I remember it too...we had a Ford LTD STATIOWAGON with so many seats. Our cars were always just transportation..no frills...AM Radio...no AC ...we didn't have enough people to use the backward facing limited bench seat..but it did have a big block 460...it could fly!!!

I hadn't realized that so many of Steely Dan's songs, many of which are now staples on oldies stations, never cracked the Top 10. I suppose you could call them "sleeper hits" that gained greater popularity with the passage of time.

That's true. Maybe it depended on region? I'm in the upper region of New York state and even back on AM radio (when the singles first came out) days, these were all BIG radio hits.

I was 9 years old when that song came out on my AM Panasonic Panapet 70 ball & chain light blue ball that I had back then. Also I heard that song driving to Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, MI (with my older brother) for elementary social studies in the Summer of 1974!! (either on formers 1250 AM WKNX in Frankenmuth, MI OR "The Big 6" 600 AM WTAC in Flint, MI)!!

While Jeff Porcaro played on a lot of Steely Dan tracks, he was almost completely absent from the Pretzel Logic album. He was the drummer on only one track and performed additional drums on another. He did not play on this track, unfortunately. But, yeah, when it comes to Jeff Porcaro, always a huge 👍.
