Top notch video! My great grandfather, grandfather and uncle all worked on the Irish rails as train engineers. As a matter of fact, my uncle started out as his father’s, my grandfather, fireman. Does anyone know of any books detailing the types of steamers used from the early 1900s up to the sixties? I live in the States and would like my grandchildren to know more about their heritage. A good book is Locomotives of the GSR, it might be a bit pricey depending on where you get it but I’ve had it described to me before as ‘the green bible’, it has a plethora of stuff in it :)

What type of fuel are they using to heat the boiler?

As far as I'm aware, they burn wood to heat the boiler.
