I am glad you are showing links for the gear you like. I am intrigued by the pack. I will have to check that out.

The “vid” is strange. My daughter caught it at a school dance. She was fine after a couple of days and never went beyond a mild fever and stuffiness. My wife was fine. I felt slightly bad for 2 days but that was it. Thank God. I worked in a county hospital in a city with 2.5 million pop for 20 years. I was exposed to just about everything. That probably helped my immune system cope. God blessed us and I hope y’all recover 100%. I put this comment in because this video is the ONLY one where I have seen real comments about the vid. Its tough to tell by watching the news.

I caught it at a grocery store. A employee had it. I was masked up but I touched something they did and touched my face. I’m fully vaccinated thankfully because I would have died. I thought I was going to die. I could not breathe I coughed so bad. . I had no clue where I was. I felt so weak for two weeks. I have zero after affects thankfully. Once I could sleep I felt better pretty quick. It was scary. I had Luke playing on a loop because I woke up and his voice was calming when your confused.

Hey Luke, nice video! A little tip i’d give for audio in the videos is to use a slight low pass filter to cut down wind and tripod rumbles. They can get quite distracting with subwoofers and good headphones. 👍🏻☺️

I was camping a couple weeks ago. Dark out, we had a fire going and I heard what I assume were a couple coyotes in the darkness. Few seconds later a few more, then a few more then a few more lol. Within a 30 second time span it sounded like we were totally surrounded by 30 coyotes. Definitely one of the oddest experiences I’ve had.
