This gives a clear picture of what is happening inside the hydraulic system. Just had one doubt about the relief valves, that when SOLAS says that the relief valve is supposed to be set at 1.25 times of the working pressure, why do we have Class saying that it should be set at 1.1%?
@rmetcvideos
@rmetcvideos 3 жыл бұрын
I guess the 1.1 % is for Capacity not pressure. For opressure it is 1.25 but the INCREASE in pressure shud not be more tha 1.1 %

Good effort. .If two systems are running and a hydraulic alarm is raised, by swiching off one system and operating with only one system should solve the problem. Is this correct????

SIR , can u make clear the point at 7:58 of video ...if you have 2 main s/g ,two control system also to be there, and to be independent exception can made if you have telemotor system - in this point the control system means is that emergency steering which we are doing manually or whats meant by control system

Good day sir, Short circuit protections are provided for both control and main power circuit. Does it mean that it only provides alarm ? Or does it mean there is a trip protection against short circuit ?

Sir...you said that when the rotory vane steering gear is on hydraulic lock by the isolating valves...the isolating relief valve is in command if sea forces hit the rudder then the rudder must have moved by some degrees...in that case sir...how can we take back the rudder to its default place..if it is in hydraulic locking condition..?
@rmetcvideos
@rmetcvideos 3 жыл бұрын
You are right..The rudder does change position due to sea water waves hitting it due to The shock absorber valves . But this change in Rudder position results in a deviation from the set point. Hence a new corrective action generated. Isolating valves have no role to play in this scenario

sir if surveyor ask us what is 100% redundancy and what is 50% please tell us what to answer for this
@rmetcvideos
@rmetcvideos 3 жыл бұрын
Difficult question bcoz it depends on interpretation of surveyor also. However I will tell you my answer basis some guidance from class advise Giving steering gear as example...A steering gear needs to move rudder in 28 secs as per SOLAS . Depending on ship type as you have seen in video, it can be done with 2 pumps simultaneously. In this case -- 50 % redundancy. In case EACH of the pump was capable of moving the rudder in 28 secs... 100 % redundancy. I still advise you to tell the answer which the surveyor wants to hear..
