The reason the volume slider on the side of the headphone is infinite, is bc you can use it to adjust things such as eq and settings on the dac. So it wouldn’t have a full range of motion if it wasn’t limited. You can activate that feature by pressing in the volume wheel a few times and scrolling.

For those who play Warzone, the Arctis Nova Pros are 100% better than the Astro A50s. I had the A50s for the last 1.5 years and just recently made the switch. The Astros can be an amazing-sounding headset when it works. WHEN IT WORKS. Constant firmware issues (out-of-the-box) where it would disconnect or not charge, even AFTER replacing the entire docking station. The headband also started to randomly warp to a point where it was extremely uncomfortable to wear. I just dealt with the issues for so long because I thought "it was the best". Little did I know. Been rockin the Artcis pros for a month now - no issues and I can hear footsteps 1000% better than the Astros. Never going back.

I have had the original Arctis Pro Wireless headset for about 5 years now. I have had a few QC issues with them, and the fact that in the US they only have a 1 year warranty is very frustrating. The first issue happened in about 10 months, the right speaker stopped working, all good, they replaced it, but the replacement process was a pain. You send in your headset and they inspect it, then if they find it to be a manufacturing defect they will give you a voucher to order a new headset. I was like cool, I thought that since I was ordering a new headset the 1 year warranty would renew, not the case. The second set was good for about 5 months, then the right speaker detached at the hinge. I went to have it replaced and they claimed that it wasn't in warranty, but after speaking with one of their higher level reps, I got them to replace it. I have had that one for 3 or so years now. I just noticed the other day that the right speaker chassis has a crack near the hinge part. Even though I have had major concerns with their quality control at steel series, I find their sound quality and their software, along with the ability to use BT and 2.4 at the same time, while also having batteries that you can charge separately and swap out to put them far past any competition within the pricing segment.
@CrackHdElmo Жыл бұрын
See that's crazy they put you through that! The experience was much more pleasant for me. But it was just the hinge issue, same as you had. This was on my Arctis 9 though. But they still use the same cheap ass assembly on my newer Nova 9. But i'm with you on the features and quality. They sold me on hot swapping batteries lmao. Oh and I'm actually going through a rough warranty claim with Razer at the moment, with a defective mouse which I literally just bought two weeks ago. Razer is putting me through hell, so much so that I'm seriously thinking about never purchasing another one of their products. So my point is, they are all pricks lol

heads up dude, you can add an additional 5 bands on the eq, just click on the line/bar and adjust to how you please. gadgetrytech has a beautiful all round eq for these and i find them fantastic, some people with sensitive hearing to the letter "s" sound might find it helpful to drop the second last dot to 1db so it doesn't pierce your ears but overall its a great eq and should be added to the list by steelseries as it's proven and tested. i use it and have only adjusted the bass and treble bars to what suits me and find it great for both gaming (fps and car sims etc) and music and movies. graph definitely looks a bit weird but it works fantastic.

So much wrong in this review. FYI it works on the switch as a usb headset. I have mine with 2 usb on ps5 and switch and 3.5 Jack on tv. Also that cable that comes included is not a headphone Jack. It’s a mic cable. You need to buy a 3.5 cable Also the earcups are swappable. I don’t know how you call yourself a reviewer and not even mentioned the biggest complaint by far from people. The mics in the earcups will hurt your ears after using for a couple hours. I don’t get your comment about the volume wheel. If it’s too loud just drop it if it’s not loud enough just go the other way. Easy.

I just bought these. Ear cup are 100% replaceable and easy to remove and put back on. No fussing with trying to shove fabric back into tiny slits around the drivers. It’s a plastic piece that snaps right off/on akin to the AirPods Max. Also, don’t know what’s up with your skin. Use some lotion, ashy boy. Just tested mine out, rubbing my hands and finger all over the cups for a minute and nothing happened. The cons I’ve noticed since purchasing the headset; One change I’d like to see is the placement of some of the buttons. The official Xbox headset is an amazing example. The entire ear cup being a volume dial and press able button make it infinitely easier to find buttons and change volume on the fly. Also, while using ANC and listening to game audio using the 2.4ghz on Xbox, if I turn on Bluetooth I get a slight crackling out of the right ear cup. It gets drowned out by music, video/game audio, but if you pause anything it is very noticeable. Turning Bluetooth off or turning the ANC off stops the crackling. (Edit: oh shit, I paused the video to type this and as soon as I continued the video you mentioned this problem) Would also like a Sonar app for either the Xbox or iOS AppStore. Where you can take advantage of the feature in GG without being stuck on PC to access those features. Lastly, of course it’s the little nobs inside the ear cups responsible for the ANC. for me it’s not TOO bad, but after a while I definitely get a little painful pressure point that I notice when taking them off. A current solution is buying the mesh cups. They’re a little bigger and those few millimeters help get your ear away from the nobs. Problem with that is then the ANC suffers a bit vs the leatherette cups.

The biggest problem I find with this headset is the fact that the biggest part of the headset itself which is the programming is completely unusable on console. It would be great if I was gaming on console and pc but at the end of the day I just game on my ps5 so therefore the gg application is completely useless for me so I wouldn’t be able to change any eq settings on the headset for console gaming. It seems like out of the box the headset isn’t on par with other top tier headsets out there from the extensive research I have done.
@Alihussein88 ай бұрын
So if I change the EQ settings on a pc and use the headset on a ps5, the new settings don’t transfer over? Kinda like the steel series arctic 7P. I would make my adjustments on my pc and they would save into the headset and I’d be able to use them on my ps5
@tdub77 Жыл бұрын
very nice, have you ever used your xm4's with surround sound on pc?
@MeticulousTechTV Жыл бұрын
I’m actually watching this review with plans to replace my XM4s that I’ve used on PC for about a year. While they sound amazing, they only work over Bluetooth with no AptX support, meaning they add a solid 75-150ms of latency to the audio. Bluetooth also means you can’t really use the microphone without killing the sound quality, so you really need a dedicated mic. Might be fine for single player stuff, but I mostly play Apex and Warzone 2. As a result I’ve been running them wired for most of the time I’ve owned them, completely defeating the reason I bought them in the first place. There’s also no noise cancellation when using 3.5mm. But the biggest reason I’m looking to replace them is it just seems even with HRTF software, directional audio is atrocious with my XM4s (have both Dolby and DTS). I broke out an old pair of SteelSeries Arctis 7s and felt like I was hearing footstep direction way more accurately. Also, having to keep a loose USB C cable cluttering my desk to occasionally charge them just bothered me, which this Arctis headset seems to solve. In short, the XM4s are AMAZING for movies and music, or even single player games, but they’re absolutely not gaming headphones, just not the audience Sony was targeting with them. If you play things where latency matters, go with something that has a dedicated 2.4ghz dongle.

You can add bands as you want in sonar EQ, don't know if there is an upper limit, also if the scrollwheel wasn't infinite, you wouldn't be able to control the dock from your headset, or change volume on you headset with the dock, plus it's easier to find the scrollwheel instead of having to pick out which of the buttons are power, mic, volume or bluetooth.

I just received my first Steelseries produtc, a Nova Pro Wireless Xbox and set up everything, except my desktop speakers: if I connect it to the line-out 3.5mm connector on the back of the transmitter, when I turn the headset off, the audio goes thru and my speaker sound, but I haven´t any volume control as the volume knob on the station doesn't do anything. If I plug the desktop speakers to my PC line-out as I always have done, I can set GG/Sonar to fallback to the integrated audio, but, as GG requires the Sonar Gaming device as default windows audio out device, again, I can't control the volume as any keyboard shortcut or dedicated volume knob will control the Gaming device on GG mixer and not my integrated sound output as it wasn't selected on windows taskbar. My desktop speakers are a pair of high quality wooden monitor speakers with back volume controls so, to set up a desired volume, I have to move the speakers to reach the volume knob on the back in the way that just control it using windows shortcut or the Nova transmistter will the the most practical way to to it... Someone know how to figure it?

The one thing that KILLED the actris pro for me was the ease of being able to instantly "rock" between voice chat and game sound instantly.... and on the wireless pro is was on the left ear cup. So in any FPS game, you had to let go of your LEFT hand and stand stationary to adjust volume. (this sucks if you wanting to momentarily crank the volume to hear footsteps or hear your buddies when you jump into a car as an example) Absolute deal breaker after coming from the Astro. I want to like these but it looks like the controls are on the left again?.... I also like optical audio on the astro as I can run both the headphones and speakers simultaneously, and not constantly muck around with audio settings.. The arctis wireless pro was HORRIFICLY uncomfortable and i ended up returning them, yeah my head is largish but even fully adjusted the metal with elastic band hurt you head after an hour. Ive read people complaing about the ANC mic pressing on your ear on the inside of the cup here... I love the swappable battery, USB C etc.. but ahhhh

If I could replace the earcups, I would, but since I don't think I can(apparently this is a long running theme). I won't lie, with the default ones and being unvented, the earcups... well I wouldn't want anyone else to wear my headphones now, it is kinda gross. If you have a PlayStation and it is your main platform i suggest the PlayStation version as the XBOX version will not be 100% compatible with the PlayStation, it is still usable but from my experience you don't have access to the settings with the base station

Do you need the headset software to work the headset or does it work without it? Thinking about getting the headset, but I don't have a great PC that I think could get the software and constantly update the headset.

Coming from someone who got these with a very big discount (E.D.) these completely suck for me. They are not comfortable at all, the clamping force is way too much and I got a headache within 5 minutes of putting them on. And the sound quality is awful compared to my $70 Razer Kraken TE's from 4 years ago that are falling apart. Really thought I was getting something amazing with these but I was let down greatly.

it is tbh most pro gamers play with a regular ass headset. it’s a nice option to have but never necessary to play at a high level

I don't think some of your main criticisms are justified. It's not just a volume wheel. It's a control wheel so you would screw up functionality by having limited rotation. What if I increase my volume to max. Then I notice that my chat mixer is only at 50% and I want to max that out too. I would need to continue turning in the same direction. And aftermarket earpads have been out for 30 bucks on amazon 3 months prior to this video. Also the earpads aren't using breathable material because ANC gets worse and worse the more you break the seal. If you REALLY want ventilation, it's best to get hybrid earpads that still have pleather on the outside as a middle ground. And you don't need to see the mute button if it's 2 stage tactile.

the only thing i dont like about these is the fact you dont have two scroll wheels as such as one for game/party chat volume and general audio and the infinite spinning audio wheel

I don't think you can use the steelseries gg software with an additional software like sonic sound. you have to select the sonar audio device in windows settings to use the gg software and that does not allow any additional spatial sound software. The setting is greyed out and unavailable. At least for me.
