I use my steam deck when I am away so battery life is a big deal for my use case. Also that trackpad is great for point and click games like rimworld and the precise aiming when using the trackpad on FPS games. I don't need more performance for my steam library because most of my games are low graphics indie games. 1. Rimworld 2. Project Zomboid 3. Songs of Syx 4. KeeperRL 5. Dead Cells 6. Don't starve 7. Kenshi 8. Binding of Isaac Etc. So more battery life please valve.

I was very much on the fence between these two devices and ended up ordering the steam deck oled. As much as i enjoy multiplayer shooters that don't run on it, I feel like those games are going to generally be more enjoyable at my desk with a keyboard and mouse anyway. I really thought about my use case for a handheld and as nice as the detachable controllers, kickstand, and fps mode sound, I really don't see myself getting much use out of those features when I'm primarily going to be using it while chilling on the couch. So I'll probably be mainly using it for single player titles and indies. Legion Go can do all that too of course, but from what I've seen the ergonomics when not taking advantage of the detachable controllers would be something I'd worry about, especially with the extra weight. Not to mention the headaches that can come with Windows.

I'm seriously conflicted between these two. I own an OLED LG CX 65" With i7-11700kf/RTX 3080/32GB pc, so fairly on the entry level of high end pc gaming, since I run most games at 4k resolutions at high settings. I want a handheld console, not so much for on the go, but for being able to kick back in my bed, or use it around the house, so I can keep it plugged in at all times. The OLED is nice, but resolution is such a huge thing. I noticed the difference immediately when I upgraded resolutions from 1080, to 1440, to 4k when gaming and felt I couldn't go back. So I'm torn between the 800 vs 1600 resolution and the FPS in games. So my question is, can you really not tell the difference between 1600 and 800 resolutions? And how much of an FPS are we talking between the two? Most recent games I've played are Dragons Dogma 2, Helldivers 2, Palworld, but I think if I got a handheld, I would focus on more games like Hades, D2R or D4 (if they are capable of it), but maybe even cyberpunk or others. Which one do you recommend if you can make sense of this post?
@vincekara94464 ай бұрын
Between 7.4' 800p SD OLED vs 8.8' 1600p LCD, I would opt for the LG as you're already biased with the resolution of your current system and windows OS knowledgeable. With Linux OS, you'll have to tweak, etc to get all different apps to run such as Xbox, Epic etc
@evp1597 ай бұрын
How do you not have a problem with doing "tricks" on the steam deck to get windows, epic etc. But have a problem with every little legion issue. Even though the legion can do this "out of the box". This is just weird
@KillerCam10207 ай бұрын
Because it’s completely optional to do that! I don’t necessarily have an issue with the legion. It’s more like I appreciate the console like experience of the deck more. I don’t have a problem with every little legion issue. I just find The legions issues to be distractions from gaming. Which the deck has very little and is more streamlined. You turn it on your see your game library you hit play. But you do bring up a good point of the legion being able to do all that out of the box and that is very valid and that’s a good reason to choose the legion if most of your games are not on Steam but most of mine are on Steam epic games and other launchers are just bonuses.

Bit late to this to this. But you sure left out some features that the legion has. Seems somewhat biased towards the SD. For example you can absolutely have that console UI. In fact it is part of the Legion. Also running windows gives you many options to get more out of the system. Now I’m not bagging on the SD and would recommend it for someone who basically wants little room for adjustment. Where the Legion seems to be more of something a PC gamer would want. Though that is just how I feel.

You bring up some good points, to be honest I was very overwhelmed at the time of writing. At the time of writing this I was just shocked how much I enjoyed the steam deck experience. I had never owned one before and had only been gaming on the legion go. If by console Ui you mean legion space, then at the time of writing this it was a complete MESS lol like it was laggy buggy and difficult to navigate. But yes you can use big picture mode on steam but it still requires steps to get in there. I’m actually currently writing my legion go 1 year review so I will be addressing a lot of this stuff in there. But my opinion has changed a good amount. But lastly yes windows is both a good and bad thing depending on the users wants and needs especially.

You lost me at the resolution argument. Yea, the OLED is gorgeous but the difference in resolution is immediately obvious in person. I don’t have a Legion personally but on my ROG Ally even 900p was noticeably sharper than my SD let alone 1080p. On the LeGo I assume one you choose something like 1200p as a compromise between visual fidelity and battery life.
@urboijash395524 күн бұрын
The Legion Go is just too big for me. I’d get a gaming laptop if that’s what I was after. I returned my Ally because it felt clunky, cheap and was a hassle to use overall and i hated needing to be plugged in to power to get the most out of it. If I want to play demanding games I play on my home rig or one of my consoles. Handheld gaming should be pick up and go imo. The deck is the perfect sweet spot for me. I also despise windows, and I am an IT.

What I liked about the legion go is that removing the controller and hold it in portrait, you will have a windows 11 tablet. Not the best tablet but functional to do some light work. Also I noticed setting the vram manually in the bios instead of auto helps with frame time pacing. You will lose a Chunk of the ram, so I debloated the win 11 to free more ram.

@@Stranger5808 how's that, I'm using a lesser LCD Version steam deck with a external SSD that has Windows 10 on it coupled with a ultra wide monitor at a dock with mouse and keyboard and I'm perfectly alright with it for the past year or so. Been playing battlefield 1 and killing floor 2 and the performance is godly. I'm thinking of getting a Lenovo Legion go to be able to play the new games eventually.

i had an oled switch and tuned the legion go screen to almost as goon as the switch with emulated games. i sold the switch not long after that as the go is much more versatile. if the oled steam deck's only trick is the oled screen then i would choose the Go over it any day as the go has a really good screen even if it isn't oled.

Steam deck is a better overall experience for me. Legion is annoying. Finding drivers and dealing with windows crashing all the time really got on my nerves. If you need to play COD on the go.. than maybe the legions issues are worth it. But if you don't play COD or EAs crappy games, and want a smoother, game on the go experience: get a steam deck oled. You won't be sorry.

I haven't test it on Steamdeck though but I can run Android Studio on Legion Go, build the code and run on emulator (and there are a coming soon android apps compatibily to running on it). So I don't have to bring my laptop everywhere. It can alo run Blender though rendering time takes forever.

All those reviewers sugarcoating the steam deck. I also have it but i hate the compatibility problems. Starting games on epic games or other launchers is a pain the ass. Anti cheat games don't work. It doesn't support FMV so I can't play KH games. Simplest things in windows are a hassle to do in Linux. I put Windows on it and that's how I'm using it. Next time I'll go with a windows handheld.
