I love how he just totally nails the Peg solo as if it's nothing at all, and then transitions into Rikki, and the audience just goes, "wow what did we just hear??" and gave him a hand...yes it's very deserving. He makes soloing on "Peg" look like anyone can do it.

Hank Easton is a genius. I keep coming back to this performance. The Ibanez sounds incredible; I think it's all-hollow hence the controlled feedback and fast sustain he is able to command. I would dearly enjoy seeing Easton live.

Love how you nailed that legendary Jay Graydon solo on "Peg" at 2:53. There are Steely Dan concert videos where Jon Herington doesn't come remotely close to the original sound.
@GuiitarBilly3 жыл бұрын
With much respect to Hank and my fellow Danfan Andy, pretty sure Jon H could play Jay’s original note for note if he wanted to. I like what Jon does with all the signature solos he covers in every SD show, some note for note things, plenty of tipping the hat to the recording, and some tasteful reimaginings. I’ve read that Donald Fagen & Walter Becker don’t/didn’t give SD touring soloists a lot of direction, but implied that they don’t want note for note solo re-creations. It’s a fine line to walk because we fans Do want solos that hit the most memorable parts from the original recordings. For me, Jon walks that line well, always musically & tastefully. For an example of an(other) jazz rock guitarist who didn’t bother with ‘the line’ /signature parts & riffs much, just blew through many solos playing his mostly own licks ...check out Georg Wadenious on Steely Dan’s ‘Alive In America’ release from the mid 1990s, documenting the first 3 or so tours after SD reformed in 1993. Georg is a certainly a masterful player. I prefer Jon and Drew Zingg ..who keep the recorded solos more in mind. Imho. ---- Hank does a great job of nailing things note for note in this video. Wonderful player & nice SD-approved guitar tones. RIP Walter Becker.
@andyinoregon3 жыл бұрын
@@GuiitarBilly Totally agree that Jon Herington could play any any Steely Dan guitar solo note for note, if he chose to. What I meant to say is that Jay Graydon's solo on "Peg" is one of the few that I don't want messed with.

Hi, Actually, I play with a group called "The Steely Damned" out of San Diego, so I knew all the solos and they're fun to play. So I thought why not put them in a medley to do with my group for the Danheads that come to see us.
