Live from the Factory Floor -The 5 Browns "Sorcerer's Apprentice" (full performance)

In the 5th installment of Steinway's “Live from the Factory Floor” concert series, The 5 Browns visited the historic Steinway factory in Astoria, NY to perform in front of the 350+ craftspeople that work on building the world's best pianos. The 5 Browns - Ryan, Melody, Gregory, Deondra and Desirae - all attended New York’s Juilliard School. In fact, they became the first family of five siblings ever accepted simultaneously. The 5 Browns tour extensively and have performed in numerous venues including the Grand National Theater in China, Suntory Hall in Japan and, in the United States, The Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, Symphony Hall in Chicago and Alice Tully Hall in New York City.
In this clip, from the group's visit to the New York factory on October 2, 2015, they played their unique 5 piano version of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" by French composer Paul Dukas.

I can truly appreciate this as my Great Grand Father sold Steinway pianos in San Francisco beginning in 1870. His business being Sherman-Clay Music Co.

I used to go in there during the 70s when I was attending San Francisco State and play on those pianos. They were so friendly and allowed me to play on the pianos even though I couldn't afford a Steinway

Dennis De Cuir They only play Steinway’s and are exclusive Steinway artist. They each actually have their own piano in their homes and that is all they play at concerts and it makes everything they play so beautiful to listen to

Super game-playing experience for these five professionals, but how do you listen to and enjoy such a thing in your own living environment. Perhaps a new technical challenge for the Chinese audio industry. Really 5.0 surround sound. Including new design speakers. i'm thinking of ceiling electrostats mass-produced and thus accessible to average working people.

+Hans Müller Was it composed for 5 pianos? I do not think so. Therefore, the group had to perhaps rearrange certain portions to conform to their ability to play the piece with 5 pianos. Did you ever think of that possibility Mr. Hans Muller? Many concert pianists including Horowitz have deviated from the score and have played at least parts of pieces according to their interpretation rather than that of the composer. There is nothing wrong with that at the concert pianist/advanced level of piano performance. It perhaps would not be a good idea for the beginner to intermediate student of the piano. I hate negative comments like yours about pianists whose talents exceed yours, assuming you have any.

Edward Ferdon First, it was my personal opinion, and it still is. Of course, the piece was not written for 5 pianos, and of course they can and have to interpret to make it sound good. But after listening to the original piece a few times, this did not represent the feelings of the original piece (at least not mine). I did not and will not criticise the ability or talent of the pianosts, also not those of the person who arranged this piece, but I think it does not represent its original.
