Kleber: Dont forget the Torpedoe angles. They are like 15 degrees off the front so you can literally rush a ship, point, shoot, and sink. Then just scoot away at 50+ knts. Its best ambush by far.

The thing with Elbing is that its actually a very strong ship if you play it in its intended role (i.e. sneak up on a flank and punnish unsuspecting broadside cruisers) BUT Its terrible at treaditional DD things like contesting caps, fighting enemy dds, repositioning etc..

That would be good but with so many ways to be spotted I don't see them doing that often. Also the game doesn't lend itself to that, it expects DD's to be pushing caps, spotting, and in general be brawling more often. Taking up a DD spot but acting as a light cruiser is a tough spot to be in.

i find elbing more usefull in caps than a grozo (this damn dd never stops when you need it lol), and 6,5km concealment is damn good for those great guns, how can you struggle to fight other dds with this ?

It's not a good ship specifically because of that. Cap contest is extremely important so losing a destroyer for it is not worth it.

Elbing is a dd that shouldn't be in a dd slot since it sucks at dd roles. 😕 capping and spotting is a primary job and when you can't do either well. Well it kind of defeats the purpose of having you as a dd. Literally everyone else on your team can pound on cruisers.

Gearing is still my go-to ship if i want to hardcarry, other ships may be better but the "jack of all trades" is nice to carry ranked, because you can influence every situation.

I see so many poorly played Gearings who die in gunboat fights with DD's or simply cannot use their torps. A well played Gearing is a scary thing to a cruiser or BB I've found, but most of the time I assume they will go die in the first 5 minutes at a cap or just be useless. Slowly grinding my way up the line so I'll have to give her a go myself and see how she plays.

Daring is the most balanced DD, fully agree, can deal with Kleber, Sherman, Ragnar comfortably as long as you choose the fight. Smalands will dumpster you once in a while though but thats just smaland stuff.

What about the amazing concealment with an absurd DPM (actually the 2nd best HE DPM of t10 dds behind Marceau) So you have that DPM with (if you build for it) a 6,1km concealment (if I'm right) and a 7,5km radar. Oh, and you have torps unlike some gunboats. And a heal. And a 30% speed bust. Yeah, barely an average DD. Lol.

Nice vid. I only have Halland and Marceau Tier 10. I think capability of AA on Halland is good, but in these days of Super CVS you can still struggle against them if they focus you alone, but fun to play. My biggest problem with the Marceau is I don't have a decent captain on it, and probably not playing it that well!! Currently on my way up Daring line - pretty fun and in certain situations the single launch torps can be deadly :)

Daring is fabulous, my most played DD in CB - single launch torps are perfect for dev striking bow on Ruskies. Shima is my goto DD in Ranked with the 8km torps - you Dev Strike ships extremely often and cap control is a breeze with RPF. Halland is my fav random ship because of the fabulous match with Jerzy, the AA makes planes go away, the torps suit the camping meta.

A few notes on Elbing. It's main battery can shoot out to 16 km with laser accuracy. Hitting cruisers or battleships at those ranges for 4-6k per salvo is normal. At closer ranges, it will citadel light cruisers reliably sometimes regardless of angle. You haven't lived until you have driven into a Smolenk's smoke and citadel him through the bow. It's torpedoes are interesting because while they share the specs of the Schlieffen torps with 13.5 KM range and 50 knot speed, they reload insanely quickly.

I would not shy away from the French DDs as a new player. They are so unique and so much fun, they have to be played asap even if they do not provide consistent results. The fun and uniqueness are too strong of arguments to not consider French DDs immediately.

The skill floor is low but the skill ceiling is high. French DDs aren't forgiving due to the lack of a heal if you catch yourself in a very bad spot.

Can't say I would recommend them at all for a new player who hasn't yet mastered the art of positioning. They're great in skilled hands and lots of fun but lack of smoke and heal makes them not very beginner friendly. In my experience Soviet and French dd's in the hands of newer players are often among the first to die as it's easy to get into trouble with that kind of speed and detectability.

One thing not mentioned about the gearing is that with the legendary upgrade it's detection becomes best in class equaled only by the Shima and I think the Neustrashimy at 5.6km.

Love the UK Dds - they're usually my favourites for ranked. A bit slow but that's all... My favourite though I think is Gearing - just good all round. Shima's good with torps (I play the 8km ones) - but that can be frustrating, Groz is a decent boat too.

I tried all of these ships out in the last KotS a few months ago. Nothing like having a training room that lets you set up all of the tier 10 ships with 21captains, and epic level equipment. So with all that being said, I'm in full agreement with everything you said, except about the Daring/Gearing parts... Mostly because I'm not a gunboat DD fan. I totally love Torpedo Boats. 🙂Ya.. All sneaky assassin creeping around launching torps, and scooting off, keeping people spotted for my team. On the other hand, my fav Cruiser is still the Radar Minotaur. lol Because I know people like to creep around in DD's lol (BladeCaptain/NA Server)

Yueyang also has radar to replace smoke. If your opponent DD uses its smoke, you now have smoke and radar. I don't think this raises its rank, but it balances its guns.

I main as a YY + legendary module + radar and I love to see her get some praise. Everybody sleeps on the LM because it ruins your concealment, but I like it due to it giving me a +20 second radar and gun on par with Gearing. It's quite competitive in modes like Brawls where most people bring BBs

I quite often forget Grozovoi exist and because of this i often forget the base stats of it when im up against it. It seems like a good ship but I suck at RU DDs, any tips for grinding that line?

The gearing was my first, i first started the line only to be able to do some missions with them at lower tiers because i was crap in dd, i only played bbs. But once i got up above tier 5-6 it started going a little beter, though it didnt start going great until like benson/fletcher. Now i got Shimakaze and on the way to daring, but think so far Gearing is by far the bes in my mind, i love how its a hybrid because if im just good at aiming its not too hard to gun down most other dds even stronger gun boat dds. Its just amazing i think.

Totally agree on the Halland. It's my most played tier ten ship for a reason. Torps are so much fun, especially with the special commander that boosts your reload once you hit 8 torps. And I've won gunfights even against Darings in it.

The T8 and T9 are oke, but Halland is where the line is the best for sure. The only bad thing is it doesn't actually cap contest very well. The torp angles are awefull, the acceleration is poor and it doesn't have smoke.

@@Swarm509 The Oster is a nice upgrade and then the Halland is another very nice upgrade. I agree the lower tier's were rough for me also. Almost dumped the line at skane. I kind of think of the line as area suppression boats. Lots of weak very fast torps and pretty good guns. Its a good boat I think you will enjoy it.

I loved the T7 to T9 Italian DDs more I think. The size and concealment on Regalo is just a little too bad, despite the amazing dpm. I like the ship, don't get me wrong, but I don't seem to play as well in her. Doesn't help that T10 gets more radars and really high DPM DDs either. And people camp more.

Just finished grinding up to the Halland. Torps, heal, AA are all great. Not having the smoke to fall back on really forces you to develop map awareness and learn not to overextend.

I am one of those strange ones that have found the Regolo to be quite prolific for me. I play it in competitive play and yield great results. I play it similar to a Kleber and the damage you can dish out on this is amazing. Nothing like giving payback to cruisers. Pros: -DMG -Speed -Instant smoke that moves with you -High HP -13.5km Torps Cons: -Turning is mediocre, but not the worst -Definitely the range -7.2 concealment -(MAYBE)slow torps. Honestly, not sure this is a con because you will be surprised at how often they hit.

I got Daring back when his HE pen was bad so you were forced to only use AP, but then WG slapped improved HE pen on it (like they did on Akizuki and her 100 mm guns).

It is hardly comparable to the IJN 100 mm with 30 mm pen though. The Daring HE pen is only 19 mm that is one of the worst HE pen on a destroyer.

But pre-HE pen rework Daring was busted, it had faster reload and more dpm along with those same AP shells. Only caveat back then is that you had to get IFHE to pen DD plating with HE. Still had no trouble setting fires and wrecking havoc. Now that old dpm only exists in Vampire II, the current Daring dpm has been reduced to somewhat like Gearing's level.

I exclusively play DDs. Daring was definitely my best investment, and Halland has been refreshing in Randoms. Plus, there's the Supership evolution to look forward to there.

Gearing is my first tier 10 DD. Took quite a while to grind. I love the 16.5km torps and of course strong American smoke. It’s guns do seam weaker than lower tier American DDs. Thanks for the review. Next ship…Daring

600 randoms in Elbing give me pause to agree with you on most of what you said. My point of contention is that her HE was recently buffed to the point where it's now a useful option in multiple situations. Kiting bow in BBs is one. Broadside DDs is another (to prevent overpens, which had been a major bugaboo for Elbing previously). It lacks the heal of Ragnar, but plays similarly in many situations. It's not the cap contester, but it has the torps, which, if used on reload, seem to always land one or two per game by accident. It's not as easy as some seem to think to hit while it kites away, happily using it's guns, the majority of which are rear facing. Sure, it's nearly suicidal to contest early caps in her, but it can do some good work backing up a friendly cap contesting DD. It will gradually sink BBs and certain cruisers, if given time and space, but can't deal very well in open water with a small contigent of accurate cruisers. The Venezia, along with Nevsky and sometimes Hindenburg must be avoided. At range, against opposing DDs that can sink her in a knife fight, the Elbing actually has good chances. I've taken out Smaland, Harugumo, etc, simply because no other DD (or any ship, really) has the ballistic accuracy, which is most valuable at range (up to 16km). Because of its flat shell arcs, it's more accurate even than Ragnar. No small thing. Nevertheless, I can't really quibble with C tier. Unlike some other C tier DDs, however, in its niche, there are no better options out there.

I love the Daring, but its a ship with quite a high skill ceiling due to its low speed, if you make a positioning mistake you get punished and its hard to escape.

I think all of these dds can be S tier if you can play with them. For example regollo is D for you, but for me its best performing DD by stats. Dont know why but I can play with that ship. With SAP and relode mode you get around 300k DPM. So if some DD is near to you, you can kill it in seconds. You also have moving smoke, 30k health, good speed, engine boost and usable torps for some light yolo on cruisers or low health BBs.

Having played almost all of these DD's (minus the Regolo, Gearing, Delny and Yueyang), the Halland is definitely an S-Tier ship. There's nothing Halland doesn't do well. The torpedo reload, spread and speed put this on par with the Shimakaze in my opinion. Shimmy torps do more damage, but the ability to select a narrower spread on the Halland, combined with its super-fast torpedoes make it very strong against the current Island Camp/Sniping meta. In CB's, the high reload of the torpedoes makes Halland great in a variety of roles from supporting the main push to contesting a cap. The guns are underrated, imo. The high rate of fire can surprise a lot of DD's and can make a lot of non-dedicated gunboats turn out and look elsewhere, especially when combined with the heal. They are also solid for farming a BB or bigger CV. I'll often come out with 20-30k damage from guns in randoms, and I am not looking to shoot except at targets of opportunity (ie, from someone else's smoke, if I get caught by an enemy DD or from behind a hill). The AA is strong. You can definitely force CV's (minus Super Sky Cancer and the FDR) to go look somewhere else. If you are the uptier against a T8 CV, you can absolutely bully their planes. If you're pushing with a Des Moines, Mino, or the Dutch Cruiser then you create a very nice No-Fly Zone for your BB. Lastly, Depth Charges. Halland doesn't drop depth charges off the back like other ships. It shoots them out of the front. This gives you a bit more range when you're closing in on subs and allows you to wiggle your nose and spray depth charges. Does take a bit of getting used to, but imo is better once you get the hang of it. So yeah, long post is long. But the baseline is that Halland is an excellent DD. I'd make the argument that it's the best DD in the game simply for its incredible versatility and ability to do just about anything. DD's are about versatility and being able to support your team in as many ways as possible and no DD does that better than Halland. I'd also agree that Daring is a close #2 for most of the same reasons. Daring has better guns, but the AA is noticeably less good. Torps are, well, I guess it depends. The ability to snail-train or spread Daring torps is really nice, but Halland's torps are the best imo due to their speed and difficulty detecting them.

I can vouch for the Gearing being decent and more importantly the grind up the line pretty fun as well as that was my first Tier 10 ship. It has just been power crept pretty badly to be almost not competitive anymore. It doesn't suck but it's not great. You used to see Japanese DD's turn and try to get away when you pop up in a gearing. Now most of the DD's you face are going to stick and take their chances since the Gearing isn't the great DD killer it used to be.

z-52 on B tier for sure, maybe not high B tier, but B tier nonetheless. It's a good ship, with AR your torps rld surprisingly fast, 6km detec range you can play it as a torp boat at the end of the match without much issues. The surprise hidro as well, if you hide behind an island and ambush other dds, can spot them behind islands as well and open an oportunity for your team to shot the enemy dd... I see it as a support DD most of the time, but since WoWs don't reward support as much as dmg, I can see why you drop it at C tier...

Ragnar/Smaland took over the Zs niche completely to the point there is literally zero reason to ever play the Z-52 if you are lucky enough to have the previous 2 ships. hell even the Black would be more useful than a Z-52 and that is a whole tier difference. It takes a special person to die to a Z-52 and an even more special kind of person to play it to begin with

@kr4ftt doesn't make the Z any better. Just because you follow this list doesn't mean everyone else in the game magically does. You still see a ton of Ragnars and Smalands. Most players playing this game are veterans. This game has almost no new player draw. This is a list comparing tech tree ships to each other, and most of the other ships have at least some niche for each of them that isn't stepped on by another. Gearing at least has team smokes. What does Z have? A 6km hydro that does nothing in a meta of radars, passive gameplay, subs, and carriers that don't give a shit?

Strong AA dds is my greatest joy. Sky goblins ruin anything you try to do by striking or just spotting in general. I love my cossack but, my lord, is it frustrating to get picked on by cvs since your aa is a joke. That's why I love the Kidd, best team based dd in game IMO. Full aa build and DFAA smart cvs tend to leave you alone, which coupled with team smoke, gives alot of freedom for you and your team to push areas, especially German bbs to help them get closer to a more brawl range. Good concealment too. I'm in oland right now and it's fun swatting cvs with full aa build. So I can't wait to get to halland.

Elbing is a powerfull DD, so it should be on A in my opinion... The issue is that yes, it is a difficult DD to get used to, but when you first get the hang of her, well... it's one of my fav. DD's in the game pared with Halland, Grozovoi, Shimma

Harugumo is simply my most played destroyer of tier 10. It has the most gun of any destroyer in the game with 10 fast firing guns, its torpedo power is also very strong despite it only has one launcher but it has 6 torps + torpedo reload booster with reduced cool down time. Ok ish concealment and firing range. It is a great gun boat for supporting your team but definitely not good when playing alone.

I love Harugumo for the fact that it can deal with 30mm plated cruisers quite easily by responding in kind with its guns. Something not much destroyers can do.

@@facenoise465 Yes and with IFHE which i'm using, you can penetrate any ship bow no problem. Most of my game with the Haru had 80-90% of the shells hit penetrated the targets i shot at.

In WowsL, Delny is one of the strongest destroyers in the game. Definitely my favorite ship after Kleber

The one major advantage delny has over kleber is the armor belt, but damn can it be funny. Watched an Annapolis burst first a delny at point blank range once, every shell perfectly aimed dead center... For like 200 damage for the one shell that hit higher. Delny just waddled right up and got to cosplay as yolo emilio. Annapolis was raging about it until we softly mentioned the armor belt on delny/khaba. But that belt can actually be useful in the dd fight, especially if the dd doesn't use AP because in that case 0 damage is better than klebers improved saturation. Kleber is still better overall, but delny has a gimmick that can be hilarious in the right situation (bouncing yammy shells as one)

@@treeherder42 Delny has 10km torps so slightly longer range which can be helpful with all the radar around. Delny also has better sustained dpm I believe if the reload booster is on cooldown on the Kebler which IMO makes it a better open water damage farmer.

A guns focused Z-52 is a beast though not everyone will understand why. It will always be said that when compared to the Z-52; there is always a destroyer with better DPM, better torpedoes, better concealment, better smoke consumable, better AP penetration, better shell ballistics, radar instead of 'useless' 6km hydro, and a whole host of features that they do better. What most don't realise is that while it does not excel in any particular category, it is not by any means limited either. In fact, it is arguably one of the most versatile destroyers in the game. However, the skill and knowledge required to bring out the full potential of Z-52 as a true jack of all trades is much higher than other hybrid gun/torpedo destroyers. It is necessary to have great aiming skill that is good enough to target and hit specific locations such as the bow, stern, superstructure or any armour plating section that can be penetrated using the HE or AP. It is necessary to understand how the AP arming threshold works in order to make full use of the high AP DPM. It is necessary to have vast knowledge of armour plating in order to know which locations on the ship should be targeted and the optimum angle that allows full penetration damage using the AP on DD 19mm plating. It is also necessary to have good awareness and positioning, so that it can counter other destroyers that might otherwise out gun, out torpedo or out run it. That is probably why it will not be highly regarded as a good destroyer because only a specific subset of skilled players actually knows how to use it to its fullest.

Wow nailed it, you must play DD's a lot more then Cruisers because you shit the bed on that one.haha. You have to grind the Harugumo line just for the Ak and the Kit but your right it is sluggish as hell but man it has those grate guns. Good job.

Haven't gotten to a tier 10 DD, but from tier 8 and up i just love the Swedish DD's. The only thing that I really really hate is that they all seems to be named after territories that Sweden stole from my country. I legends i play a lot of the British DDs and if I ever should grind a DD line. That would be it. I even got Cossack as Captain trainer.

Marceu is my favorite. Top speed around 60 knots, and can shoot 4 waves of torpedos in a few seconds. It also do decent damage with main guns. With Marceu you can sink G Kurfurst, Pommern etc. in seconds with torpedos only. Jaeger is useless for main guns and is mainly a torpedo ship. For some reason it's torpedos does less damage than the ones Marceu have which doesn't make sense since Jaeger have "no main guns". In fact Jaeger can barely even hurt the weakest DD's with it's peanuts.

You don't have to play Kleber full gun boat style. I play her as a mix with full conceal so she can become a F3* Shima on demand which is able to devstrike CL with AP, if they forget me. Maybe not your 1st DD, but for sure your 2nd or 3rd imo.

Overall I think this is a good list, but I think you underrate Elbing. It can get 5k salvoes against BBs EVERY 5 SECONDS. With consistency. It’s a DPM cruiser without a citadel.

I still have a huge problem with Halland and CVs. It's not the damage, it's the spotting. If you have to contest a cap, if you're forced to it, enemy DD can smoke up and destroy you while the CV just spots you. Even for a short time. If it's a Daring in front of you, it's a massive pain in the ass even having great AA Same with subs and how they spot you without being able to do nothing but run and take damage on the while.

I have the same problem. Halland does not like to be spotted and actually is D tier when it comes to cap contesting. Halland is best played as a flank ship where the enemy doesn't know where you are exactly and just keeps eating torps.

Well the Elbing is not played like a dd. Of course, if you're the only dd that kinda sucks, but you should still not play it like a dd and play like a CL. You're not the one who's spotting, you play on the flank or with smoke, and rack up a huge amount of AP damage, which is amazing given it can't really be healed. You can citadel certain BBs the AP is that good. Not to mention those torps are actually pretty good, they hit hard, have long range, they're pretty slow but fit your playstyle. Not to mention you have like idk, 18km range or something? You outrange many cruisers. It's really a great ship, I'd argue among the best CLs in the game, perhaps even better because you have no citadel.

Im playing the game for around a year and grinded out 2 dd lines so far, daring and shima. Winrate on jervis, lighting and jutland is good for a new player i think (54-60) but for some reason on daring im stuck at 48-50. I havent played that many games in daring so maybe i just got unlucky with games but idk. Shima line feels a bit weak to be fair. Akatsuki has dogshit coneal, kagero and yogumo have terrible torp reload and speed. I was able to get good winrate on kagero but yogumo barely felt like an improvment. I played very few games in shima so i cant really say much. As far as premium dds, i really suck at gronningen and sherman. For some reason i cant get good balance between sitting in smoke and farming and helping the team. Quite often im the one spotting the whole enemy team so all i can do is open water gunboating which usually doesnt end that well. I have a few great games, but i do feel like im very inconsistant wtih those ships. If theres a cv to spot or other dds, i can do well, if im the only dd at the flank, it usually sucks.

Elbing: You can fit her to be basically a "Destroyer-Slava" just peppering peepz with AP and AE at up to over 18km... Or around 16 with higher dpm... Slava because Elbing has bonus accuracy, super fast shells and tiny shell drag = LAZZZZOOOOORZZZZ! ;-) PS: Yes, the torps are slow, BUT have massive range and decent reload... So as you kite away and around islands, you just keep dropping those into the path of your pursuers... I found most good players wont even shoot at me, never mind chase me at those ranges... My first game was 80.000 damage shooting nothing but AP, so ZERO fire damage in that number... I later found out it's even better if you start a perma-fire where applicable and also from 16km HE should be better, because the AP hits the deck too steep to pen anymore...

Why the massive difference between Z and Daring? Z has boost so it can get to spots quicker, it has 6km hydro which can cover the entire cap (especially if you have an island) it also has fantastic AP, the HE damage is low, but it has 32mm pen, which lets it do consistent damage to most cruisers and a lot of bbs, which daring is limited to superstructre It's the best cap contesting DD. Z can also get down to 69s torp reload, they don't do much damage, but just like halland they reload very quickly. (though typically it will be higher because you build for guns) Daring does have better smokes, and a heal but it doesnt have the 6km hydro, it doesn't have the 32mm pen, and it ofcourse doesn't have speed boost. I really do not understand how you can put Halland and Daring in S tier.

Daring has a heal and British fast reloading smoke. So it almost always can pop a smoke and go dark allowing it to pick and choose when it wants to engage or disengage. Cv’s have a hard time farming a daring for this reason. It a daring angles against you, it will generally win in a gunfight unless it’s up against a dedicated gunboat such as Kleber or Kita. If a dd doesn’t give you broadside in your Z-44 you won’t trade well.

I think you have totally missed the boat on the Italian DD ands I am grateful for that because Italian DDs do not get played much and I find that to be beneficial as most players do not know how to deal with them. I am a markedly average player but have winning records in all Italian DDs. I have ground the line twice and think that there are no other DDs that are as fun to play. They are not high scorers but are ships that help your team win. The torps are not powerful but with a buff to the speed have great range and low detection rates. The guns can slap both CAs and DDs. Smoke generators are "very" powerful if you learn to use them properly. They can get you out of trouble and are great offensive weapons as well. Go for range on tier VIII and up but do not take range on lower tiers as they can disengage and go dark very fast. You don't use it all the time but the YOLO is there for you when the opportunity presents itself. A. Regolo has no business being at the bottom of this list.

I have grind to Shima and Halland. Currently I'm grind US-dd line may ad british at the same time. I have notice it's better grind up in tier slowly and do some other lines at the same time. I feel that you learn to play the game better that way.

Another problem with the Gearing and the Harugumo is that they're just so much worse than their tier 9 counterparts. Fletcher may not have great guns, but she's one of the best torpedo boats in the game because of the sheer volume of fish you can put in the water with her reload. And Kitakaze is... just the best at everything.

Z-52 is insane if played as torpedo boat. Twin salvo of torps with sub-minute reload and great torps invis feels just unfair... Yes, your torps are weaker, but you can launch them twice as fast in combat to RNG, and unlike pan-asians, you can do it without any consumables to worry about.

I play the YY as a radar with legmod meaning rate of fire is improved. My victims are usually dds in smoke so when I see dds like Halland, Kleber I have a problem. The longer I can survive the better in the hope of picking them off. For me your ratings are a bit off but appreciate this is only your opinion.

Attilio Regolo is a good ship. I will die on this hill. The SAP DPM is 20% higher than freaking Venezia's. The short range is annoying, but you can press the smoke key to turn invisible for 40 seconds, give me a break. It really takes names in ranked.
