I put Loctite on all three of my Steinhart bracelets (2x O-style 42mm, 1x 39mm J-style - all of them in stainless steel though). Not that I had much trouble before, but better safe than sorry. The screws on all three haven't budged since I put that stuff on there - and I had two of the watches with me on a recent 4 week vacation with lots of activities and water-sports in a tropical climate. You should check Loctite's website to see what they recommend for titanium though.

People complain about the pin and collar system that seiko use , but I've never had a problem with them. I found the screws more fiddly. Bb58 for me, but I think it it needs drilled lugs or at least quick release straps. Nobody wants to be messing about with a tool that marks the lugs up. Not at 3k Anyway.

This was a really useful video , as I had both of these on a “watch list” so to speak. Obviously there’s a big difference in price, but on watching this I’ve decided to not even consider this model of Steinhart. I also have Steinhart Ocean 1 Vintage dual time shortlisted, but if this is typical of the build I’ll seriously consider ditching that too. I think the Tudor looks excellent. I’ve just added the Ollech and Wajs C100 to the list to think about , which falls somewhere in the middle at around £1200? . There seem to be very few actual dealers for the latter to view it though before buying here in the U.K. which makes it a tougher decision. Anyway great job 👍

Has anyone else had this experience: I absolutely drool over the BB58 and the BB GMT in videos and photos. I like them much more than the Omega Seamaster 300 in photos/videos. I still like Tudors in person but not quite as much, and when I look at them side by side with the Omega, my eye is drawn towards the Omega. That’s odd for me, because styling-wise I tend to prefer “dressier” watches and I’m not that big into sporty looking watches. My only diver is an Orient Mako II (Japanese), which I do love.

Great watch the BB58 - it's been my primary wear since I got it, always on a Nato, and exposed to hard outdoor use. Don't agree with your gripes; this is a less-is-more diving watch, hence no date or see-through back. My only (very minor) gripes are cosmetic - I'd like the hands to be the same shade of gold as used on the rest of the watch (not yellower) and I'd prefer the case edge between the lugs to be polished. Apart from those nit-picky issues, I find this watch absolutely perfect - which isn't a term many would use to describe the Steinhart, interesting watch though it may be!

Steinharts are superb value. They could easily sell them for 20% higher than what they are now and would still be big value. Particularly the premium range with the open case back. I've both Tudor BB and the a few Steinharts and they are very very different watches but both have wrist time. One thing you didnt mention what the bezel action which I believe is better on the Tudor, and 60 click is more practical than 120 clicks (my opinion). Good vid thanks

Cheers for watching mate! I agree that they are a great buy. I agree that 60 click makes more sense than 120, just playing with my Steinhart now, I don't imagine a need to do a "half" click. It has a solid bezel action, not as refined as the Tudor, but still nice to use. Glad you enjoyed the video.

Like you - i own Steinhart w eta - stainless steal versions- and Tudors , including bbb. It is truly mind boogling the quality you get from Steinhart - they are tanks . Its only construction weakness is the clasp. However the bracelets, case, bezel, movements utilized , are truly incredible tool watches. That being said Tudor is - at a micro machinery level more perfect - however- its also thicker ( which I actually like ) and the aluminum bezel - while truly beautiful in tone artistically - is much less durable. Also the silicon spring - adds a controversial.proprietary service liability - which is worth avoiding imho. However, this unfortunately seems to be inevitable industry tec upgrade for now .While I like both brands tremendously-. I think once any company manages to engineer generational quality timepieces - that can out live its owner - that company has done its do diligence. The watch communities self imposed homage controversy has little applicability/ credibility in the remaining world of art, science and design where anything providing beauty and quality - that is not copyright infringement is applauded - not demeaned . If Rolex has no objections - I certainly dont either. Buy what you like - and take advantage of the amazing quality you can enjoy for fractions of the price of other great brands. Its a dimension to the hobby that should truly be appreciated not demeaned - a negative direction for anyone to follow. Great presentation 👍.

I have the Steinhart 39 GMT premium 500, and the Tudor bb58. The 58 is the ultimate vintage-inspired dive watch. End of. It’s perfect. The Steinhart would be fantastic for the money (gmt movement, FIVE HUNDRED m water resistant with a exhibition case back and very thin, decent finishing, fantastic jubilee bracelet), if it weren’t for two things. Bezel action isn’t great, a bit off play. It runs EIGHTY to NINETY seconds slow per day!!! I will be sending it in for a service soon but that is just ridiculous for a new watch costing that much.
@Conor1878pl4 жыл бұрын
As I’ve said elsewhere I own both (nearly: I have the 39mm premium 500 gmt steinhart, essentially the same watch but smaller with a gmt movement). Enjoyed the video but a strange comparison. A cheaper, tool watch, Rolex homage, or a mid range luxury, vintage inspired worldie of a watch. If you have the money, don’t for a second consider the steinhart, the bb58 is just the ultimate watch below £3000. There’s absolutely no competition between the two, incomparable in every aspect (unless you’re desperate for a date window over looks I suppose - if you want functionality over aesthetics, get an Apple Watch instead).
@DavidBournePhotoandVideo4 жыл бұрын
Hi Conor, yeah I agree it is a weird comparison, but I was more trying to think that would the Steinhart really be all you would need, or is there proper justification for forking out for the 58. JkandI - yes that was the case for Tudor over 70 years ago. Today, it’s on the level of Rolex in regard to quality but costs less than half the price....offers a design nod to one of its own pieces from 1958 (with some contemporary cues), whereas the steinhart seeks to make an affordable Sub homage with a splash of color and a sub par bracelet.....apples v oranges

Most serious watch people believe the Tudor’s quality is in the league of Rolex so we can agree to disagree And to G1234’s point....with Tudor you’re buying some heritage in its own right. I would have loved the Steinhart if I was 18 and had bodybuilder wrist, but I went down in size over the years. It's watch cases size I was talking about... A proper Titanium alloy will not scratch easily. Judging by the looks of your bracelet, I'd guess that's a poor alloy, so I'd stay away from sea water and indian rivers. Don't try to clean it with petrol! You can easily fix your screws in place with Loctite. Really. DO IT! Nobody should give a rat's ass about back cases. Wiser brands have figured a long time ago that people tend to use watches to check time and occasionally play with the bezel when they dive in their office chair. The BB58 looks like a decent classic watch taken out of an old box and ruined by a logo missing the center part, some boring straight text and a fake riveted bracelet or w/e you call that failure of representation of a vintage strap. Regardless, I like the gilt, it sits perfectly on my wrist and it's the watch I wear more often than anything (since I'm too poor to afford an Explorer). Why was I recommended this video by youtube?
