My husband's offered to help buy me a steam deck next week just have to pay back half of it. But this way I'll get it sooner. First thing I'm doing is emulation on the system

I definitely agree with your hot take about the smaller handhelds being better for older emulation. I got my Retroid Pocket 3 a month ago and have been having a blast using it for Game Boy, SNES, N64, PSP, etc. all of that just feels right in a small portable system like that. I also recently got my Steam Deck and while I haven’t tried out any emulation on it yet I I could see it being a good device for some of the more demanding stuff like PS2, GameCube, Wii U, etc. Basically I like having different ways to play different games rather than needing to having everything on one thing. Options are a great thing!

I like my mid tier Steam Deck! I managed to even get my collection of Windows PC games and Emudeck working on it (thanks to step-by-step tutorials from Retro Game Corps and Taki Udon). The number of games Steam provides for your Deck is amazing (If you get a Deck the Steam Store has more than enough games to choose from in accordance to the games you prefer)! I'm playing a Bookworm Adventures/Super Metroid- like game from Steam called Orbi's Chronicles at the moment, awesome game! While the Steam Deck is my number one go to for gaming at the moment, I still have my Powkiddy X17. My Powkiddy X17 is my almost-a-Steam-Deck handheld. My X17 also comes in all black, is practically just as large as a Steam Deck, has a 7 inch display, has a micro SD slot, has bulky grips, has a touchscreen, can emulate with Retroarch. My X17 is not as powerful as my Deck but it does everything my Deck does except run PC/Steam games (my X17 runs Android games instead of PC games so it does just as much). Besides those I've kept and still play from time to time my Anbernic RG353P, Anberinic RG300X, Anbernic RG351V, Powkiddy Max 2, Powkiddy A66 and Miyoo Mini. From those less powerful handhelds I play the RG353P the most. In addition to all of that I may also use my mini desktop Windows PCs for Steam/PC/Android games. I also use a 10 inch Windows tablet as a portable PC handheld at times. Since my favorite PC games are rpg word games, the touchscreen works perfectly for that. You can actually use a Windows Tablet to play games like Bookworm Adventures or Scrabble Journey, no physical controls needed for those games, just the touchscreen.

I've seen others run switch games, but I haven't done so yet myself, so I'm not sure how well they run. I may try to test it in the future if I can figure it out

Can you do a video with pokemon gale for GameCube on it. I'm contemplating buying it but wanted to see how this game plus harvest moon tree of tranquility for wii and pokemon coliseum works on it

Sure, I was planning on doing another vid, as I had a few more games that I wanted to test as well. I'll have to check, I'm pretty sure I have Pokemon Coliseum and Harvest Moon, I'll see if I can track down a copy of Gale of Darkness.

Why didn't u show how to get the rams n the other stuff? Like why bother showing if ur not going to show it completely?

Rom files are at best a legal gray area, so I'm not going to say how to get them. I didn't show how to install them on the device because there are multiple ways to do so and I probably used one of the most complicated. What I did was upload the files to my Google drive account from my computer, and then logged into Google drive from desktop mode on the Steam Deck and downloaded them from there. You can also copy the files to an SD card, or a usb-c flash drive which to me seems a lot easier, but I already had an SD card in the system that I was using for storage, and I don't have a flash drive I can use currently. retrogamecorps.com/2022/10/16/steam-deck-emulation-starter-guide/ That website has more instructions on how to copy over the files.
