Ventrac Fine Cut Flail On Pasture Grass!

I love my MY720. Been running the heck out of it. Tomorrow will be the test on my biggest property, 40 acres, has not been mowed yet this season, but was mowed last fall by me with my MS720 set at 5". One thing I've noticed is how little it seems to lug on the motor. yes, in some places you will feel it start to lug, but nothing like a Tough Cut or finish deck. With the flail the engine sounds seem so consistent and even all the time.

I can't wait to try out a MY720. The flails are pretty hard to get ahold of, So I am happy with getting the first one to try. If I get a MY720 I will be sure to post more videos of it as well. I think it will do really well in the tall stuff. I think the MW720 did great in the tall weeds. I am curious on how much faster the MY720 will be. I am planning on letting half or more of my back acres grow up so that if I do get a fast cut to be able to do more tests.

I can assume on grass that’s cut weekly it would work great and be able to mow faster at say the 5 mph range. Just not sure if it’s better than a finish mower or about the same. Thanks for sharing really informative.

My frustration with Ventrac is that they won't make a smaller brush mower like Steiner does with their 44-in tree farm mower. I called the dealership that actually sells it both, but they haven't called me back if the tree farm more would attach to the Ventrac. I like Ventrac a little better, because they have those extra hydraulics on the front of the machine in order to have more versatile attachments. I even looked up the smaller rougher cutting flail more and I think it's still is 5 ft or wider. I would just have to take out more trees on our hilly property where we brush cut with a small tractor 48 inch brush hog. I just can't get up high enough with it

The Steiner 44" tree farm mower will work on a Ventrac, if you can find one

@@joelgarber7422 Yes, I know it's kind of finding a unicorn. I called a Ventrac dealer that also sells Steiner products and there had been a halt to production of the 44-in Steiner mower.

I'd definitely say the flail mulches the cuttings so fine should really help the lawn / field a great way to eliminate lawn sweeping 👍

I just picked up an old Steiner 430 Max. Will the Ventrac attachments fit that machine?

Yes Ventrac attachments will work with the 430. Some of the Ventrac attachments tho like the power bucket hold more material than the Steiner slip scoop. So if you use a power bucket depending on what material you are hauling you may nit be able to fill it completly full. It may exceed the weight that the 430 can lift. That would be the only thing tho.

in a way it kind of makes me think that if you used this in combination with a fine cut finnish mow it would be able to take an overgrown pasture back down to lawn quality in no time

Ya it would not take long at all. The flail is almost like a finish mower itself.

Can you use a quick hitch on the 3 pt? Thinking of getting rid of the kubota and going a ventrac but want to keep my box blade and quick hitch set up. Thanks

What's height will the grass be before it doesn't do its job anymore

It will cut as low as 1 inch

mow atleast 3.5 for healthier grass

Change your direction of cut 45° every time you cut. It will look better.

I agree. Changing cut direction every time you mow would definitely make the cut quality better. I am hoping to get my hands on one again and have more time to try more things with it.

I know. This attachment is great. I sometimes wish I would not have tested it. Now I want it even more.
