The great Lionel Richie and company from the album The Commodores released in 1977. They sure don't make music like this anymore!

Growing up a little white boy from a small town in the 1970s I used to watch Soul Train every Saturday at 1 p.m. Faithfully and I knew when I grow up I wanted to be a black musician and play in a funk band!!!!!!

I miss those days, too. It's one of many reasons why I'm always coming here to watch this video, and 'September' by Earth Wind & Fire. They look like they're having the best time. If those two songs don't have you dancin' on your feet or in your seat, you need to check to see if you still have a pulse.

@@shadowsgathered6878 Not long ago, I was at my Dr's office & was asked for my birth date. Another guy said, "Your birthday is close to my son's. He was born on 9/21." For Funk Sake, we need more of this music, it's simply brilliant. The story goes that while the Commodores were in Studio, something went wrong, and while they were waiting for the techos to fix the problem, Ron la Pread started goofing around with a bass riff, and the rest is history.

Music is, and has ALWAYS been integral to the human experience. And good music has been made along side of weak music . Let each piece and each musician prosper or fail on their own merit. Such broad condemnations as yours serve only to alienate people from the joy and power that music wields to uplift the human soul. Peace.

Check out Vulfpeck. Their stuff with Antwan especially. Songs like 1612 or Funky Duck are straight up just silly, but the funk is so thick you could age it for a few years and serve it with apple slices and a fine wine. Not a huge fan of their other vocalists, but the rest of their stuff is insane.

He's on American Idol, I doubt if he's hurting for money. Anyways, all he has to do is sell out a few shows in Las Vegas and he's straight, and he can do that anytime he wants or needs to.

In a band, everyone used to have talent. Nothing wrong with supporting your band mates. He rocked that sax! It’s rare in 2019 for musicians to be able to play instruments. He is a true artist and humble too!
