SO cruel to poor old Stellantis :-) Kicking them when their tyres have gone flat.. I hear their forthcoming technical advance is a hybrid incorporating a gigantic steel spring, wound round the back axle, which can be wound every morning, like a clock. Ground breaking!

Inboard rear brakes (as on my old Alfa Romeo Alfettas) are great for reducing unsprung weight but maintenance is such a pain. If they do last a lifetime with a dyson vacuum sucking out the dust, great. Otherwise it will be a $5,000 brake job.

Inboard brakes have been tried on some European companies to reduce un-sprung weight. What happens if you break a half shaft, no brakes for that wheel.

1970's Audi's had inline brakes... they uh... don't anymore... The advantage I see from inline brakes is being able to capture the heat in the winter... or maybe even harvest the heat somehow to generate electricity.

Hey guys. Great episode. Thanks. It may not matter to you, but as a professional photographer/videographer, perhaps work a little bit on framing the camera on yourselves according to the rule of thirds for a better 'professional look'. Eyes one third down from the top. Watch any 'professional' broadcast and see they limit the amount of headroom by having the eyes (or collection of eyes at an average) one third down from the top. Cheers!

Tesla shows no non-foundation series Cybertrucks in inventory anywhere. Are they selling every regular CT they build, with essentially zero days CTs are sitting at Tesla's sales lots? All other car companies generally have 85+ days that inventory is sitting on their sales lots. All those bears/short sellers saying CT sales are slowing down due to lack of demand for the Cybertruck are BS, based on Tesla's days in inventory data.

Break inside the motor is typical German engineering...where can we find complexity? Why not hub motors, MB? Where does any dust go, I wonder? Also, no part is the best part, taken to the extreme - no car at all. Just call it the invisible car. Sort of an Emperor's New Clothes thing.

inboard wet brakes is a genius idea. I suspect it will be on all EV's in a few years. fyi these are already on almost all heavy duty equipment such as backhoes and tractors. The "dust" and heat goes into the oil which is separate from the motor or gearbox oil.
@snookmeister555 сағат бұрын
If you're right that it's a genius idea, then it should become the industry norm. However, this wouldn't influence me to buy a Stellantis. Brake shoes seem so 20th century.

@@АгронДепартье true but the regen does 99% of the braking. these would more be for holding the car(park brake) and assist regen. and as a backup incase regen fails i suppose. but really they will hardly ever be used.
