I regretted buying DA:V at the beginning because of the early ham-fisted storytelling and dialog. Suddenly around 15 hours in it became a ton of fun and it all started working. It’s definitely worth it at the sale price. I hope BioWare gets a stab at another Dragon Age game because I would love a follow up. It’s a really good game despite all the crap it got from people that didn’t even try it.

A few other titles worth shouting out: Chaosgate Daemonhunters is on a deep sale with all of its DLC, along with Aliens: Colonial Marines for anyone looking for some top-notch tactical combat. Showgunners and Old World are both $10, and the Code Vein Deluxe edition is just $12. Lots of great deals on great games this year!
@CookinBeatloaf3 күн бұрын
What are the genres for those and are they games for fans of existing series?
@JustinFike3 күн бұрын
@@CookinBeatloaf Daemonhunters and Aliens are both tactical strategy games. Showgunners is kind of a tactical combat sim with a lot of style (Mortym has a great review of it on the channel) and Old World is a historical 4x in the same vein as Civilization series but with a tighter focus on the bronze age. Code Vein is a souls like with a heavy anime skin. All of them are stand alone games so you don't need to have played any previous games to enjoy them.

Runs great on the steam deck too! Absolute steal 👌🏻

both Kingmaker and WotR have a bunch of DLC, some of them better than others
@scottycheesecake3 күн бұрын
@@SpecShadow While true, you don't need any DLC to enjoy the games they are complete products. Half the DLCs are standalone stuff with very minor bonuses to main game. Thanks for the video. Please allow me two comments: 1. The Outer Worlds is available for no extra cost for Amazon Prime customers at the moment, where they offer a GOG key. I don't know if it includes the two DLCs. I like both DLCs, so that is something to consider. In the worst case the two DLCs may add up to more than the whole package on Steam, but I am leaning far out of my window since I have played and finished it already. 2. Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines is a classic with a unique outlook. I love this game. It is not the basic blood-sucking vampire game here. The game offers a great lore of a secret vampire society living widlely unknown within human civilization. You can roleplay as a vampire belonging to a specific clan out of a selection of quite a few different ones. Each clan has a unique skillset, plays differently, and has some intersting gameplay quirks. Please keep in mind, it is a fairly old game, and the mentioned patch is mandatory. I believe GOG is the way to go here for this single-player gem, where the patch is included automatically. Also, keep in mind, that the graphics look less detailed than in modern games, and the controls may be a little bit clunky. It was made with the source engine of HL2 at that time. If you can deal with a so-so aged game, a world with unique characters, quests, and storylines with multipe endings wait for you.

@Briarthefriar2 күн бұрын
I like to think I'm a story person but I am pretty lenient in a lot of ways. But the story kind of takes a huge nosedive when you get to the latter end of the game (second major city) and kind of ends before it begins. The world is also very small and repetitive in a lot of ways. However, I wish we could stay in the endgame area forever. That place was a lot of fun!
@gregallan42912 күн бұрын
As someone who enjoys both a lot, but prefers the first, I can kinda see the sentiment shared across the player base. It's a "reimagining" of the first game had they the technology and time to make what they originally envisioned, but what they forgot were the little things that despite its rough appearance, made Dragons Dogma 1 so appealing to its niche fanbase. Movement is one of the biggest things for me, I really loved the speed and precision in DD's movement, but slow and sometimes sluggish movement in DD2 doesn't hit the same. Enemies were reskinned all the time in the first, and whilst we did get new enemies, I don't believe we got "enough" of them. And the story I believe is a lot of people's biggest gripe. Unlike the first one where it started weak and was brilliant by the end, the opposite is true for DD2.
