Rode Iron Gwazi last week and I was not disappointed! I’m more easy going on ratings so I would call it a 10/10, but it was immediately apparent after the first ride that it’s not even logistically possible for it to be better than Steel Vengeance. It really comes down to whether the long banked hill under the lift on Gwazi is better than an entire second rollercoaster on Steel Vengeance.

I literally feel the exact same way 😅 Like yeah that element is killer and one of the best feelings ever, but I think I'll take an full minute+ of airtime and other funky elements! I gave Iron Gwazi a 9.75/10 which I feel is still really really good 😄

Not dissing IG here, as it is absolutely incredible and my #2 overall, but you have flawlessly done what I have been struggling to do: explain why Steel Vengeance is better than Iron Gwazi (IMO), not only comparing the elements by type, but also how they feel within the context of their respective ride. It's not just that SteVe is longer, but that it's longer while also keeping the same insanity as IG. When SteVe's speed is significantly less than IG, this is masked with punchier elements and traversing through the structure, which give an illusion of speed (even though it really isn't slouching, it hits the final break very quick, they technically could have added more with the kinetic energy still left). A brilliant, well-thought-out design that goes the extra mile, whereas IG, though amazing, doesn't have that extra "oomph" that SteVe does (the wave turn before the stall is the only instance of that on IG since it's not just a standard turn). Maybe I'm glowing too much about SteVe since last time I rode it was it's opening year, but that was my opinion when I rode IG for the first time this summer.

I’ve been on both dozens of times (live less that 4 miles from BG). I love Iron Gwazi but if a ride is great, length is too important to ignore. How’s that for an analysis?!
@OklahomaCoasterFan2 жыл бұрын
I keep going back & forth between the 2. In my experience, Iron Gwazi is the strongest roller coaster I've ever ridden. The trick track double up & that final big drop had to be pulling -2 Gs. Since you called that flojector, I'm guessing it wasn't riding as strong for you. Iron Gwazi is so strong, that it would be too much if it were a long ride. Meanwhile, Steel Vengeance is still very strong, but not too far, so that it's able to still be enjoyable throughout the very long ride. So do I want fewer elements that are over-the-top insane, or do I want more quantity at a slightly less insane level? It's a tough call. I give the edge to Steel Vengeance currently, but the 3-hour lines compared to Iron Gwazi's 5-minute lines (on school days) makes me wonder. I've heard the theory that the Iron Gwazi layout was designed back in 2016, around the same time as Steel Vengeance was being designed, which explains the similarities. SeaWorld had to delay starting the project until they were more financially stable in 2018-19. If they were more stable in 2016, Iron Gwazi probably would have opened in early 2018.
@M-NL22 жыл бұрын
Awesome review of both! I think I should have referred to that hill as sustained ejector instead because that's more accurate to what I experienced! Definitely super strong ejector that lasted a really long time!
@KubabHelped2 жыл бұрын
iron gwazi keeps its speed throughout the layout but who really cares if the layout is short as hell? i would much rather get some great ejector bunny hills before going back in the queue instead of hitting the breaks which happen to be wayyy to painful because you go into it with so much speed.

From what you've said that you have a greater feel for Iron Gwazi than Steel Vengeance no matter what coaster you like better. (I've never been to Florida yet but I'm waiting for the hurricanes to subside and for my bank account to get bigger, but I digress) I've ridden Steel Vengeance 10 times; All in late May 2018; all but two of those 10 on SV rides were in either row 11 or 12; the other two being in row 9 and row 7 each. SV is the only RMC I've ridden (out of a total of four; the other being Twisted Colossus, Jersey Devil and Goliath at Six Flags Great America) that I never got a chance to ride the front half of the SV's trains where the airtime is more intense, especially on the double up to the MCBR where I thought the restraints would cause me to loose my junk, which although not too shabby, isn't even that big. I don't mean my balls either, since they're out of range of the RMC restraints. If I ever ride SV in the front I'll make sure to personally tuck in my junk, especially since Cedar Point isn't responsible for lost junk, and I cannot put this junk in a locker. (that's why you can tuck everything into your shorts; at least art SFGA when riding El Toro) but I digress. The bunny hill following the drop of SV does nothing but put bums in seats from advertised statistics which you obviously fell for and I'm sorry you did. But SV is still the best coaster in the world. I'll defend Sv's MCBR; it's better to be on a roller coaster from drop to EBR than it is to be in line, and if it weren't for block breaks everyone would be spending MUCH more time in line than they do already. To be clear: I'm not a fan of SV's final bunny hills; I'm too old for that kinda stuff. (I was 48 when I rode it over four years ago) But As a whole: SV the best roller coaster I've ridden (with Behemoth, Millennium Force, and The Cyclone at Luna Beach and El Toro coming after) and I can see why you think Steel vengeance is better than Iron Gwazi. But since I've never ridden Iron Gwazi: the best question to ask is this: How does Iron Gwazi compare to Zadra, since they're a more fair comparison? My guess is that Zadra has the best elements per second and that even Iron Gwazi fans would have to admit that Zadra is better than Iron Gwazi. I guess you'd have to compare how Steel Vengeance compares to Zadra for your own opinion. To be objective: If one subtracts the MCBR and obnoxious bunny hills at the end of SV: SV is it's still a longer and more complete ride than Iron Gwazi. But not having ever ridden Iron Gwazi myself: I guess I'll never know. until I ride it, and when I do I'll probably prefer Velocicoaster. 😉Thanks for posting!

Idk why but when I went steel vengeance wasn’t strong. It wasn’t slow, I got 12 rides it was 90 degrees and rode in every row but the finale didn’t hit or this stall, got 0 air in the top hat and the airtime just wasn’t that strong. Gwazi was much faster was much stronger airtime so that’s why prefer but maybe it just wasn’t that good during my 3 day visit. I actually think vengeance has a better layout but all the elements just didn’t hit besides the roll, outer bank, wave then, and off axis hill.

I think the only way to beat steel Vengeance to make a steel Vengeance but make it longer and better. If iron gwazi was longer i think it would top it. It has a better drop and to me at least better flowing elements. But it lacks the airtime. At least for a 200 foot coaster. Its kinda sad that twisted cyclone gives similar amounts of airtime in a 100 foot tall layout than a coaster thats double the height

anything over 135 degrees is technically an inversion. The reason I feel gwazi is the better ride is the diversity in elements. If steel vengeance was like its first half the whole ride it would be better, but after the mid course you can tell it’s going for a record. Another thing about gwazi is the airtime is considerably stronger. Steel vengeance is a much longer ride, but only the first half is elite. I also personally think the death roll is better than the mosasaurus role.
