I think Incomparable should be in A tier. It is not as competitive as Stalingrad or Mecklenburg, sometimes you get permaspotted by a CV or devstruck through the bow by a Satsuma, but flying down a flank and popping up 10km away from the enemy is just so much fun. Because of its big guns, hydro, torpedos, stealth and speed I think it has a lot of carry potential, especially when divisioned with dds.

The problem with that is it kind of depends on the quality of your enemies. I've had these amazing flanks, and oh boy, with good div mates its a TON of fun, but if the enemy team is aware of what you're doing (for example, because a CV actually did his job and spotted where you're going early on) you'll have an incredibly hard time. And if you're caught, you're screwed.

I went for the Austin as my first steel ship for the unique gameplay. Saving up for the Bourgogne right now as I am also a big fan of French battleships

Bourgogne hands down the "most fun" ship for me to play. Can run around the map harassing everyone and everything with ease. The reload booster is an amazing surprise, especially when you get low HP with Adrenaline Rush. Got it after watching your recommendations.

PQ, I was like you once, I thought Plymouth was the steel weak link…dear god I was wrong. She may be my favorite of the bunch and the only one I don’t have now is FDR. She’s certainly not as crazy powerful as Borger, but she’s a VERY good ship.

I got Plymouth end of November 27k steel I consider her or Ragnar and when you look on her she is premium "Mino" have smoke & radar 9km mino have one or another and yes mino have 10k radar , faster reload guns and 2 extra torp lauchers , but first I play her I love it , that is most underated steel ship !

I got Ragnar as my second steel ship because it had a good reputation. It's a good ship, but I don't like it. DDs are my best class, but the open-water gunboat playstyle is not for me. I should have gotten Stalingrad or Mecklenburg (my 3rd and 4th steel ships) instead.

@Potato Quality Shiki is actually a succesor Class. This Class is also called Super-Yamato class. The Japanese had planed to build 5 of this but with 3 Guns each Turret and when they had been finished, they wanted to update the Yamatos with the same caliber.

PQ - For my first steel ship I was tempted by the Gato which annoys me no end when it is on the red team. However, I don't especially like playing subs, even though I have had a couple fun (tense) games in them. So I'm going for your recommendation - the Bourgogne. Thanks for the video!

I'm 2k steel away from Bourgogne. I've had to pay for battle pass to be able to get her finally. I was against battle pass thing, but i don't play clan battles, (and i don't play as much in general tbh) so i've had no other choice (other than waiting several more months). So my first steel ship will be her for sure! I'm eager to try it out! I have 450k coal as well to spend... Thank you for your work dude! Coal ship list next maybe? ;)

Bourgone was my first steel ship - she's great fun although you do miss the overmatch, probably my favourite steel ship. Stalingrad was my second. Pretty happy with that as a choice to be honest, still like Stalin even with the fires and broadside vulnerability, guns are awesome. Refuse to spend steel on CVs... Got shiki for my third I think - very inconsistent but sometimes when you citadel a ship through the nose and smash a huge chunk of the ships health. Austin is fun, very gimicky and can easily go wrong :-)! Incomparable will probably be my next ship, although interested to see your ranking of Mecklenberg so perhaps I might go for that. Have Ragnar and Smaland - for me they're both similar, Ragnar has better guns and survivability - that said Ragnar's manoverability is really bad - actally qite easy to torp!

My main CB ship is the Shikishima. It may have only 6 guns but I get 3 salvos off for every 2 by the Yamato. I also find it doesn't have as big of cheek weakness as the Yammy does. Feels so good to blap an unsuspecting broadside Stalingrad on the other side of the map.

Austin is a blast. Thanks for helping make up my mind between Bourgogne, Mecklenburg and incomparable. I have wanted the Bourgogne for a while but having my shit kicked in on many occasions by the incomparable had me thinking hard. Trenlas had me sold on the Mecklenburg, perhaps that will be next.

Currently have the Bourgogne and picked up the Incomparable with the coupon reset (since she seemed pretty unique compared to the rest) and find her.... OK. She is extremly feast or famine depending on who you end up fighting, and where you position. I end up playing her as basically a cruiser and have to rely on teammates to tank/DPS as I find many shells don't do much damage, and if you get caught out by anything you will die fast. She is interesting, and I have had fun with her, but not as much as Bourgongne or Ohio.

Got the Bourgogne as my first steel ship last weekend after 5000+ battles in the game, already broke my damage record in the few days playing with it. If you are a BB main this is a must as first steel ship, Bourgogne will be my most played ship pretty quickly it's just that good, my next steel ship will be the Mecklenburg.

I recently got my first steel ship and decided on Mecklenburg. I really wanted the unique play style of this German BB. Can't really put Lutjens on her since he is set up for my Kurfurst and other brawlers but i think it will be fun to rank up a unique commander for this ship.

I have just stalingrad and ragnar, love both. Stalingrad was a kinda dream of mine, the guns are just way too much, way, way too much. And I love open seas gunboats, so ragnar is a thing for me. Both mecklenburg and bourgogne are on the waiting list, reason? Ohio and vermont, just love those two.

I'd say you are mistaken about the Plymouth. It's not actually much like the Mino... it's citadel placement is much better, and with smoke, and radar, and hydro, and heals... and it's alpha strikes it really is scary for any DD's or Cruisers that find themselves in close proximity. Mino has much better DPM, but it's really an oversized DD that goes too slow. If you've got a press account, I highly recommend you pop in and check it out. And by the way, I do love your program. I've learned a lot from your shows.

While i have never played ANY of these ships, i personally would put Austin in A tier, with a HUGE Asterisk that is requires you to take the "thinking mans action game" sub title SERIOSULY and not be a "herp derp, ship go brrrrt". Because it is both Literally and Metaphoricly a Modernized Atlanta. Literally because she IS a Modernized Atlanta, and metaphoricly because she was BUILT to deal with the Game as it is now. Think about it, she's got All the tools the Atlanta does (except radar, which given the DPS when you pop the booster is probably a good thing), She trades in her AP shells for the FAR superior SAP shells while still keeping her HE shells, has 10km torps, and has a flatter arch to hit targets at longer ranges, and last but not least she has 32MM SIDE ARMOR! Translation, she count bounce all the 18inch plus BBs that have been added with angling, she never gets a "overpen" thanks to SAP and HE, She has GRATE AA (not that it matters), and she will SLAUGHTER anything caught in her hail of fire when the Reload Booster is active. While is TRUE she has her downsides, that just means she is actually "Balanced", which is more then you can say for SOME ships.

Does Bourgogne have much better accuracy than Alsace? I used to love my Alsace copy Wujing but after leaving the game for around 1,5 years i just came back and i thought i'll go through the Alsace grind for Repu and i was apalled by the sheer inaccuracy of the Alsace guns. I had a terrible and frustrating time with it seeing perfectly aimed salvos go short and long all day even completely missing with 12 guns standing broadside BBs at 8-9kms etc.

The 2 ships look alike but thats about all they have in common. Bourg is faster has a better rate of fire has better range has better accuracy. Then you get your reload boost which is so powerful. Were talking 36 15 inch ap shells in a 30 second span when you catch someone turning out this ability is unbelievable. It works just as good at 12 km as it does as 24 km. So you can destroy a close cruiser or battleship or destroyer just as easily as she annihilates CVs at max range that just happen to get spotted for 20 seconds while repositioning.

I bought the Stalingrad today. After that I played 2x with Gearing and 1x wih Montana and crushed the enemies by completly. Didn't touch the Stalingrad. Tech Tree ships are still worthwile.

Smolensk best steel ship. I really enjoy Mecklenburger and Austin. They play vastly different games but they both put a lot of rounds down range. I'm still learning Ragnar, I'm winning with it, but I'm not really settled in with it. I'm either getting Stalin or Z-42 next, undecided. BoredGnome is 3rd on my want list. I already have Petro, Nevsky, and Moskva. So I'm not in dire need of the Stalin, so maybe Borg is in the mix.

Yes, Incomparable has only six guns, but it is more than made up for by having *battlecruiser* dispersion. In my experience, the gunnery is more consistent than most 9 guns BBs. A tier, at least. I prefer it over Bourgogne.

I'm a BB main but just can't get to grips with the Bourgogne which I picked up first. The accuracy is just so dodge and the AP is anemic. Now the 2nd choice....Stalingrad, Incomparable or Ragnar....or wait to see whats next? To add, I would take the 6 gun Georgia over the 12 gun Bourgogne any day.

@Ajay P. Mecklenburg is great fun. It's more of a mid to long range ship but can brawl when it has too thanks to torps and german secondaries. You definitely want to build main guns thought. 22 seconds reload on 16 Agir guns is fantastic. If your target is at long range or angled load HE and impersonate a Conqueror (not to mention I think ive devstruck more dds in Mecklenburg than in any other ship thanks to 16 accurate he shells) and from mid to close range the AP will slap.

The gun angles are really what I hate the most in it, they absolutely suck and you have to show flat broadside to use all your guns, plus you have the German weaknesses with low HP pool. I feel like I take double damages compared with any other ship. The guns slap but honestly I'd rather have Bourg's flexibility in most games (faster, stealthier, more maneuverable, can slap anyone showing broadside...)

Roosevelt was a beast once. She was nerved to the ground and now even Midway, Hakuryu and Nachimow are way way better. I have only the Roosevelt and the Shikishima. I like the Shikishima but WoWs has so much RNG in the game now, that despite having the 510 mm callibre you are sometimes lucky that even one of the rounds connect at all with an enemy ship.

Anybody want to explain alpha to me, I've heard him say it every video. Does it mean penetration? If it does than I've heard him say 150 mm guns on a ship had high alpha and on another video with another ship he mentioned those 150mm guns had trouble penetrating a lot of armour so I'm just confused at this point.

Alpha-strike means a lot of damage in a short amount of time.

High alpha means the amount of damage you inflict in one strike. For example Ragnar has low alpha for a DD because she doesn't have torps that can inflict a large amount of damage in one go

You can literally never put any dd above B tier anymore cuz smaland exists if that is the reasoning. Meanwhile the cruiser with the lowest healthpool at t10 sits in the same tier with only 12% uptime of its gimmick. At least Plymouth can have incredible game impact and a smoke.

Bourgogne is more rewarding than the Shikishima. I have the Shiki and while the gun sound is great and it even slaps T 11 when the shells connect the problem is exactly this. Wows is so rng heavy right now, you are lucky when your shots connect at all. Even when you firing at an perfect angle. Especially the Shiki has this problem because she only has 6 guns.

Only 6 guns and when rng hits you in the face as a BB player, the shiki can be very inconsistant. But at the sams time WHEN the shiki shells hit all at ones, it means basically one shot to a lot of of cruisers most of the time or 3/4 of an hp bar gone from an enemy BB. But since the satsuma is out there now, people simply can pick the satsuma over the shiki now.

Honestly I went for Stalingrad. It’s the only steel ship I’ll ever be able to afford realistically, and it offers (in my opinion) the most consistent and fun guns in the game. Even games I lose, I feel like I hit when I deserve to hit; something I rarely feel on heavy-gunned ships in this game. True. Stalingrad's magic AP feels incredible. IMO fire prevention wouldn't do much because DCP for cruisers lasts only 3-5 seconds. Fearless brawler is a much more valuable skill for these big guns cruisers!

i enjoy shkishima better than satsuma its very easy to get your reload to 25 secs or less....u cant sit back and with 2.1 sigma....2 cits is 42k damage if u kite u will blow holes thru anyones bow chasing u u have like 56% torp mitigation.......decent aaa impentarable armor from 17k.....

Personally, I'm not a fan of Bourgogne mainly because Battleships for me means big guns and this why I like Japanese BBs the most. Whenever I play Yamato/Shikishima/Satsuma I make Bourgogne run away due to the penetration power of IJN BBs. Bourgogne for me is just a boring damage farmer. My favourite steel ship is Stalingrad with over 11 million XP.

Not anymore. Nachimow, Midway and Hakuryu are way better. FDR was overneved. Planes to slow, bombs miss even at an perfect angle, reload time of the plane squads at 20 seconds are to much.

@@tigrexwalker285 Yeah. First there was the rocket plane rework 2 years ago, basically nerving all CVs in the process. Then the FDR got her bomb spread increased multiple times. Nowadays this super slow bombs can basically miss even a BB even when you drop them perfectly. The only strong point about her which remains are her torpedos. She can drop a tons of torpedos in one volley. But she has 20 second reload for all her different squadrons. (Rockets, HE bombs, torpedos. All 20 seconds) This means you are flying around for 20 seconds doing literally nothing. If you call back your squadron after the first strike they are very slow in going back to your CV. Furthermore her plane squadrons are one of the slowest in the game. All of the CVs got an decrease in concealment 2 years ago. Since it is not really worth to pick concealment on CVs she sits on a 15km concealment. Combine that with slow planes and a matchmaker today which mixes up team in such a way that the match is most of the time over in 10 minutes, she is a bad CV compared to even silver currency CVs. The AA rework is on the way too. I am CV player, but i understand why a CV rework is necessary. The problem is, it will make all CVs despite the Nachimow useless. While the Nachimow will still be the most broken ship in the game, not being affected in any way by the AA rework.

It has hurt me that you have put Plymouth so low, it's one of the best cruisers in the game, it should have been at least in B, the ability to have 3 such useful consumables and great weaponry make it a lethal weapon, Plymouth is very effective at tearing apart enemy destroyers, and when you focus on a battleship, you can deal a lot of damage in a short time. To be successful, focus on not showing the ship's side, keeping a safe distance against large ships, and worrying about enemies with radar, I recommend it, it was my first steel ship, my second was Incomparable, it is somewhat fragile, it's the most difficult battleship to play, but when you learn to be careful, it's a great titan

Plymouth was my first steel ship and yeah… talk about disappointing. Don’t get me wrong when the ship work holy wow that alpha but it rarely works and your citadel can be poked from almost any angle and people know you pop under any kind of sustained fire. They really need to take Plymouth back to formula and give it a rework otherwise it’s a ship to only be bought once you have all the steel ships and even then I would just wait for them to retire it and rerelease it for coal if I could do that choice all over again.
