5:12 The Time Traveling Delorean Car in the mall. I bet the mall wishes it could go back in time to figure out how to change the course of history to save the malls. They're trying, but it's probably not enough with the aquarium and fun zones and stuff.

The episode where Michael brought the ladies of the office to the Steamtown mall shows the mall as thriving. Hurts to see it so dead now.

This mall looks so depressing, I’m kinda surprised that some stores are still on the 1st floor, but when you go up to the 2nd floor, there’s nothing there, this mall looks very depressing and got hit very hard.

It represents Scranton well. A dead city is the heart of the rust belt built on coal towns.

The pandemic really hit this mall. A lot of the vendors in the food court/marketplace have permanently closed. I stopped in early January of this year on a Monday evening. At that point there were only 8 stores open on the main level and even less on the second floor. It was a true ghost town. There appears to be construction for more doctor offices. As you showed in the video the door to the rail yard has been closed for over a year now. It’s such a stark contrast to what this mall used to be. The other two malls in the surrounding area really hurt Steamtown. I’ll be interested to see what the future holds.

This mall used to be great. I visited my parents here in 2010 and it was bustling. I moved here to be with my mom in 2021 and my mouth dropped when I visited. Aside from the aquarium I have absolutley no reason to come here. It is ghost town. It's located in the downtown area which is also a ghost town

Hey there! You should really check out the Meriden mall in Meriden ct. it’s not doing so good. It lost two anchors got sold to some lame company and more stores close every other week! Would be cool to see a video that hits close to home

I keep saying we should get back there. Last we visited it was owned by Westfield still. We do have a video from Meriden, but the footage is over 2 years old by this point.

At 13:24 there is a down escalator that starts at the lower level. Were there basement stores at one point?

It’s really unsurprising how this mall has barely changed ever since Dan Bell has been here, there’s still little to nothing when it comes to stores, it looks entirely abandoned even in the covid environment. This mall was nothing but a bad idea, they should’ve never built this place and thought of something else

It is a shame that the Marketplace at Steamtown never. became more successful. It has been sold several times and there has been a turnover in the retailers. I hope that the Electric City Aquarium becomes successful as a tourist attraction. Hopefully it will draw visitors who have come to visit the Steamtown National Historic Site and some of the other tourist attractions in and around Scranton such as the Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour. Perhaps making the Marketplace more tourism oriented, possibly bringing in another attraction similar to the aquarium can allow the Marketplace to be repurposed as being tourism oriented rather than retail oriented although they could retain some of the retail. Also, the food court upstairs could be expanded outdoors in the warmer weather so folks could sit out and look across toward the Steamtown National Historic Site.
