URU SUBMACHINE GUN NON-FIRING DUMMY. BRAZILIAN GENIUS SIMPLICITY: Trigger design details

Have seen this very simple Brazilian SMG on Forgotten weapons.

WAS BLOWN AWAY by it,s simplicity.
Perhaps the simplest trigger/sear/disconnect as one piece I have ever seen. GENIUS!
I have no chance to look at this rare gun in person, let alone possess it.
Here,s my research project.
Just looking at the pictures and parts diagrams available on the internet , I created this NON-FIRING model/ mechanism , to feel it in the hands and educate myself about the inner workings of the gun. I scaled everything down for a tiny .22LR magazine I have.
Made some changes/ mods .
I don,t weld, so the fun challenge also was to connect things together welds free:
1) a modified threaded at the ends 1/2x 8 “ plumbing steel nipple is the upper tube receiver with 1/4” steel mounting plates threaded on. The ends a capped with plumbing brass fittings.
THERE,S NO TRUNNION OR BARREL! IT WILL NEVER FIRE , PERIOD!
2) a square tube is the lower receiver and trigger group housing. Pistol grip- AK.
3) the connection of the upper to the lower is analogous to the original, but is even simpler, as is the clicking cam- ‘selector’ switch interface with the rear plunger that unites the receivers together.
4) 4 positions the selector cam -clicks between safe( no movements of the bolt and trigger), semi and ‘full auto’. 4th position is redundant.
5) the trigger’s 2 steps are: the main and disconnect sears. In semi mode- bolt drops ~ .5” from one to another with
a loud click - disconnect, very audible.
In ‘full auto’- the rear step , disconnector is completely down and out of the way…
6)the bolt is an actual 5/8 bolt
7)not optimal main spring/guide arrangement. Not as clean as the original, but there was no room on such a small scale.( but I might redo the bolt/ main spring )

Have you chambered anything in 32 acp? Know a lot of people reject it's capabilities, but it was used for decades with great results and still in use today.

Thanks for the interest. I scale my models for 22 LR. Or shorts. Remember I make non shooting models, hence no chambering… If it was legal, they would be fully operational. I love rim fire, they are challenge. They are capricious, underpowered for cycling, but they are fun. And they remain relatively cheap. I believe it,s much easier to work with center fire ACP style rounds. Harness their energy, feed, extract them etc. so far I never considered them for projects. But I might.

Thank you very much! I tried to make it only using regular hardware store materials and home tools, but still clean and aesthetically pleasing. Also I can,t weld and clean look becomes more challenging. The only thing remains to undo is the spring/guide arrangement- make it internal. Also, it probably would look much sexier with a barrel and alive …but it has to stay a toy…and a paperweight .

Let me help you the best I,m allowed … The best way how this trigger works is shown and explained by Forgotten weapons , episode about URU- I literally did multiple screen shots and learned from that. Watch all my videos about this item and read all the descriptions- cumulatively a lot of details about parts, hardware store references,, sizes, materials etc. Also read comments and my answers - if you are capable- you will have everything you need. А он пулями может стрелять ?? Я в детстве тоже оружейником был дошло только до чертежей и изготовлению некоторых деталей. А собирать удавалось только на один патрон.

@@penza726 Он построен в 22 калибре ( 5.56мм) , сознательно не стреляющим. Только как образовательная игрушка. Чтоб закончить- нужен ствол и лицензия оружейника определенного уровня…

If you refer to Olympio Vieira de Mello, who created the original 9mm URU then yes. In my opinion one of the best simple SMG designs ever. I hope he taught you a few things?

Любопытно! Спасибо. Как я понял .22 это просто затвор такой первым нашелся? А вот направляющая главной пружины при движении выходит далеко за габариты? спец. дырочка в заглушке. Это... как-то.. Зачем? В оригинале такого вроде нет?

Молодчина… ты прав! Я импровизировал с затвором и пружинами и ввиду лимитов того что было а также дизайна курка и маленьких габаритов 22 калибра - мне пришлось компромисничать…Как я ответил раньше: @user-zg1un5tr9k спасибо. В теории . Это направляющая пружины. Это конечно не лучший вариант , я не хотел таким образом- хотел , чтоб все спрятано в коробке косметически, но на тот момент вариантов не было. Но с безопасности- там все нормально, есть плечо которое пружина прижимает к затвору ( они как одно целое) и улететь в стрелка она не может. Когда нибудь переделаю затвор , пружину и направляющую как в УРУ, или ППС . Все внутри.

@@sergpastukhov6951 спасибо. Как нить соберусь и переделаю затвор / пружину. Как в Уру, она должна скользить поверху коробки, так как спуск и дисконнектор торчат внизу глубоко. Как в СТЕН большого диаметра пружина будет их цеплять и тормозить. А 22 слишком слаб для такого рода потерь, 9мм парабеллум легче захомутать на циклирование…тонна энергии на все

See the newer videos. The big spring , ~full diameter of the receiver , drags on the sear and disconnect due to the nature of the Uru design. But rebuilding / switching to a small top or side spring makes things smoother.
