Oh my dear Lord the video is just astonishing, and it fits with the song perfectly... The universe, the tune, and the mechanic sounds totally got me falling in love. I thought this song ended well until I realised, after several years of listening to it, that the ending doesn't feel so happy anymore... The boy at the end kinda made himself alone. From his point of view, he has two friends, the doll and the robot. But from an external point of view, it's a boy with a plushie and an electric robot (that has no soul left) Very bitter sweet

On the contrary, the soul is actually transferred to the little robot! By making the robot smaller, the boy made it possible for the robot to run on the remaining soul still available + electricity instead of a whole human soul. In the last scene you can see the boy walking with a grown up version of the original boy, and also the robot finally singing with him, implying that they're all together now :)

I remember watching this the morning it came out. Family friends were in town, so I woke up on the couch, with this in my recommended. I loved it so much that I played it on loop until Christmas. I can't believe it has been almost 5 years since this came out. So many memories.

I was crying as soon as the second boy found the robot. Then, when the second boy rebuilt the robot and made it run on electricity rather than souls, I started laughing and had an urge to flip off the screen. That was such a bittersweet moment, an anticlimactic end to a story of hardship and struggle, only to be ended with *electricity* . Probably that's not how it was intended, but that's how it seemed to me, a big "F you" to sad stories. Now I feel bad for thinking that, after reading all of the comments...

I love this story, it tells of a robot who doesn't want to make the mistake from his past life, an orphan with a hidden talent and his rabbit plush. Together they help each other and become friends. The moral: Friendships can last with those we have lost and we can make freinds with others who have lost others. Or that is what I think it is

A long time has passed A sad lonely boy came to the junkyard Wandering aimlessly until he found A broken down robot But to his surprise The robot functioned still Desperately it tried to speak Reaching out to the boy It pleaded and it begged "Please give me a soul" And without a second thought the boy agree agreed to give it his soul For he had no friends nor family the boy felt unwanted and upon hearing this the robot remembered a memory A long time ago there was a boy who gave his soul to a robot out of kindness but was naive was the price he paid so dearly for He went home to see his family in grief, for their lost child they chased him away for they thought that he was the robot that took their son away Soon the boy grew to despise and hate his robotic shell but he realized that he was the robot he lived in regret of what he's done He decided that he will not take the boy's soul For He does not want the same fate for the boy and instead he gave the boy his doll and ask to love it in its place and then he felt his souls fading away. He was breaking down Then the boy took the little broken parts and he built a tiny robot that ran on electricity instead of souls and the boy will never be alone again for he made two new friends the doll, the robot, and the boy lived together Happily :) lyrics
