Lloyd doesn`t pull the first string with his middle finger. He has shown me, he is a fret above the key playing in then waves the bar on the first string. Example Joe Box Charlie.

Aaron, Remember to tell your friends that Lloyd only uses 3 and 4..........He has created all these great sounds with his 3 and 4.......Smart man and that's why they called him MR. Nashville............

He mainly uses only 3 and 3. You'll notice that he has a ist string knee lever, but doesn't use it.

Surprising how many instructors use the Day setup on thier guitars.

Geoff, I am using the Emmons setup with my first pedal being the 0 pedal (Franklin pedal). Both setups have pros and cons, though; I guess it just depends on what you started with. Keep picking!

Very few use it. I know this because when I was doing research for my book, "The Evolution of the Pedal Steel Guitar", I called most of the PSG manufacturers and asked them what was the ratio between BE and JD tunings, when they sell their guitars. Every one said about the same thing, (paraphrasing) "most overwhelmingly ask for the BE tuning. And if they don't ask, we always out send the BE tuning". For what it's worth.

That's one way to do it, but Lloyd uses the bar to get that 1st string lick.

NO disrespect. But I wonder why Lloyd raised the first string a half tone with a knee lever, then used his left finger to do the same thing? Also, he often slanted the bar to catch that half tone on the first string to do the same thing. I have seen him do it many times. Strange. Again, NO disrespect.
