I have owned the D2 Delta PX for nearly a year now and I agree with Stefan. It’s a really cool watch. But it would have been much smarter of me to spend the money on flight training. It’s good to track the accuracy of circuits etc. I don’t regret spending the money but you absolutely don’t need this it’s just a cool toy. Keep up the awesome content mate!

Stefan Drury, thanks for the reply. Training is on hold for now but I am fortunate enough to work in the aviation industry as aircrew so that satisfies the bug. If you are ever in Perth or want to have a look at some interesting aircraft feel free to contact me.

I bought some years ago the D2 Charlie because I am a private pilot. Nice to have it but frankly speaking, I have never, never used it during a flight... Plane instruments coupled to a iPad for any flight informations are quite more relevant and reliable. The good point is the autonomy of the battery which can reach more than 2 weeks before charging. Just to say that I will replace it by a Samsung Gear x more useful and easier to use for a day to day life.

Great review Stefan! Definitely up there in the 'nice, but don't need!' I've had a love/hate relationship with Garmin running watches over the years. The joys of waiting for a 'sync' to complete before a race was always frustrating! Take care mate!

I love my Forerunner 935 for running, best smartwatch I've ever owned to be honest. The battery life is crazy good and the tracking I find is really accurate. Yeah there can be a delay whilst it finds a GPS signal I get that too, but often (if you have clear view of the sky) it's often not too long. Thanks for watching Benjamin.

Absolute humorous and informative entertainment....... Thanks Stefan! Really well done. The fact that the D2 has an Analogue face makes it very appealing to me. The integration with the Nav suite is fantastic and the Garmin App is....sweet. I would gift it to my very ill brother, so as to get him flying again. I imagine it could be of the greatest value if one was to loose your GX-650 in the air; another means of redundancy. God bless stay safe..

I'm wondering if this would be a useful product for GA aircraft and pilots that don't have a cockpit full of modern avionics. I'm thinking of those that fly historic aircraft, experimental aircraft, PPG pilots that do cross country and similar. Something compact on your wrist would be far more manageable than a tablet on your knee board, especially for PPG use. Something that you can set up (presumably) a warning on the pulse oximeter to let you know if you are approaching your limits would be great. Having some basic navigation capability would also help to keep an eye on fuel when you meet an unexpectedly strong head wind, and a way to double check heading and ground speed in cases where you don't have the instrumentation or something unexpected happens.

I have the Garmin D2C Titanium, been amazing for military, fixed wing, and float plane flying. The watch is going on three years now and it’s made it through two deployments. Unfortunately the titanium band didn’t make it more than a year and I had to buy another band due to manufacture defect, $200 USD (Garmin wouldn’t cover that). A fellow pilot bought the D2D and I literally wouldn’t pay an $500 USD to get three additional features: Pulse Ox, Garmin pay, and 500 song capacity. I wear this watch for work, working out, and flying. If you want a cute lil watch to listen to music, digital pay, text, phone calls, and other life’s conveniences don’t get this watch. Go with another company or dare I say get an Apple Watch. The D2D isn’t justifiable since they didn’t upgrade the screen or any of the features you actually utilize during flying. Save yourself money and get the D2C or wait till the D2E comes out with hopefully some upgraded features for flying. Ultimately don’t spend the money for the D2D instead put your money towards flight training, aircraft avionics upgrades, or save up for a plane. If someone gave me the watch or if you can acquire it like Stefan did then go for it.

Yes, this watch is technologically amazing, but it is just a fitness watch with flying functions bodged on. The start/stop for flying "activity" drives me up the wall. It isn't designed for pilots. I'm an airline pilot and software developer so I just wrote my own apps for my watch. In a few hours I could write way more useful and reliable applications.

On this Sunday November the 10th there was a cirrus sr22 flying over where I live , Doreen and landed at Yarrawonga aero drome at a calibrated altitude of 6850 ft and a speed of approximate 185 knots . I upgrade to the D2 Delta PX from the D2 Charlie. It’s a great watch, the titanium band it a bit average, the first locking mechanism broke after the first month. Garmin wants the whole watch back not just the user replaceable band. Not great given the watch band is worth over $320 so its not great.

I don’t think Marq aviator has any new aviation features compared to a D2D. But certainly looks great!

@@Nano606606 If you have the non-Plus 5X, you can turn that into a D2 Charlie. If you have any 5 Plus model, you can change the firmware to that of a D2 Delta.

It would come in handy if the avionics failed. And you lost your maps. And forgot where you are.

That is very clunky having to download an iPhone app, onto the iPad (looks terrible on a big screen) to then use another app, with a 2k watch 😂 All the toys are a bit like the sports mode on cars, use it on day one, will never use it again. I’ll stick to my F-91W Casio and stick a 65 inch OLED TV on the wall thanks ✌️ Bit like Breitlings, marketed at spotters, never used by actual pilots 🤷‍♂️

There are also the D2 Delta and D2 Delta S that are slimmer but come without the SpO2 sensor and smaller batteries.

So basically if my Gamin avionics on the plane failed, I can just rely on a $1500USD watch and I will land safely?
