The interviewer is Sook Yin Lee. She was my favourite VJ on Muchmusic. She was one of the only interviewers who got to talk to Thom Yorke after Kid A came out. She brings honest enthusiasm and creates comfortable spaces for those who are uncomfortable in normal interviews.

@@ollielindsay I discovered Elliott somewhere around 2012ish-2014. All I know for sure is that I definitely binged his stuff for over a year. Anyway just wanted to say I agree, he is indeed special. When I found out the same day that he wasn’t around anymore and why, it was probably the only time I can say that scenario hurt, and deeper than I thought I could hurt for someone I didn’t even know. I think it was finding out I was too late, that he already left this mortal coil, all at the same time I had been struggling with staying on it myself for years, feeling like this writer I’d never heard of til then was 1.) exorcising my soul lol, and 2.) confirming that I should finally, once and for all, trash my own songs and poetry along with any dreams of writing I still had, since it could never compare 😩🥲😂 I’ll always be grateful that he couldn’t keep himself from being the artist he was, and that he could share it before the end of his life. I think it takes a lot of nerve, luck, and passion to outshine one’s own personal darkness. Whatever happens after we’re done here in this reality, it’s pretty nice to imagine him smiling, proud of that.

The interviewer compliments him then turns it into a minor disaster with almost every question, then Elliott, just responds like the sweetest, most honest person in the world. What a legend. You can tell that he's super nervous to be there and his hands are shaking between the chords, but he champions through the song hitting all the notes perfectly. So cool to hear his writing method. He figured out what works and sticks with it. Much love, Elliott. RIP.
