By far the best commercial video for trikes on KZbin. 😀

Your video is more detailed than a high level sales video for SteinTrikes could be. Ivana, your engineering background comes through in this video. Thanks for including numbers and specs. I have an internal gear hub too (Sachs 3x7 Spectro), but I bought my Greenspeed GLR used and it's 19 years old, so my crunchy hub may need to be replaced soon. I'm excited to see you using the Sturmey Archer CS-RK3 which I've been eyeing as a replacement for mine when I need to do so. Stein Trikes have great technical details and it's cool to see Serbian engineering and craftsmanship on KZbin.

I have always wondered why AZUB and ICE trikes refuse to install the Sturmey-Archer generator when drum brakes are ordered. If you want a generator, you have to get disc brakes. That doesn't make sense to me!

I have the 90mm drums on my Greenspeed. I haven't seen the combined drum brake / dynamo before - it's a really good idea.

I agree, it is a very good combination - low maintenance for both the brakes and the lights.

I would recommend you install some straps on the pedals so your feet don’t fall off when you are not using the clips. It’s very dangerous and your food could easily fall off the pedal and get swept under your bike. I use it all the time but I feel safer using straps. Good luck ; I love your videos.
@bici.family
@bici.family 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the tip, I will look into that! Lately we have been riding only with the clips, it's usually in the wintertime when we would sometimes use normal shoes (warmer ones), and I agree that additional straps would improve these situations.

Nice presentation of all the in's and out's of your steintrikes. I have never seen one in real life, but they seem to have a very good suspention. Very handy when leaving the paved roads. When choosing your trikes, did you try the one with the fat tires also? I see that yours doesn't have a rear mudguard/fender. Doesn't that create a lot of dirt everywhere on the back of the seat, the paniers....? With 20" tires all around, you also need only one type of spare tire, which you hopefully will never need :) Stay happy and in good health, and I'll be watching your next video in 2 weeks.

Thank you, they really have a very good suspension system, I used to hate going on gravel and bumpy roads with my upright bike, but with the trike, it's always a smooth ride. We didn't try the fat one, at the time when we visited Steintrikes workshop, they didn't have one assembled. Would be cool to try it out someday, although for us it was not an option we were considering, I think the standard wheels are more useful for us. About my mudguard, that's another story 😂 I was very clumsy on one of the rides and succeeded to bend/break a part of it, and so far I haven't gotten a new one to replace it - but I will. The hardshell seat that I have protects me from the water and dirt for now, but it does get quite dirty, I wouldn't recommend riding without the mudguard. And also, so true for the spare tire. I always forget to mention that aspect, because we rarely need it - on our upright bikes we have used the puncture resistant tires for years, and I really don't remember when was the last time we had to change a tube - and I hope it stays that way! 😂

Interesting that you got hub dynamo when i asked for that for my Azub I was told that they could not fit it because of stress when turning. I am in the process of getting a wheel built with one in and boy what a hassle that is. I do like your trikes nice looking machines
@bici.family
@bici.family 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! 😊 I don't know about the stress when turning, I haven't heard about it so far. We didn't have any problems with ours if that counts. In fact, the hub dynamo was one of the options that were offered for our trike setup when we were discussing the options, and we agreed that it's a very handy thing to have included.

@@bici.family Hello I am a big fan of hub dynamos i have had them on all my bikes and I really want on on my trike. Having just been through the hassle of going through a bike shop and being told that Sturmey Archer only sell to trade as it were and then too order them, the order has to be above five units. I think it was the case with Azub that they did not want another three units sitting on their shelf never to be used , I have just manged to find and have brought a 90mm drum brake combo set from a shop over here in the Uk called SJS cycles now I just got wait for delivery and then get a rim and get the wheel made up I all ready have the lights for it. as to the stress of turning I take it with a pinch of salt.

Hello family, how much do your bikes weigh? If you plan travel long distance you should think about it. When we ride around Europe each of us carried 150 kilos 😄 Kids, trike, bags, Weehoo and us included. Regards. Good video👏👏
@bici.family
@bici.family 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! At first, I was shocked to read 150 kg, but then if you include your own weight as well it makes sense 😂 Our trikes are around 20 kg I think, they are not light. For now, we don't plan such a big trip as you did (at least not at the moment), rather we make several smaller tours during the year, and usually during the summer we make a "longer" one, 3 - 4 weeks. Last year we went with a setup with a trailer for kids, and for us, it was easier to carry everything on the trikes than in the previous year when we went on our standard bikes with the same trailer - even if the bikes are not as heavy as the trikes, and the kids were smaller - I think the weight is balanced in a different way on the trikes.

I understand what you mean, the trikes are really expensive type of bikes. But for the quality of material, the full suspension and all the options that we have, I think our trikes fit within the price range of similar manufacturers.
