It’s nothing short of remarkable that Pickett is assigned QB1 on the depth chart. Tomlin is misjudging the situation. Consider the following. Pickett’s statistics are, perhaps, historically the worst. Per Joe Starkey, see the link below, Pickett “has 13 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and a 78.8 passer rating over 25 games. That rating would have ranked him 41st in the NFL this season, which wouldn’t even be that good in a 98-team league, let alone a 32-team one.” Like many others, I’ve had enough of the Pickett experiment. It’s a futile exercise. And I knew it would be before he was drafted. When he came out of college, I gathered that Pickett wasn’t a first round pick because of a substandard arm attenuated by small hands. They measure 1/2 an inch below the minimum standard of 9, and the balll is bigger. Which means weaker grip, and in turn, makes it more difficult to put velocity. No coaching, nor film study, can fix that. And my concerns about his physical metrics is precisely why we see errant passes; hesitancy to throw the ball deep down the field in tight windows. I say cut bait or bench him. He’s a back up at best. Go with Rudolph instead. He has a glowing endorsement from the players. Tomlin should listen to them. If he doesn’t, I guarantee you that George Pickens will lead a locker room revolt at some point next season. Also. there is no need for a camp competition. WTF for??? Mason outplayed Pickett in preseason camp last year; and in a 4 game stretch this past season, he outplayed Pickett again under real fire. There is nothing left here to evaluate. Imagine had the Niners played that stupid Tomlin like nonsense this year after it was obvious Purdy was the guy, even if it came unexpected. I personally always thought Rudolph had tons of petentiol but if others didn't including the coaching staff, they know now. I agree with everything you said Daniel. I think Tomlin was very positive with respect to Mason. He flat out praised his play and said he and the franchise want him back. I personally don't think Tomlin would put a lot of stock in any pre-season "competition", especially after seeing KP with a perfect passer rating in the preseason fall flat on his face once the regular season started. No, Mason proved it four weeks in a row with real bullets flying. He has the backing of the entire team, not just the players you mentioned. I think Tomlin has already made his decision and Mason will be the starter in '24. Now let's get him signed and get him a kick-ass OC!

I really think they only stated Kenny as QB1 because he’s the the only QB still signed to the team… besides Mitch, but that’s self explanatory. Mason should and will be the QB1 next year, i trust Omar Khan! And i believe Najee’s comments were about the players self discipline, but i could be wrong. But regardless, please do whatever you can to bring him back! Kenny is not a QB1

I really hope we keep him on the roster. A few things that impressed me about his game is how quickly he makes the right decision with where to go with the ball. Kenny would wait until the checkdown's value was nonexistent or a net loss or would get the TE or RB murdered. The other thing Mason has done several times is considering his throwing lanes to get the ball where it needed to go. He's thrown some strikes through really tight windows, tight from the trenches all the way through to the secondary. Perhaps Kenny could eventually learn these things watching from the sidelines, oh wait lmao.

Exactly!! Kenny’s numbers are horrible.. He seems scared to throw the long ball.. and he acts scared in the pocket!! Mason been sitting 6 dang in years, learning and patiently waiting.. He’s 6’5 like Ben was strong arm like Ben yet I believe will be more accurate , not scared to stand in the pocket, and definitely can throw the long ball!! Give the kid those reps at the starter position so he can polish and hone those skills Mike!!! He is our best shot without breaking the bank!! Mason looks like a Bonafide QB1. His pocket presence, his poise, his QB IQ is improved, his decision making and his medium and deep ball accuracy is at a high level. Resign Mason 3 year Deal 40 Mil at 13 MIL per year. Let him and KP8 battle it out in Training Camp. But as of Today, Mason is my QB1. Give Mason an Offseason and training camp with the Talent on this Team and a full Season and then let's see how he performs in the playoffs with the upgrade on the OL. Cut Trubisky (3 Mil), Peterson (7 Mil), Cole (5 Mil), Chuks (9Mil) and Robinsons (10Mil)! That's 33 Mil. Do not Resign Levi Wallace. Resign Kwon Alexander! Pick up Najee 5th year option. Draft Center is the first Priority. Draft DT Second Priority, Draft CB and ILB are the 3rd and 4th priorities. You Restructure CAM! And Add Qualities Veterans through Free Agency. Remember Mason Re-signed with the Steelers last off season. If he wanted to leave he could have.

I’m nervous about the Cam Heyward situation… i can’t imagine this team without him, his leadership, his run stopping, etc. but that $22mil as well as all the injuries this year could cripple the team if it’s another repeat. Cam is a Steeler and still has something to offer, i really hope they can renegotiate, i’d like to see him stay, but not at that price tag. Very tough decisions ahead

What I learned is that Pickens was pissed about Pickett’s inability to get him the ball down the field. No. 8 is incapable of using Pickens like he should be used. Basically, when Pickett was playing, Pickens is a Ferrari stuck in a garage. But with Mason, we saw what the Ferrari looks like when you can drive him: i.e., a Beast.

No team goes out ,and brings in a FA, and draft a player at the same position in the 1st round...pays them 1st round money, and then start the player they already had, and for every outliers people want to bring up....I can bring up 10 examples for every outliers brought up to prove my point. I doubt Mason is coming back. He would be dumb to do so. Tomlin told him with his actions of putting him on the bench for four years what he thought of him. They signed another QB and drafted one. They benched him for Duck Hodges..lol. The fans? Have been toxic to him, just like they are now with Kenny. The steelers have some of the worst "fans" in sports. No patience and want miracles and demand their QB's play like a top five number 1 draft pick immediately when they do not draft that high to get such a guy. My only criticism on Kenny Pickett is that he isn't ready to be QB1 yet and could use the 2024 year sitting behind someone even if it is Mason Rudolph. My stance is Mason Rudolph should be QB1 in 2024 while Kenny Pickett learns more in 2024. Let the two compete in 2025 with a young QB from the 2024 draft unless you sign a short term backup and draft a QB in 2026. Basically put Rudolph who has proven himself to start this upcoming season while still seeing if Pickett's potential can be turned into actual performance for 2025 onward.

@@kjahmbanso Prepare to be disappointed because there are far more holes on the Steelers team than just QB. It is enough to where the current number of draft picks won't cover them. Depending on how the draft goes Free Agency might not be able to help either. Couple this with people wanting the Steelers to use high value picks for a QB in Free Agency that may not work out. There is a higher risk that bad decision making moving forward could turn the 10-7 Steelers into a 3-14 team.

Ask yourself this question if mason leaves and Lenny Pickett is the starter of the season that means he has to earn the locker room like mason has it. Room back next year and the receivers trust because remember he was missing throws wide open receivers plus he has to get them back to the playoffs and win. In the schedule isn’t gonna be easy either unless that defense is lights out so you believe he will get that trust in him back or will he just be a game manager like last year and lose more then he wins or gets hurt? Realistically, if you're a team looking at a potential starter, Mason Rudolph had a pretty good game against an absolute bottom-level Cincinnati defense, (with a good run game helping him), a near-bottom level Seattle defense, (again with a good run game), and a Ravens defense with nothing to gain by winning and key starters sitting out. He then got in the playoff game, threw a couple of stinkers, threw an interception in the endzone, and then kind of improved later in the game. I'm in no way saying the loss was his fault, but he didn't exactly have some spectacular game.

@@420247Music You’re just repeating what you’ve heard. The deep ball threat helped the run game. Everyone knows that concept. But that wasn’t even close to the entire story. Better blocking schemes and piss poor defenses ranked at the bottom of the NFL helped the pass and the run game. I can’t help it there has been this ridiculous Mason Rudolph fanboy nonsense that makes it so if you’re just reasonable and don’t have a crush on him they think you’re against him. We’ll see if he’s impressed any other teams (like he hasn’t so far) and what his market value is.
