Tim, you are fearless with that Ventrac, and we thank you for showing us just how far it can go1 But, curse you, too, for making me want to sell my 1025r and go spend lots more money getting the Ventrac and all the stuff to go with it. Videos like this give us armchair farmers a chance to enjoy seeing the satisfaction of clearing away a lot of growth. Of course, it's a whole lot more fun to be the one running that machine and conquering mother nature! I mentioned this before, but felt driven to say it again, this instance presents lots of excellent opportunities for aerial shots from a drone. When you were talking about the pond being dug at the start of the ravine, it sure would have been nice to see that whole area from the air showing all of that. You're a high-techie, by profession, and you already have a firm grip on using the GoPro, so stepping up to using a GoPro Karma drone would be a five minute orientation for you. And, batteries truly are a set-it-and-forget-it situation. And my carry case for mine is about the size of a boot box. Now, here's the kicker. Christy could set the drone in the air and set it for "follow me", or to continue to rotate round you and it will fly itself, keeping you in the shot, while she uses her OTHER GoPro-on-a-steek for ground work. Another bonus of the GoPro Karma is that it comes with the latest version (7 now) AND their very nice handle for the stabilization head that easily removes from the drone. So, you could literally have two GoPro cameras going at once. Dang, I wish I lived close to you guys! I would come along on one of your jobs to do some drone footage and show you how they work. Now would be a good time to use a drone to get some aerial footage of your new acreage, too. No, I'm not an employee of GoPro, nor do I sell them. Just an enthusiastic owner who sees so much potential to expand your videos. Thanks for another 21 minutes of good entertainment!

What is the largest stem/sapling diameter that the mower function is designed to cut through, and how does it compare to a tractor PTO-driven rotary cutter? It's quite impressive with how dense of vegetation it can cut through.
@TractorTimewithTim6 жыл бұрын
It is rated at 1.5 inches. I was cutting larger. The positive of this unit is that you don’t have tire tracks in front of your cutter mashing down the weeds before you cut.
@sideskraft6 жыл бұрын
@@TractorTimewithTim That's a notable advantage. In certain areas where that's a concern, I put the tractor in reverse so the vegetation is cut before the tractor tires run over it. But that would get pretty uncomfortable for any period of time.

You should look into PCI RADIOS they are used in racing so the 2 of you can talk to each other with headset and protect your ears at the same time there awesome to use. Came very close to buying one but want diesel and the new ones are underpowered. That much for a mower I want a engine that lasts thousands of hours. Not your fault the EPA are such a-holes. I also like the hydraulic pressure better on the lift on the Steiner. But hand controls on the Ventrac were way better. I got a new Grasshopper 900D having many other tractors for tilling and brush hogging. I think your unit was tops except for my listed items. Hopefully in future the diesels can return to 31 hp like they once were without all the added expenses.

If you do not mind sharing. What would you recommend for the hourly charge on the Ventrac. Tractor work in my area is $85.00hr. So would the Ventrac be the same you think?
@TractorTimewithTim5 жыл бұрын
We have a strict policy of not discussing pricing. Many reasons for this. Sorry
@ronhart41665 жыл бұрын
@@TractorTimewithTim that is too bad.I was not asking for YOUR hourly rate. I was asking if you knew the average. Here in Florida we get $105.00hr on skid steer work $65.00 lawn service and $85.00 on tractor work such as bush hogging. Was just curious because the Ventrac appeared to be a lot slower. I have been researching the Ventrac for a few months. But hey "I ain't scared" to share. This country was built on competition and it is part of life.
@TractorTimewithTim5 жыл бұрын
Ron, Sorry we offended you. We set this policy a LONG TIME before you asked the question, so it is nothing personal. Quite frankly, we don't KNOW average rates. We don't KNOW how to effectively set our own rates. So, we simply choose to avoid discussion on this topic. It isn't about competition for me. Afterall, our videos have caused us more competition than anything else we could have done. Everyone thinks they can do what we do, and that it will be easy and make them rich. So, there are tons of folks doing tractor work around here now. Again, sorry we offended.

Did they say they had a pump in that pond and they drink that water is that normal to drink pond water as opposed to a spring? It's a serious question
@TractorTimewithTim4 жыл бұрын
They have a pump in the pond, but not for drinking water. They use it to fill the sprayer. The sprayer applies herbicide on all of their farm acreage. We have an episode showing the pump filling the big tanks, and then filling the sprayer. Quite interesting, actually. So, no, pond water is generally not considered safe to drink.
