Well they aren't the same size machine. The 650 is rated to lift 2500 lbs and 259 like almost 2100 lbs. We have both machines as well. Cat is much nicer to work on for sure. If you get a hydraulic leak on the 650 it has a very small hydraulic tank so you'd be down for with a leak. Both my machines are fully loaded. 650 with the wide tracks as well. We are selling the 650 and keeping the 259. The ride is nicer with the cat and it has a reverse camera. 650 is a great machine. Just hate working on it and cat support is better.

Own a 2019 t650 and it's a crazy good machine. Was going to trade up to the 770 but decided to keep the 650.

Which one do you think would be more suited for property maintenance? Which one is more maintainable/easy to maintain?

They’re both gonna be good for property maintenance. Those size units wouldn’t be the best for mulchers. They’re also both pretty easy to maintain. You won’t go wrong with either one. The bobcat will lift more weight and will lift higher than the CAT. The decision is yours. Just make sure it was taken care of if buying used.

@@stedder8436 Thanks for the input. Been really leaning towards the T650 for the lift capacity. I'll most likely try and buy used if I can find one that isn't too beat up with a decent price and pick up a brush hog attachment for it.

im sure the bobcat has a better lifting capacity but you have to go down all the way curl back as far as she goes and then go up, i own a 259d and I find that works well, but bob cat has better design to curl back that is easy to be seen

Negative. The T590 is 66 horsepower and weighs 7800 lbs.

Hydraulics must be weak on the cat. I have a 259d and have lifted 5k pound logs onto a trailer with it. I’ve had bobcat and cat. Both good machines but let’s compare a 289 to that t650.

Go look up specs on the two. Would not be close to equal. Cat 289d weight is 10533 lbs. some brand loyal people just don’t wanna accept what is. Nothing is wrong with my 259d. Cat is just weaker. Both are good machines overall. Cats drive motor hoses are complete trash though.

The 1 hp is not that big of a difference but the 259d weighs 800 plus more pounds than the t595. The 650 and the 259 d are the closest in hp and weight. Also the t595 is the same horsepower as the 650

Could just look up the specs for both machines and draw the same conclusion. The T650 has a much higher rated operating capacity and tipping load than the cat 259D.. Not such a shocking revelation that it lifts more in the real world. That is why people are saying to compare a t590 or t66 etc to a 259d, or a Cat that.. since those machines match more evenly in what they're designed for and actual performance ratings are. I guess you could claim Bobcat has figured out how to get more out of a machine with less weight or HP, but the 259d simply isn't in the same class or made to compete with a t650. And this is coming from a Bobcat fan boy so to speak, Ive owned/ran only bobcats other than my asv rt30 my whole life, and if I were to replace my current 590 with a cat, the 259 would be as many have said, the most comparable machine, and what i would look at.

The cat weighs 1000-1100 more pounds than the 590. The 650 weighs about 300 lbs more. Horsepower is almost identical. Sorry but the 650 and the 259d are closer in weight and hp.

@@stedder8436 those are 2 arbitrary metrics to base a comparison like this tho. Weight means nothing, as neither machine is tipping, Horsepower means a bit more, but ultimately you are comparing the hydraulic strength and pressure that the machines pump can output here. The Bobcat obviously has a much beefier hydraulic pump/system, so HP is not as important, just means the bobcat is working its engine harder. The 259D is 100% in the same class and a direct competitor to the 205 / 590 / t66 lines of bobcats not the 650.

@@stedder8436 I'll put it this way, very simply and then leave it be; I could have told you exactly the results of this test before ever even pressing play on the video. Using your metrics of comparison of weight and HP, well now its a toss up as to which machine will win because both appear equivalent. What then, is a better metric for comparison for the actual capability of a machine.

I've run and use both in heavy dirt work industry Both have their merit however Bobcat has always impressed me with their equipment and I would take a Bobcat over a cat any day of the week

I would agree with that. I’ve owned both and both are good machines. Bobcat has always seemed a little more capable to me. So far bobcat is 2-0 against CAT.

Correct. Bobcat buckets have more capacity than caterpillar buckets when you compare same width buckets.
