@@RedGamelyon switch is cheaper, controllers are removable so way better for local multiplayer. Games are more fun for casual play and local multiplayer. And emulating games is never good and there are always bugs, crashes, etc. If you just wanna play pc games on the go then obviously steam deck but they are in way different categories even though they seem similar at first.

@@kalebanderson6564 Switch is not cheaper they’re around if not the same price for the base models unless you mean the lite which doesn’t have removable controllers which is an inconsequential feature because you can hook up any controller to the steam deck even the joycons via bluetooth. I have a lot of experience with emulation and I don’t where you got that idea that theres hella bugs and crashes and shit but that’s simply not the case the majority of the time. The steam deck is an emulation beast and should not be underestimated. They’re both handhelds they’re not in different categories ones does something better than the other and has more options because you can play pc games too it’s not in a different category because it can play pc games that’s a feature of the steam deck. I’ve been playing Totk on the steamdeck since I bought physically and i can even play it at 60 fps with minor dips here and there and i can even have mods installed that enhance or just add something fun to the game. And it’s all portable. I’m sorry dude but the steam deck vs switch the steam deck is winning in all categories.

You'll need to buy at least 2 extra controllers for the steam deck to make it comparable with the switch and then also buy the dock. All I'm looking to play is mario kart, super smash bros, and maybe more of those kind of chill games because im not a huge gamer anymore and I have a pc anyways to play all the AAA games if i want to. Which is why I said they are kinda 2 different categories. Switch is for people who like playing games with friends and playing all the classic nintendo games while the steam deck is more for hardcore gamers. But imo if your a hardcore gamer then you most likely have a pc so unless you're obsessed and need to play everywhere you go then yeah ig go for the steam deck. Or if you dont have a pc and want to play AAA games but don't feel like buying a pc and still want a handheld then the steam deck is the obvious choice as well. Just because one has better specs doesn't make the other one bad. Just different uses for it. Also better battery life on switch, oled screen looks nicer, better for travel, and motion controls.

Coming from a person that has the switch OLED and steam deck I like them for different things I like being able to run AAA games and Sony exclusives and handheld mode. Also, I like that I can go to desktop mode and use it as a full on computer when I’m using my dock to switch I like it more for games like crash bandicoot Mario games all the Nintendo exclusives Pokémon and yes, I know they have a Nintendo switch emulator but I had the switch first and I feel like I still want to keep it and I have a ton of games for it so I’m not going to waste my time on emulation plus I like the battery life more on the switch. I understand that the steam deck is a more powerful system and requires more battery usage and that’s fine. I feel like if you have a good enough power pack, you can squeeze out some extra time I feel like they just serve different purposes, and therefore different types of gamers like do you casually want to play god of war for our running 60 FPS or close to it with a decent resolution or do you want to play Zelda breath of the wild for a few hours? They’re both great games, but obviously god of war is going to have better graphics so it’s kind a like pick your poison at that point

I have both, played my switch for about a month, recently got a steam deck and playing my PC games while on break or on the couch is a game changer. Tbh I havent really been playing on my PC since I got it

I have both and the main reason I prefer the Switch is because I can launch a game without a million launcher issues (especially with any ubisoft game). Its also worth noting that the Switch is 5 years older than the Steam Deck and it's arm-based. A more worthy competitor will hopefully come out next year but ill always love the comfort and ease of a console no matter how good my PC is

I have both and I gotta day that yes the steam deck does look better and can process things better however the button layout on the steam deck does feel a bit weird with how high the joysticks are and it's a bit tough to use the bumpers with souls games on the deck but the biggest thing that makes it a bit easier to use the switch is the battery life. If I wanna maximize the battery life to add a extra half hour to a 2 hour battery life you gotta mess with the settings a while bunch to get the best settings, at the same time it is dependent on which game you play since some last only an hour while others last 6 hours

Get a used V1 switch, jailbreak it, boom you got basically a mini steamdeck for about 200 bucks. IMO switch is better for families, co-op, and light emulation (up to maybe gamecube/PS2). Steam deck is better for heavy gaming, but is less portable and more expensive. I love both a lot.

The Steam Deck has a lot of power, can run a lot of modern games from PC decently, cheap game prices, and has the great benefit of free multiplayer. BUT, is not as portable as the Switch, has waay less battery life and the Switch has this amazing feature of the joycons, where you can play multiplayer with a friend everywhere you want. And the system is not really stable. Is not really a device where you always can install a game and just play it. It needs a lot of tinkering sometimes. So yeah, it's kind of diferent Like someone said, it's still incomplete

I have both the Steam Deck and the Switch, I only use my Switch for TOTK, and really, I didn’t necessarily need a switch for that because I could just emulate it. Besides, I would want to own a legitimate copy so I could emulate it legally, which I’m not planning to do right now, but I always could. I think that both systems offer a fun and enjoyable experience, I don’t see how anyone could say otherwise, but as for which platform is actually superior, its the Steam Deck.

The steam deck is better than the switch not just in specs, first it can play ps exclusives and xbox exclusives and of course nintendo switchs games, second you can literally install windows, third is that you can dock it if you buy a docking station for it or plug in a 3rd party usb c to hdmi, usb, and other ports. The switch is only good for its joycons.

I only have a switch, but ngl, take zelda, mario and pokemon away from it and i’ll take a steam deck any day. Pretty much everything else it can play and better. Even zelda botw if you use emulator

Unfair to compare specs of the two because switch was much older. Besides, you can never have physical game collections with steam deck. Your account can be hacked or banned. The games are never really yours. Not unlike switch, if you buy a physical game, it's yours.

Isnt it kinda unfair to compare both of them given pne was released back in 2017 and the other was released just last year after 5 years. Obviously steam deck will have hetter hardware because it's new I love steam deck but you gotta admit that nintendo switch really a cool console given that it utilizes the games potential to the fullest on its hardware. Botw, totk and odyssey they cant run better fps but they are really damn good for what they can do on switch. Deck can also play them and thats great because of better fps and all that but lets not forget that they were released on switch so technically even if the other hardware can play them better, they are still something for nintendo. So running those games on really doesnt count. Its still a win for switch because you are playing its game on another console. Its an old hardware so ofc deck is way better in every aspect but idk i genuinely love switch too. I love steam deck its amazing but ill still give edge to switch just for their creativity thats really all. Even the silliest games they have really have good gameplay. Yea they qre meant for kids but they are so enjoyable. A game is not just great cinematics or graphics. Alot of people obsess on fps and i get that better fps means better quality but a game is not just good fps either. A lot of new games on other consoles have hyper realistic graphics with actually decent storu but horrible gameplay. They rely on generic mechanics and QTE. Whereas each nintendo game is different from esch other in terms of gameplay and they are actually fun. I have ps5 switch snd a really good pc and i spent more time on switch than anything else. I dont even open ps5 anymore. Now if you compare cs go with any nintendo game ill give it to go.. its amazing, it have amazing gameplau and everything. Bht thats what m saying. Old games had was better gameplay than anything else. Prince of persia, cs 1.6, gesrs of war, old halo games, idk what not..but the quality really declined as we move ahead whereas nintendo just kept it steady with their series. Sure you can run nintendo games better on other consoles or pc but that doesnt change the fact its nintendo game. Hence i choose nintendo Thank you for reading

How hard is it to comprehend that some people think the steam deck is big ugly and clonky, no physical games, tons of overheating, awful battery life, a hacked switch can play ps2 games. Also the “100 dollars” isn’t true because pc games has much worse compression than nintendo games, if a switch games is 5 gigs the pc version is usually like 20 gigs. The steam deck is cool and I hate nintendo but from an ergonomic perspective I love my switch so much more, sold my deck and will just save up for a rog ally or something much better anways

I really dont think the devs are losing any money even with pirating and emulation run rampant. Do you realize how many people buy games who arent tech savy enough to even know how to pirate or emulate? If game devs were starving artists due to these issues the gaming industry would have ended decades ago lol.. Tripple A game devs are literally doing fine financially. And to the game devs who only create games for profit, their games probably suck to begin with.. Game devs are pursuing a creative endeavor when they set out to make a game, they do it bc they love it not just bc its a job. The cyberpunk team literally encouraged the pirating of their game when it came out. They wanted it in as many hands as possible.

Switch wins in battery and portability. Also in the fact that the Switch is a console and the Steam Deck is a PC, which matters a lot.
