Triple J Logging recently tested John Deere's 768L-II Bogie Skidder on a steep tract at the southern end of the Appalachian Mountains. The forestry machine is designed to excel in these conditions, and Triple J was impressed.

American logging just looks like they're harvesting a bunch of skinny weeds. We're lucky to have big hardwoods in Australia

Depends where you're logging here in the states. I've logged lots of bigger stuff throughout my years in the woods of northern California. I've seen lots of 5' sugar pines, every once in a great while there's bigger ones. I've logged plenty of oversize doug fir, white fir, poderosa pine. I was on a job where they cut a 6.5' to 7' redwood back in 2015. And of course back in the old days they logged lots of big wood on the west coast.
