Finely tuned. 131 seems to run better than Merlin.

​@@OscarOSullivan Due to the passing of Northern Ireland's only steam engine qualified driver, Noel Playfair, there hasn't been a steam railtour in Northern Ireland for almost two years now. At the same time, NIR are in the midst of a major modernisation programme which is slated to last some 10 years, with the aim of expanding parts of the railway network, and increasing service frequency to their maximum across the board. Because of these changes, it is unlikely that NIR will allow steam services on their network again as they take up valuable slots on the timetable and, when they break down, they cause massive headaches and delays across the network.

My grandfather was a steam man who retired in 1956, following forty plus years of trips to the West and south to Cork. Can anyone tell me what model 131 is and approximately what years it was in service? I’d like to pass a bit of family history on to my grandchildren. Many thanks.
