So in just a few short months you lose your franchise QB to retirement and one of your backup QB’s to a tragedy. Drafting a QB with your first pick only makes logical sense. Also in that dead zone between Bradshaw’s retirement and the arrival of Big Ben the Steelers didn’t draft any QB’s in the first round and we all see how that turned out.
@tannerwade1892 жыл бұрын

Pickett is ready to play now, but his ceiling is like a Kirk Cousins or Andy Dalton type of QB in the NFL. He is basically another Mitch Trubisky Steelers were better off going with Trubisky for the year and using the pick to fill other holes like OL, WR, SS, CB. Maybe even MLB since Bush has been bad, and than if Trubisky doesn't work out draft a QB next year in a better class. Steelers folded and made an emotional pick for the "hometown kid". And when he becomes a bust, you guys will blame Tomlin somehow and say its Tomlin's fault. 🤷♂

Fact check here- Malik Willis had a worse year in 2021 than he did in 2020. You’re telling me he couldn’t beat out Bo Nix at Auburn? Bo Nix..? Yeah cause he really lit it up and where is he now? Malik Regressed in 2021 against lesser competition. Willis should’ve been able to dominate his level of competition. Willis has elite traits no doubt and if the titans are willing to be patient and have the perfect development plan for him then he could be pretty special but saying Picketts Ceiling is low because his floor is high doesn’t make any sense to me. So he’s the most pro read becaus he ran an NFL offense by a former NFL coach, has NFL ball placement and accuracy, athleticism, great size, NFL level anticipatory throwing, one of the best college QBs against the blitz and in the red zone. All of those things is what make a great NFL QB great, so he’s head and shoulders above every other QB in this class at doing those things but somehow he’s not going to get any better at those things and become a smarter and better decision maker with One of the winningest and most stable franchises in the NFL? Have you seen how loaded the Steelers offense is now? Najee, Freiermuth, Johnson, Claypool, Pickens, Calvin Austin and Connor Heyward. That’s one of the most talented offenses in the league yall. Oh yeah they also play pretty great defense in Pittsburgh not sure if you’ve heard. Tuitt and Alualu are back this year, they added Myles Jack and got one of the biggest steals of the draft in Demarvin Leal in the 3rd. They have 5 all pro or pro bowl level guys just on defense. Meanwhile the Ravens for some reason traded their star Wr and didn’t use one out of a dozen draft picks they had to replace him. They also lost Watkins and Bateman sure didn’t look anywhere near a #1wr last year. Ojabo won’t play this year and had the worst injury a athlete can have where many guys don’t come back even close to the same, Linderbaum is a great player but TERRIBLE scheme fit. He played wide zone schemes at Iowa and he’s an undersized, Trex arm center now playing in man power/gap scheme. The bengals drafted every DB they possibly could get and the Browns forgot they don’t have another WR not named Amari Cooper. So I’m supposed to believe the Browns and Watson are going to light it up this year despite the fact that Watson is going to get suspended at least 6 games and by that time hasn’t played a single down of football in a year and half. Yeah there’s gunna be a lot of rust to shake off. The Bengals will still be good can’t even front about that.

I'm not even mad at the Pickett pick since I actual wanted him before free agency. I'm mad that with all the trades going on that they didn't trade down and that signing Trubisky makes no sense now. They still could've gotten Pickett cuz no team after 20 needed a QB.

Mitch was always an insurance policy. If they get their guy he’s a top tier-ish backup. If they don’t get their guy he is a starter for at least a year and can “develop” their future (not that they’ve ever developed any QBs ever). If they don’t get either they could draft a guy next year with a serviceable QB upgrade from Rudolph for only $7 million!
@pussydestroyer872 жыл бұрын
The Mitch signing still makes sense. It's a cheap deal and they don't have to start Pickett. I'm ok with the pick because the overall talent of this draft. There aren't 20 true first round talents in this draft. There are a lot of mid round talents. Picks 2 and 3 will be similar to the talent that was there at 20.
@twelvestitches9842 жыл бұрын
Colbert always tries to fill open roster spots before the draft so he doesn't have to scramble to fill a bunch of needs, he can go with the best player available. Also, signing Trubisky told other teams that we didn't have to use a 1st round pick on a QB.
