STEELDIVE SD1975 Tuna Diver Before You Buy

Bro, these watches are between $90-$130 depending on sales. It has a NH35 movement and a sapphire crystal. This watch is great. I have some $300 Seiko watches that are crap compared to this.

Yes I agree the nh35 on mine was defective But I ordered a new movement and swapped it out my self So I ended up paging $40 to get it working 😆

I own a genuine Seiko, it came with the crown not exactly in the middle of the shroud opening, the bezel did not line up precisely, and ran very slow out of the box. It cost like X3 plus as much and now has been serviced after 6 years of continuous operation. Whilst it too has a Japanese movement, albeit a 4R36 cf a NH35, it is more than probably cased/manufactured in China too. Clearly Steeldive can make good watches; I'm about to get one and I'll def put it under the microscope along with diving etc.

The thing with Seiko, in my mind, is that you're better off buying from a seller with a good return policy. That way, if you get one with QC issues, you can return it and try another seller :) But Steel Dive makes a similar watch with the same movements for less money. But Steel Dive cuts some corners; the watches are missing details. And like most Ali Express types of watches. It's always a gamble if you will get an amazing one or one that is broken from day one :D As long as you know what you're getting into, it is worth trying them :D Thanks for the comment! Yeah apparently now in it's way to me. Yes this is true what you say. I did purchase my Seiko from a reputable physical jewellery store but unfortunately never got a chance to return it within the warranty time despite the store being local LOL! Anyway we sahll see because any company capable of machining cases, forging etc. painting dials etc etc and then simply inserting a HH35 movement along with various O-rings, should be able to make a good watch IF they are careful in the processes. Whether that's China or not. The place i just bought mine from said that they tested it before sending it and my guess is that it was their way of saying some sort of "extra quality control" I din't know, we shall see and i will keep you posted. @@LosNTime

4R movements are made in Japan and the NH series are made in Malaysia

The painted indices are just the same as the 300m seiko tunas, although nice to have colour choices available that seiko never made. But maybe they should release a "mod" series with fancier dials and upgraded clasps and move beyond just homage to their own style. Picked up 3 steeldives for an insane price from their official ali store last year. All arrived in excellent condition, hands/bezel/chapter/dates aligned, lumed hands/face/bezels are amazing almost flashlight bright. All but one ran within a few seconds a day. The problem one lost 10+ minutes per hour, and in hindsight it was in the bottom of the box and either got knocked hard or more likely got magnetized in transit. Anyway, probably should have tried degauss first, but sent it back, and they returned it in perfect working order, +4s/d faceup; alternating crown up or face up at night, I can keep in within a couple seconds a week.

I'm happy you are digging them And that you were able to swap out the one that didn't run well I've never owned a tuna, which is probably one of the reasons I was so critical of the markers I'm not a fan of printed dials in general But to be fair, the fantastic part of Steel Dive is that they are ideally suited for modding So, if you don't like the dial, you can always find an Nh35 dial you want and swap it Anyway, thank you very much for taking the time to comment You rock!

I was lucky with SD1975, got 2-3s a day but was very unlucky with SD1970. The movement was working only under certain angles, I was told that it was a faulty balance axis or something like that. Had to send it back to China and pay for that. Fortunately Aliexpress gave me the money back (including shipping cost). I am glad I recorded a video of that problem, because obviously Steeldive seller was trying to convince me that everything is perfectly fine with the watch. When I uploaded the video to Aliexpress dispute, he changed his mind.

It‘s always a game of hit-or-miss with Aliexpress watches. I‘ve got the exact same model, and its movement is among the healthiest and most accurate of all my NH35s. I also don‘t quite get what your point is with the printed lume. Even luxury brands do the same. And Steeldive‘s printing is very precise too, much better than on a 400$ Seiko.

Mostly personal preference Printed dials, to me, feel like a cost-cutting measure I agree that Ali express is hit or miss. But even then, I ended up swapping the movement out for $35 So the overall watch was still a pretty good value

Hey man, You seem like a genuinely cool dude. I like your energy and presentation style. For me, you made a 90% awesome watch review. But those hashtag bleeps are UNBEARABLE and in my opinion will cost you views / new subscribers. The hashtags themselves are fine. But the bleeps? Hell no! But hey, your channel, your creativity etc. Just offering some feedback. I would definitely have subscribed otherwise. Life is too short and difficult enough already without adding unnecessary irritations when i just wanna chill and watch a fun youtube video. But like i said, the other 90%... great job! I did open the case back Steel dive does use genuine Seiko movements. This one just had a bad one I’ve replaced it since it cost my $40 did the swap myself Cheers!

The stem broke on mine after a few months. Steeldive/AliExpress refused to honour the Guarantee/warranty, insisting that I had to buy the replacement parts and get it repaired by a third party. Disappointed ☹️

Yes, to be honest, I think these watches are always a gamble If you like to work and build watches, you can usually make it work for a relatively small cost For example, I replaced the movement on mine for $35 But I could do the work myself I'm sorry you had this experience Did you get it fixed, or did you give up on it?

In all fairness, the Seiko tuna diver is 300-meter water resistance, and it’s iso certified :D The baby tuna is under $400 and is also iso certified I have not seen a real Tuna in person, and I’m having a hard time finding detailed macros But in my opinion, they look a little better done on the Seiko 😂

Good points Thanks for the feedback I stopped using the beeps as you suggested many videos ago; you were not the only one who didn't like it, so thanks for the feedback As far as the dial The reason I got this watch was too mod it To be honest, I never finished it, but I did swap the dial I also got around to swapping out the defective NH35, but I had to do it out of my own pocket That was my main complaint with this watch. I love Seiko. I have several of them King sunaruai and a sharp edge GMT blue dial are my favorites in my collection I love them with that said, the aliexpress watches definitely have a place in watch collecting But they are not for beginners For example, for the watch in this video, I replaced the movement with a new (USD 40) plus the dial and hands, and not it's great :) Even with all that, I'm still under $200 in total with a one-of-a-kind custom Cheers🍺
