Hi Aunty Liew! The big packet (500g) of yeast can be kept longer if you keep in the freezer. Once you open the bag, divide them into a few clean, dry and air tight containers. Put one container in the fridge for current use, and store the rest in the freezer. Use one container at a time. My yeast lasted till expiry date. No wastage at all.
Thanks for your detail method of making this kuih. I actually have the same recipe from other channel since last year but the whisking method was not shown in detail. And hence my kuih quality is not stable each time I make. After I watched your video, I realized I over whisked the batter in the past. I tried your method today and it is SOOOoooo successful. It is actually the salt that will deactivate the yeast. Hence it is always instructed not to put the yeast and salt together. Sugar helps to feed the yeast and is very important to have sugar when using yeast in baking. So you can put sugar and yeast together :D
