I loved that this show had girls being smart and athletic while also keeping the fact that they were into boys and liked shopping. Growing up I thought that you could only be one or the other and this show was really an awakening.

i think i was too young for totally spies, but that belief annoyed me so much, and seeing my friends and i being stereotyped. like my smart friend was pretty so she wasn't actually smart. my athletic friend was girly so she wasn't actually good at sports. as well as some of the popular girls could literally run the world they were so pretty if they tried

Definitely agree sam is the "nerdy girl" but she very stylish alex is also the tomboyish sporty girl and she's also very fashionable

This goes to show how big of a budget Totally Spies had, it was one of the few (if not the only) cartoons whose protagonists wore different outfits every episode, their clothes also being a mirror of what was trendy at the time. I also have to give credit to the character designers because, even if the girls did have their own specific colors, they did sometimes put them in clothes that were outside of their personal color spectrum. If anything, Totally Spies was way ahead of its time.

Yesss!! I absolutely loved it. It was such a diverse show yet at the same time they would stay true to its theme. Generally outfits don’t change for protagonist cause that can be quite complicated and problematic to keep up with, but this show beat that for sure!

Alex was definitely my favorite as a kid but I rewatched it a few years ago and I relate more to Clover now as an adult and find her personality very entertaining. Also the outfits were definitely one of the things that made the show special. And the fact that the girls were so smart, clever and badass. It was really inspiring as a kid to see girls being praised for their intelligence and wit.

She was Rory Gilmore before GG became a thing. And when Rory isn't restricted to her school uniform, she has some similar fits to Sam. Especially when she's older and starts to wear more dresses and skirts.

I love totally spies so much!! You don't really see many kid-shows with female charachters who are both badass AND gentle, kind and compassionate as well as fashionable, pretty and smart and hardworking. The girls feel so realistic in that sense, and their friendship is so beautiful

I love Totally Spies. They're the only cartoon that puts the effort in to animate each new outfit every single episode. Yeah there are other shows that do have more then one outfit (Kim Possible and Avatar: the last airbender) but it stays consistant throughout most of the episodes. Totally Spies have a new outfit every episode and most of them are pretty good too. They defiantly had someone in the fashion industry working on the designs for these girls. And a lot of money.

Went absolutely FERAL when I saw the video title!!!! I knew you would do such a good job covering this series (as you've done snippets before) but omg you've outdone yourself. I'm so amazed at your talent for outfit building, color theory, layering, balancing between costume/wearable, translating from a cartoon to real life. And you FED US SO MUCH. 22 looks???? My favorites were probably Look 3 (Clover's pink and red hearts), Look 5 (a surprising black and white casual slay from Clover), Look 8 (Mandy's purple Step On Me look, and the corset/top laying? Genius), Look 10 (Alex's red and blue skater fit), Look 12 (Nickelodeon Girl, lol), Look 14 (Sam's blue look, SO good, love the layering, idk how you did all the different blues and patterns together and it just WORKS), Look 21 (Yes, just YES, Clover's pink kitty cat look). Other cartoon girls from this time period that were serving looks were definitely the Hex Girls from scooby doo, and had a similar color-coded wardrobe. I would have watched an entire spin-off series of them. Ty for all your amazing content
