I bought the violet blue hollow set and i started disassembing the right side then i just decided to go back factory, all those little components and green boards gave me the chills, just that one side off i couldnt sleep knowing my shit was exposed, the video is phenomenal when it comes to the hands on step by step process but man one wrong move and you can lose a screw, mess up your screen and your haptics. So i recommend you please take your time, me personally i rather pay someone to install it, the project isnt worth it if you're not willing to do it step by step or you're not good at following directions. its a long and difficult process that requires patience.

Amazon sells a electric screw driver with every bit for phones ect called the Wow Stick and it absolutely awesome for this type of work! Thanks for sharing it looks very modular. Can't wait to get mine!

@windecktech Waiting for my deckhd screen to come in as well, dropped my phone on it😢 haha . I've got the rear purple atomic shell Just ordered the atomic purple buttons. I even put some atomic purple thumbstick but you do lose the capacitive touch but I was never a fan of it anyways and you'll have to trim the stick out of sticks about 1mm otherwise it'll bind inside the shell.

Do not use the screws that came with the kit. They are completely awful and will break off inside your unit.

Was going through the steps and sadly the touch pads seem to be harder to separate along with the L1 an R1 being redesigned for the OLED version. So a new set needs to be made along with a tutorial in how to work on that.

I just installed clear white ABXY, L2,R2, Dpad and the 2 menu buttons on my oled. No fitment issues. the triggers look awesome with the clear RGB backplate. Wish I had the clear L1 and R1 to go with it to

Ugh this took me 3hrs just for my screen not to work after! It makes the sound as if it turned on but black screen...I reallllly really don't feel like opening all back up to figure out what went wrong, sigh.

Im all for the asthetic, but got dayum this is a process. But i do admit a black and white mix up with the Panda thumb stick caps would look good. So would the Cherry Blossom Pink Shell with Super Famicon abxy buttons start/select buttons, Mystery Brick track pads and Mushroom/Star thumb stick caps.

I changed the buttons,but not the haptics, as i didnt feel comfortable doing the double tape part. I got the green purple metalic, and was happy to find leaving the side touchpads black helps keep it looking sleek, but still have color from the buttons.

The touchpad doesn't come apart that easily. There is glue and needs to be loosened with heat.

I broke the cables for the track pad. I kept wiggling it for almost half an hour so I gave it a slight tug and both cables came off the white thing. The white thing is literally just completely glued on there, I continued to try and remove it with tweezers so I can problemput the cable back on. It isn't coming out, it is 100% glued on. The tweezers ripped through instead of coming it.

Any chance you'll be making L1 and R1 buttons for the OLED? Everything else fits fine. I didn't try the back buttons since I used a Jsaux RGB backplate.

Anybody have experience with the Dpad? I don’t particularly care to replace the official but I really would like a matte or grippy finish, that would be a definite purchase for me. My ultimate end goal is to have an 8bitdo/Super Nintendo style drop in dpad. The stock one is just terribly slippy and not great for diagonals. (A small capton tape mod has dramatically improved the performance but I still hate the finish)

I think I broke my steam deck I was doing the d pad and they were really weak. Like falling down without having to press them. I tried doing the steps again but I don’t know. I think I broke it. I bought mine third party and don’t have a warranty.

...always read descriptions..I bought translucent orange set buttons trigger, bumper, etc...only the face buttons were compatible it was for the lcd version only..can we get the oled version 🤞

Did you have problems with diagonal input on the dpad.... For full transparency , I combine these buttons with the jsaux full shell

@theafchefstable8284 well no everything works fine actually no problems..im debating if I wanna go balls deep into shell swapping, only done clicky facebuttons, hall effect Stix, the orange face buttons (excluding triggers n bumpers)..kinda satisfied where I am on it now

@vaassick8016 it really not as bad as it seem just make sure you got a suction cupp or tool use plastic tool to scrape the adhesive around the Area you remove the screen from scrape it off with the pry tool...don't use alcohol to clean that area it will run along the hole and bubble up the screen...other than that your good...

@@theafchefstable8284 watched and rewatched some tutorial videos I feel like I could do it..right now it's mostly what I think I wanna do aesthetically..example if I decide to swap the shell it's because I'm thinking of using the glow shell which is clear translucent and glows in the dark but with what color scheme for the buttons..if I keep it black I like to go for a Halloween black and orange, or a evil black and red scheme, then I think about how bout a translucent red, then I think I really dig the translucent blue, then circle around to the translucent orange...then I get overwhelmed and just play sparking zero ............😶

Hopefully clicky in winter, we want to make the shortest trigger clicky, the other 2 still work normally, but it's not an easy job. The full housing and buttons hopefully be in August or Sep, please stay tuned!

Jesus Christ man I wish there was .ore visible instructions for the volume buttons. The default ones took 3 hours of continues pulling and I eventually have up and ripped it in half to get it out. Then I put the new ones in and only 2 seconds in it got stuck sideways and I left my Steamdeck at my desk for 15 days trying to unstuck it an hour a day. Is there a not so visible lock or something I'm not seeing? Why is it like this?

Worthless fucking prying tool bent and broke both boards on both track pads. Please provide a high quality one. One made of metal because this one I had to use a knife to cut away the plastic that started losing the sharp edge and EVEN THEN it didn't do the job correctly. It broke both boards after 40 minutes of continues pulling and pushing. The second you apply the slightest bit of force it instantly breaks the thing you're trying to pull apart.
