I noticed that you must have figured out the weight transfer on Vinnie. You weren't sliding as bad, just sliding due to the dew and clippings. I heard at 13:30 that you comment that you set the weight transfer at 5 which is the highest(lowest depending on how you think of it). I wish I had a Vinnie. Really you haven't even begun to show how versatile Vinnie is. I would like to see you try to get the FEL attachment and compare it to Johnny digging with it.

Hey 👋. I know this is an older video but I was thinking 🤔........ what are the average rates for Ventrac Mowing , with the rough mower ? Rough mowing/ bush hogging rates vary a lot around here depending on the guy doing it and the job , usually between 80-100 per hour . My 4440 uses a lot of diesel so if I did a job it would be closer to 100 per hour to make it worth my time .

The one thing that I noticed is that the grass doesn't really collect grass like my 60 inch BX mower deck does. That is a plus. Any suggestions on how to keep the underside of the mower decks from building up gunk?
@TractorTimewithTim6 жыл бұрын
We'll release a video this Friday showing a clear view of the underside of this deck. Spoiler alert...it is almost spotless. I think the 'trick' is that these blades do not have any lift at all. They make no effort to mulch the grass. They simply cut it. This reduces power requirements. I think it works very well.
@RockingCHomestead6 жыл бұрын
Seems like it does. U want to see how bad mine was I did a little video after 10 hours of use on my new BX2380. It was shocking...

@travismoore37756 жыл бұрын
Hey Tim, I have noticed that you mowed from the bottom up. Would it have improved your traction to mow from the top down. I wonder if the dew and clippings cause the Ventrac to slide easier. Have you tried mowing top down vs bottom up to see which direction gives you the most traction?
@TractorTimewithTim6 жыл бұрын
It might.
@michaelhoffman15766 жыл бұрын
Clippings do cause more sliding. It's much easier to hold the hill working bottom down, and is the way to go when finish mowing. But when cutting that thick of stuff it's a good idea to work bottom up, better visibility for hazards, and less chance of sliding down into an unseen hazard.
@TractorTimewithTim6 жыл бұрын
...and by working bottom up, I don’t run over uncut grass. Notice how the tractor is much ‘below’ the deck, in a crab steer type approach.

hmm, rental would be best for most people that don't do it for a living. I think Dave understands that with that machine and possibly a few attachments, there would be more jobs he could do that he probably would have to have passed on without it. It's a great machine now... no question... how it holds up over the years will determine the real value. When rental firms start having them and of course the renters will probably abuse them, that will show how durable they really are, and how much maintenance they really take. I can't see that there's really all that much to go haywire so long as the engine runs. Maybe some hydraulic lines, stuff like that, they just go bad over time no matter what.
