William Carlson a guy that lived a van life once told me you live to work I work to live. I wake up on a beach and surf when ever I want to. I am happy in life. Are you? I worked 127. Hours a week. I was so unhappy. I made changes. I worked 40 hours a week to enjoy my wife. Now I am recovering from chemo and it has left me disabled and recovery is very slow but I don’t regret changing my life. I admire guys like this because I need to simplify life to be happier.

I spent 8 years as a river guide. I was lucky enough to grow up in a region that most out doors enthusiasts would be jealous of. Idea, use two glow plugs a glow plug will pull 12 volts to heat up then drop down to 4 direct volts to stay hot. Design an electrical circuit that will heat up each glow plug one at a time. Use a copper radiator and place glow plugs one on each side. Then fill COPPER radiator with gallium to absorb and conduct the heat generated by the glow plugs. Then secure radiator inside a duct with air intake slots close to the floor and an air vent close to the top. The heated air rising will generate a suction drawing air through the radiator has air is taken in from the air vents along the floor. A heating system that pulls only 8 direct volts with no harmful fumes being generated like with other means of keeping warm. 😉😊

Noooo, the floor is the most important piece to insulate. It is usually the wall/side which you constantly touch and also the area where most of the cold builds up (think of ground frost).

I've recently been forced to live in my Yukon XL. It's bad but not in the streets. I went to junkyard to see how big these chevy 1500 vans are on the inside and boy was I surprised. It's a night and day difference with the Yukon XL even though it's roughly the same size. I'm looking to get one asap and save my money till I can buy a mobile home in another state outside Cali! I'm a local Truck driver and it's sad how much housing is in SoCal!

Because air below the van, I would suggest insulating the floor too. Maybe one form inside the ribbing and the one to two others before the subflooring. ijs I like his thought process!!!!!!

I just bought a 2007 Chevy Express 2500 for $7500. 164,000 miles. Unfortunately, it cost $600 for an airbag sensor, $800 for brakes and will cost $800 for pinion bearings. The noise is awful. All this trouble happened within 2 weeks after buying it.
