I came here to learn about steam injectors. I stayed (watched several times) to take in that beautiful banjo music.

You make great vids sir, y had seen this one as soon as it came out but i have some questions because i am interested in making a similar model : Is it with this dual jet model the output pressure gain is greater than a common sigle jet injector ? Is it more reliable and less subject to problems than single jet one ? You prefere work with this model instead of other ? ( In other words is the greater performances enough, is it worth the greater steam consumption ?) These are the questions I haven't really found answers to and will probably only have once I try mine ... The thing i would like is that the output pressure obtained with this model is greater than the one obtained with a single jet model to increase the reliability because i have an economiser in the smoke box between the injector and the boiler. And i had never seen any example of steam injector feeding a boiler with an economiser after the injector !

The catalog information I have says the dual tube will handle hotter feed water or actually a wider range of suction water temperature. It will also deliver that water to the boiler at a higher temperature. The delivery pressure is probably not any greater than a single tube style. It is likely dual tube injectors consume more steam than a single but the energy is recovered in the higher discharge temperature discounting radiant losses. The biggest problem with this style of injector is if the suction water flow is interrupted, all of the internal flows and pressures are disrupted and steam will be blown back through the suction path. This generally disqualifies this kind of injector for traction engine or locomotive use.

@@lineshaftrestorations7903 Thank you very much for your complete and quick answer, that is why especially automatic models were retained for traction engines and locomotives. I will try to make one and see what I think! Thank you.🤗
