you are so right, the weight of a watch is important and one of the things about titanium is that it is light and it does feel less quality and why I always seem to prefer steel to precious metals as the heavier weight just feels better to me. @@LosNTime I do, it's very wearable and handsome. Runs approx three seconds fast, the double AR coating makes the dial super legible, and the 100m water restistance makes this so much more versatile. Love the dual date apertures and the overall squarishness of the case. I've always been a fan of square watches, and originally wanted a B&R BR5 or a Jaeger Squadra. I'm glad I didn't - this puppy has scratched that itch and then some. Really hard-pressed to find any faults. I'm not the biggest fan of butterfly clasps, but this guy fits snug. I suppose I could've lived without the display case, considering this is (apart from the rotor) an undecorated movement. Either way, this watch punches way above its weight. I was on the fence until I saw your review. Thanks for diving in deep and help steer the audience in the right direction, and sorry for blabbering on. Enjoy yours!
@LosNTime4 күн бұрын
I could not have articulated it any better than you did. The butterfly clasp doesn't bother me aesthetically, but the watch was a bit tight on my wrist. as well, I believe the case size format is the real winner. Hopefully, Mido will release a COSC version of this watch someday so we can enjoy the more decorated movement. Having said that, I'm pleased that the powermatics being utilized for these new complications feature normal escapements rather than the cheaper ones with plastic escapements. Congratulations on your outstanding watch, brother. I am truly happy for you! 🍺🍔🍺🍔🍺🍔🍺🍔

lol ill be honest i came here to get another glance at the dragonfly blue on the CW and glad I did because I learned alot about GMTs too. With that said I'm still going to get the CW C63 GMT. All I really need is to to know UTC time at a glance for my office job. The more complicated true gmt is a cool horological achievement though. I wonder the cost of getting a true gmt serviced compared to a sellita sw330-2.
@LosNTime16 күн бұрын
That’s a great point! I probably sound a little biased, but in the end, my preference aside I’m happy that I could help make you feel stronger about your decision I think you will love the C63 As far as servicing, all these GMTs would get a movement swap; the cost of the movement is much cheaper than the hourly labor of dismantling and re-assembling a movement So, to be fair, all of these watches should be very similar as far as cost My guess would be in the ballpark of USD 300

I have a GMT ocean star GMT, had to sent to repair twice, first time with the crown which didn’t stay in, second time with the misaligned hour hand, everything under warranty though. The two tone is growing on me. For $900, that's pretty awesome. How does it stack up to a Mido or an Alpina around that price point?
@LosNTimeАй бұрын
In comparing the three watches, I would give a higher rating to the Certina over the Alpina due to its ISO rating and the presence of a well-lummed second hand. The clasp of the certina is also superior (same as the Mido). I prefer the styling and finishing of the Ocean Star, particularly the polished bevels on the case and the dual-finished hands. However, it's worth noting that the Mido is not ISO-rated. While style is subjective, when considering the specifications on paper for a three-hand date diver priced under $1000, I believe that Certina offers the better option. That being said, regarding vintage GMT catalogs, I find Mido to have the superior offering. 😆 I would add Alpina is an excellent watch with more original design than Certina, even if the watch is not as strong on paper

Funny how they made entry level tool watch to look flashy like two tone gold. I'd rather get Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogmen. At least the H10 movement in Hamilton does not have plastic like Powermatic 80. Also H10 movement accuracy is within COSC. But i guess that's why Hamilton branding is stronger than Certina even though they are both under Swatch Group.
@LosNTimeАй бұрын
Certainly! Here's a revised version of the text: It's important to note that both the Frogman and action diver movements are the same for both Certina and Hamilton. Neither are COSC certified, and they feature the same escapement, without any plastic parts. However, one advantage Certina has over Hamilton is that the action diver is ISO-certified, if that factor is important to you. While Hamilton has a strong brand presence in the US, its popularity diminishes significantly outside of North America. It's important to understand that entry-level Swatch brands all utilize the same resources and each focuses on different regions of the world market while sharing the profits with Swatch. In the end, Hamilton, Certina, Mido, and Tissot all offer the same quality and value. You can confidently choose any of these brands based on what resonates with you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I also have a fondness for Hamilton and am looking to review their Frogman diver. Cheers! 🍔🍺

Thank you for your question! The video's white balance is adjusted using a calibrated neutral gray card, which should ensure accurate colors. However, variations may occur due to differences in monitors/screens, causing colors to appear warmer or cooler. Mido, Tissot, Certina and Hamilton are the "Fab Four" of Swatch group. It is healthy to say that all of them have in-house movements, some use silicium other use nivarox hair Springs which is state of the industry like Rolex or Omega. They are supebly finished and the precision is in the range of Omega Metas and Rolex. I have all these brands and are my favorites. Also are though as nails. @LosNTime what movement have this watch? Is the powermatic 80 with plastic parts what certina and tissot uses?
@LosNTime2 ай бұрын
What an insightful question! Mido and Certina utilize the same GMT movement, which is currently exclusive to them. Both are based on C07.661, a higher grade power matic with a metal escapement. Tissot, on the other hand, is the only brand that uses the lower grade c07.1xxx with a plastique escapement, seen on the pox. Other Tissot watches, such as the gentleman, feature much higher grade powermatic. In the entry-level hierarchy of swatch brands, Mido and Rado reign at the top of the entry-level market, surpassing Tissot, Hamilton, and Certina, which is only outranked by Longines, positioned just below Omega. This means that Mido ensures the best parts and finishing at its price range. I hope this provides the information you were looking for!

I was going to pull the trigger on this one this week. I did not realize it had an aluminum bezel. That may be a deal killer for me. If the aluminum scratches, that will be the first thing I see every time l look at it. I have only had ceramic bezels on my last several watches. Did the bezel feel like it would scratch easily? I appreciate your input, other than that, it seems like the perfect watch.
@LosNTime2 ай бұрын
As soon as I strapped on this watch, I was completely captivated - the fact that the insert was aluminum didn't even cross my mind! I'm absolutely smitten with it! While ceramic is known for being more scratch-resistant than aluminum, aluminum is still incredibly durable. It ages over time, giving the bezel a unique patina, a characteristic that's highly sought after in vintage and vintage-style watches. If this appeals to you, then this watch will be a perfect fit. I wouldn't stress too much about scratches unless you lead a particularly rough-and-tumble lifestyle. Personally, I'd embrace the inevitable marks that life brings. However, if you prefer to keep all your watches looking brand new and aren't a fan of the aging process of aluminum, then ceramic might be more your speed. If possible, I'd recommend getting hands-on with the watch before making a decision. It's so stunning that the bezel material might not even register when you try it on! 😄

It's a beauty. That's for sure Does Gnomon have any protection against buyer's remorse? 😆

@@LosNTime good call and no they don’t. I did check specifically for that. They basically have a DOA return option. There is a dealer about an hour away; however, I would need to see if they have it in yet. The other one I was close on the Christopher ward Aquitaine GMT with the blue bezel. They check every box short of the true GMT one. I do have two other GMTs currently I do wish they had the traveler option.

I'm okay with a caller/office GMT, but I wouldn't want to shell out more than $500 for one. If you plan to spend over $500, I recommend going for a True/Travel GMT. In my opinion, that's the best way to make the most of your money. Also, if you get the shark tooth, I'd love to hear your thoughts once you've got it! 🍺🍔 What iare the GMTs currently in your collection?
