Hi! Thanks for your video. I was recently gifted an 8-note tongue drum and it came with a music book. I was wondering if you could enlighten us on how to read the music sheet. Some are pretty obvious; but some have underlines and ties. What does it mean when the numbers have those symbols? I hope you can help. There’s nothing about this on the internet I could find

If you are talking about a slightly curved line the goes from one number to another, that means that those two numbers you hit one and the other right away after, because those two notes make one word in a song. Like in when the saints go marching in when you sing the part that goes in to be in the number , when you sing number you hit a 5 then a 4 right after and those two notes make the word number. That one of the hard part of playing a tongue drum is the timing of the notes. If you know the song you can sing out loud or just in your head which helps keep your timing, because most words are just one note, but when a two not work comes along that can throw a wrench it your timing because if you sing the word to one note in a two note word now your playing is off to the rest of the words in the song. Think of it as if you are playing the syllables of the word, and that line is giving you a heads up, that that one word is going to be played with two notes.

It's either Mark's above are sharp and marks below are flat. And it could also mean that is in the next octave. Unless that means the same thing I don't know music reading but I know drums and steel drums are my new obsession as of today and I have quite a few and know quite a bit for one day. Hope that helps. And I made it clear? In other words the big tongues are the ones with the marks below. The little tongues are the marks above. Corresponding numbers. Does that make sense? Or will you even come back to read this😅😂😮😊

whoa this is 500 NZ dollars? that's a lot! I thought most of the Chinese drums go for about $100-150 USD, it's like 2x or 3x in NZ :( I used to live in Australia and I also remember goods coming to Australia being a lot more than elsewhere ...

Regarding the use of different stickers for different octaves, that is confusing and distracting. It also is not aesthetic. It's just as easy to look at the size of the tongue. The bigger the tongue the lower the notes. The smaller the tongue the higher the note Play you are right the first time. It is an octave. Not a note. It is the same note, different octaves!
