Hi Stefan, thank you for your message, which will penetrate beyond the aviation geek community world wide. Our collective Australian hearts ache and will continue to hurt as we visit our favourite spots in the North East of our state and the beautiful Wilderness of East Gippsland. I have noted that other aviation producers have placed similar vlogs on the internet, with a simple and non hysterical ( as distinct from the mass media) message which hopefully will receive as much as support as you no doubt will. So a massive thank you from your local support base. Cheers. Otto

The smoke is god awful at some points but boy, are we lucky to live in Melbourne. My family has a property half an hour further north from Ballarat and we had a bushfire that was ~20kms away. Luckily the wind blew it away from the towns in the area and the firefighters did an amazing job to control it but the burnt area looks massive even though it was fairly small compared to everything else in Gippsland, Sydney and everywhere else that is being affected. For anyone that is being affected currently, stay safe and know that the rest of the country and the world has your back. ❤️❤️❤️

Hi Stef, thanks for your videos and this one especially! I'm a commercial pilot myself working for Switzerland's largest airline. I visited Australia in October just before all these fires started and it's terrible to see what's happening to the people we've talked to, the houses they lived in, the animals we've seen and the beautiful landscape we've been admiring. I'm wishing you guys all the best in repairing all of the damage. At the same time it's time to face the fact that climate change is the main contributing factor that leads to higher temperatures, lack of rain and consequently also these terrible wildfires. It's sad to see how the australian government refuses to change their course away from coal and fossil fuels towards renewable energy and synthetic fuels even in this situation. We all might have to rethink our style of living, travelling and consuming to fight this crisis, myself included. Otherwise the year will come where the bushfire season will be even more devestating than this one, even if this is hard to imagine... All the best to you in australia, keep up the great work ;)

Thank you Simon, and you’re right it’s events like this that should make us evaluate all of our actions. And as you say, that includes us pilots and travellers who could make decisions to benefit the planet whilst still enjoying our freedom choices. I really appreciate the comment, thanks mate.
@novemberromeo25004 жыл бұрын
Sorry Simon500. This has nothing to do with climate change. Fires have been ravaging the Australian bush for thousands of years. The original owners of this land used to deliberately set fire to the bush as a form of land and fauna management. Long before coal fired generators or auto-mobiles ever hit our roads. A large majority of these fires were started by dry lightening strikes. Lightening has also been hitting the earth for hundreds and thousands of years. This is nothing more than poor land management by people in control of local councils and are stopping back burning. Did you know that the fires here in Victoria (Kinglake) had 90 tonnes of dry fuel on the ground per one acre. With hundreds of hectares burnt, we had no chance of putting these fires out. It has nothing upon nothing to do with climate. See this facebook.com/SkyNewsAustralia/videos/840486402985097/?t=9 Some of these fires (not all) were started deliberately and some offenders have been caught and charged by Police. Most of these fires were started by mother nature herself. (Lightening) and that my friend has nothing to do with climate change. And hypothetically....if the average temperature of Australia was to decrease by say 2 degrees, we would still have bush fires. We've had them in the past including at the turn of the centenary before industrialisation. After all......we are a land of the following poem. I love a sunburnt country, A land of sweeping plains, of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains. I love her far horizons, I love her jewel sea…….. Her beauty and her terror The wide brown land for me.

@limerickman85124 жыл бұрын
I have very little sympathy for Australians, 1. These fires are deliberately caused by people. Second reason which is far more important to why I have zero sympathy. 2. The range the fires spread is caused by past governments laws. The laws that prevents "fire breaks" to be created, thus allows the fires to spread over a much larger area unnecessary, thus no land maintenance to reduce fire spread risks. It is like not putting on your seatbelt when you are in a moving vehicle, and government outlaw seatbelts because it is bad for x, y ,z stupid reasons People are heavily fined for creating "fire breaks" on their property. Fire breaks are a huge "seatbelt" safety systems. Those people whom did violate the stupid negligent green/environment/climate change laws, whom were heavily fined and punished, now feels vindicated as their homes/property survived the fires, while their neighbours homes/properties, national parks, and public infrastructure burned, because of government and environmentists negligence. Wild animals suffered the worse under the activists/government laws. Blaming "climate change" is a bullshit excuse, as it failed to blame the people whom is really responsible for this negligence.
