A friend of mine once had a Porter-Cable 6" wet-dry belt grinder in his shop. It had a five horsepower motor on it and he typically ran 60 grit belts on it.

Super sweet attention to detail as always. Looks factory. Itll be interesting to see how you like the DRO. We had a couple that gave us fits and finally failed and I was always frustrated with the low resolution. Even on the planer .001" is so handy for speed and changing setups. We now have the iGaging dro's on everything that read to .0015. They have some issues of their own.

It is a concern that it will get hit and that’s why am mounting it under the table. Although I suspect I’ll probably like it. I have modified some of the other arrangements to be more robust and accurate. Hopefully it will facilitate the long-term use of it

@@jackforsberg1326 Our sensor strip and read head is not in the most protected location and potentially gets knocked around a little. Its never been an issue. Since switching to the higher resolution units on everything, other than a couple of connection issues (the iGaging units have a silly plug-in wire from the read head to the display), I havent had much trouble. The .001" resolution is what I was after but I have never been in a position to absorb the cost of a really good quality DRO from Proscale. As much as I hate the China thing the iGaging have been very accurate. I had a Wixey on the shaper and the wide sander for a while and the resolution was just too low. .001 was essential there but its even super handy on the planer as crazy as that may sound.

@@fpoastro i will try to remember to post an update . accuracy on this unit is .0005" it is there latest make . that what the manual said anyway . thanks for the input its what i was looking for Mark.

@@jackEnglishmachines that's good news. They use to be .005 which sounds pretty darn accurate but never cut the mustard for us. I couldn't live without dro's on everything now that weve added them. Real game changer for speed. Just wish mine looked as bad ass as yours lol
