Steeplechase POV Blackpool Pleasure Beach | Only One of its Kind in the World!

WOW, this takes me back, as Knotts used to have a similar ride made by Arrow Dynamics that opened in 76, while this opened in 77. The Knotts version was "Motorcycle Chase" and had 4 lanes, instead of the 3 seen here, I think I rode it, but my memory is hazy from the period. But the ride that replaced it "Wacky Soap Box Racers", I do remember that one, as I rode it every time I visited the park. It was so fun, as it was the earliest ride I can remember that had "racing" as a theme and you could compete for placing at the end. It's crazy how coasters like this are made all over the world, and some meet there ends sooner than others. Way cool that something from that era of rides still exist somewhere, as I'm sure most weren't even born before Knotts removed their models.

rode both versions at Knotts. back then. the roaring 20s section was the only place I would hang in back then. Loop Trainer,those 2 corkscrew.parachute drop etc.....

I love the retroness of this ride. It’s janky and whoever I ride it with is like “aaaarrrggh” all the way round but it’s always hilarious and everyone else seems to be laughing when they’re on it. Pleasure Beach wouldn’t be the same without it.

Fun fact: before I visited Blackpool for the first time I saw Coaster Bot’s vlog when Taylor visited back in 2018, and I distinctly remember seeing Taylor pretending to twirl a lasso as he climbed one of these lifthills. So on my first (and so far only) ride on Steeplechase, I had to copy what Taylor did. XD

I really miss the Soap Box Racers at Knotts, that was a great ride with some good theming. I especially chapped my hide when the thing that initially replaced it was the legendarily bad Cod Jammers (Wind Jammers).

You should go back to Liseberg to ride Balder to see if your opinion has changed, because a lot of people love it for its ejector airtime, and in your review you said you didn't like it. Also, Liseberg has gotten 2 new coasters since the last time you went there, Valkyria and Luna.

To me, Steeplechase is very polarizing! I hated it when I rode it (one and done!) but my friend enjoyed it on her visit. It's getting old, and although it's a classic, I wouldn't be sad to see it go. It sits in a big plot of land and I'd love to see what Pleasure Beach could do with it!
