WOW! That looks so freaking awesome! I had to vicariously ride it several times. I haven't been on a rollercoaster since 1976/77. And, that was the Little Dipper in Danville Illinois. It was the #1 ride in our small amusement park, where it was in operation from the mid to late 1920's until 1977, when the owners closed shop. It may not have been the biggest or fastest ever built. But, it was all our, and we loved it.

Many coasters have differently spaced cross-ties throughout the layout for high and low stress areas. It's really obvious with arrows, but some others do it too.

Usually they change the spacing (and with that the number) of the cross ties for a whole track segment. But as I said, here it looks like someone removed crossties within a track part.

The track is engineered with over triple times the highest possible stress load. The track is plenty strong. Nice eye though, I didn’t catch it until I read your comment and had to watch the video over again.

But it just looks like they decided on a threshold of how many cross ties are needed depending on the force and went ahead and removed each single one that wasn't needed for the threshold, instead of changing the density of cross ties for the whole section.

While yes, slow chains increase the tension--HOWEVER, they are HORRENDOUS for throughput. You want to maximize the number of people who get to ride your ride, while at the same time, shortening the time they queue for it as MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Because after all, who is going to wait in line for 4 hours?
