Worked for Elden Ring 3/4/22..but my Steam didn't have the Settings option. Instead I had to manually update steam(its one of the options) and it worked.

It worked for me first try. Maybe try running the game as administrator? Or scan & repair the game files in steam and try this method again. I'm not sure though I'm not very smart about this stuff lol. Hope you guys can figure it out

This problem also appears when you download old steam games from not steam and using the old client example is cs 1.6 which is rmeoved from steam and usibg the old client
